1. I bought the first one. Didn't like the drumming. That was enough for me.
2.
Three weeks.
Two days... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TENNESSEE-15-STRING-EXTENDED-RANGE-BASS-/291606350777?hash=item43e517cbb9:g:bJwAAOxycgVTixwQ
3.
If this is of the same vintage as the RBX250, heel-end adjuster, a standard Gibson key fits.
Thank you I'm sure it is; it's a heel-end adjust, and it's been around. I think the '200 is just a lower-rent '250. I'll find a Gibson key and update the thread when I have more info.
4. Yamaha BEX 4 with frets
5.
Bump for a BCer who's clearly getting fed up of bumping
Thank'ee kindly, young gennleman!
6. Trashed for a video. Somebody had more money than sense, IMO.
7. Sorely missed.
8. Seems OK to me. At least to look at.
9. I bought a "best of" a while back. Weather Report and his solo stuff, mostly. A great player, clearly, but I didn't care about what he was playing. Today I heard Joni Mitchell's 'Don Juan's Reckless Daughter' for the first time - bought mostly because I hadn't heard much by Joni and knew Jaco played on it. Bloody hell. That's going to take some serious listening. His work on that makes all sorts of sense to me; maybe because my first instrument was cello.
10.
Also, big bands like to throw pics at the audience
Fixed
11. I don't see that many items described as rare here; certainly nowhere near as many (proportionately) as eBay. Maybe it's because I'm not looking at the Fenders?
12. Just wondering if I should put this in the 'Basses For Sale' section. It is a bass, after all. I think I'll see if anyone replies to this
13. Can anyone point me at a source for a truss rod spanner for a Yamaha RBX200? It just needs to fit, I don't care about it being "official". Any info gratefully received. Thanks
14. I'm glad you've survived it and have a way forward. Good luck!
15. Let's hope it's someone here
16.
Still a bit sluggish, though.
Eyes on stalks... who needs drumsticks?
17.
To be fair, he is probably quite attached to it, by now.
By gravity. He must be quite close to its event horizon...
18. Being sold hastily before Hampshire breaks its moorings due to high vibration levels...
19.
All the posts about getting him to listen to how crap he sounds are making the assumption that he will think it sounds as crap as everyone else does. The fact that he continues to use his particular sound would unfortunately tend to indicate that he's quite happy with it.
True. But actually knowing that is a big step towards sorting it out - one way or another.
20.
A possible solution. Guitar amps are more directional than bass amps and unless he has a decent amp stand his amp will be pointing at his knees. This means he will only be hearing the bass from his amp and not the screetchy high notes. He is probably eq'ing so it sounds good where he is standing and he is turning up so he can hear clearly when well off the axis of the speaker. Explain politely you think this may be happening and ask him to lean the amp back at rehearsals so his ears are in line with the speaker axis. If he balances the sound then it should sound better for everyone. Then he needs to get a stand so the speakers are pointing straight at his ears at gigs too. I've used this tactic successfully more than once.
Possible alternative way to the same end: Buy/lend him a wireless rig, so he can go walkabout, and find out how crap he sounds for himself.
