1. Kramer the Duke... Great tone, but oh dear. - Temperature-sensitive neck. It's aluminium; it changes length with temperature. So it goes out of tune, quickly. - The bridge... it's a BBOT with the strings run through it at an angle. That means that if you put roundwounds on it, the E-string can't be tuned correctly, because the winding of the string catches on the edge of the bridge.
2. If this is in decent nick it might be a good buy - a USA-made Peavey for £130. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/peavey-foundation-bass-guitar-/151935696703?hash=item236012bf3f:g:MqIAAOSwHaBWhsrk
3. ahem... http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/TENNESSEE-15-STRING-EXTENDED-RANGE-BASS-/291630566887?hash=item43e6894de7:g:bJwAAOxycgVTixwQ
4. 11. Not bad given that I haven't been a fan for years.
5. Have you tried putting a different neck on it?
6.
Right handed four string acoustic is back. http://www.thomann.d...ic_bassdeko.htm
... and gone; now showing Sold Out. But also On Request, from the Decorative Guitars and Basses page http://www.thomann.de/gb/decorative_guitars_and_basses.html So I don't know what's going on, as usual.
7. Nice work. As someone said, they may not be very demonstrative, but I'm sure they were enthusiastic
8. I'm surprised it's still here.
9. I think he has an exaggerated idea of the value of guitars
10.
Staying home tonight while my band is out gigging because I was given an impromptu flying lesson by a car driver while out on my bike a few weeks ago. Might have managed the gig from my wheelchair but not with my left arm in a cast from knuckles to above the elbow.
Painful! Best of luck with it. I suppose the bike is written off as well?
11. Looks lovely
12. I assume the bass is bolt-on? My amateurish start would be to remove and refit (not change) all the parts - bridge, neck, nut. It seems more likely than the wood, to me.
13.
Sorry to kinda resurrect an old thread but an old friend of mine had an Infinity fretless 5 string bass in natural hanging on his wall. I was over his on monday and he just gave it to me. Being a 4 string fretted bassist, 5 string, unlined fretless scared the hell out of me but this bass is really easy to play. I might give the pick ups an upgrade to something like some EMG HZs or whatever then use it on some of the slow parts for my bands album. Might have to be a cheat though and add side markers for the fret lines...
All info gratefully received! Sounds like a score, too
14. 70s glam. Roxy, Bowie, etc..
15.
With this hunk o junk, you could play the kessel run in record time
... or at least TIE with someone else
16.
Not wishing to be negative or cast nasturtiums on your creative abilities, but I think it would probably save you a world of time and grief if you bought a used case and relined it to your specifications.
Ta! That was what I was going to do... I think I may have to give up on this thread, because it's obvious my OP didn't do what I wanted it to.
17. Could I be on the list please? Probably a somewhat vain hope but you never know
18. That adds new fear to the phrase "multiple loggins", which I see often as part of my work...
19. Clever I should do something like this.
20. How are decisions made? What are we trying to do? Who does the arrangements? Do I have to sing?
21. Looks like a bit of AT-AT to me.
