1. Some of the audience liked us. I didn't like us. New bass worked OK, but like all P-basses I struggle to hear what I'm playing.
2. Not necessary to redrill the tuner screw hole; trim a matchstick to fit the hole snugly, cut it a touch too short, put it in the hole, drive the screw (you will need a screwdriver which actually fits the screw head properly). Done. PMed re the J neck.
3. I've a bitsa fretless I put together from a Hohner neck and an anonymous (Kay?) P-body from eBay. It's lovely. Not The One, perhaps, but I will never part with it.
4. They are astounding for the price.
5. I had a trashed one - headstock cut back, body ruined, cut to a paddle shape and repaired with car body filler. The pup sounded great, very warm. The wood has gone but the bits remain. Thanks for the gen - I never knew what it was
6. If you do decide you want to sell it here, here is the place to do it: http://basschat.co.uk/forum/19-basses-for-sale/ and this thread contains valuable info: http://basschat.co.uk/topic/183234-rule-changes-to-marketplace-36-hour-bumping-rule-and-trade-valuations/ Nothing stops you posting here and asking for advice, as far as I know. Lots of people post their pics on Photobucket and then post a link here.
7. I particularly like the third photo. Most informative.
8. ten-day bump. No hurry
9.
I had a 4 string Cirrus BXP which I gigged for a couple of years, it was a great bass but it had a really high output level which would sometimes over drive the amp if you got carried away when you were playing and it also got through batteries really quickly, is the 9 volt version you have the same ?
The early 18-volt Cirrus BXPs ate batteries, for sure; some sort of wiring fault. The later ones were fine. I don't know about the 9-volt. They are fine basses
10. Pretty Where do you get strings for it?
11. One string too many, sadly. Is this an American, or a BXP?
12. I bought strings from Mike. All went well, and I would happily deal with him again. Cheers
13. Signed and shared.
14. I traded basses with Alan, and I'm very happy. This is the third time we've dealt, if I remember rightly, which should tell its own story; so it was nice to actually meet him. Good comms, a friendly welcome, all quite painless and I'd have no hesitation in dealing with him again. (Also, he is anything but hamfisted. Just in case you were wondering )
15.
That's a truly awful animation. Is it really necessary?
I agree.
16. Anything particular you're after, trades-wise?
17. I'm guessing this is a Kay: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Old-Bass-Guitar-With-Case-/181416173495?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item2a3d3f1fb7
18. You'll never get rid of that one And you might just find you start looking for excuses to play fretless. Kudos!
19. They are lovely. If I have a beef with them it's that they can seem too light...
20. I think we should just brush that hastily under the carpet...
21. What's the neck like? treetrunk, P-ish, J-ish, Peavey?
