  1. I might be being a bit premature as the MXR still sounds quite a bit better in combination with my Mastotron than the Octabvre does. Edit - actually, it seems to depend on which bass I use.
  2. Thinking of letting this excellent pedal go. This is hands down the best tracking octaver I’ve used (I just have something else whose sound and functionality I slightly prefer). It’s in excellent condition and I’ve owned it from new. This was a warranty replacement from MXR as the first one I bought was from the initial run which had the noisy circuit. This one has the resistor which is now standard so it’s ultra quiet. Comes with all original packaging, power supply, etc. Wonderful pedalboard-friendly size and sexy blue sparkle finish. @SumOne, was it you wanted to build a board entirely using 1590a pedals?
  3. How is this still here so cheap?
  4. Just when my gear habits were calming. MXR octavers have the best tracking I’ve ever encountered so I’m sure this will be worth checking out.
  5. I’d love to give one a try as I’ve heard good things about them.
  6. They went within minutes. He did it three times at the end of December.
  7. Finally, 13 months after I ordered one (and cancelled)!
  8. I wonder if Jon has made a note somewhere and could tell me.
  9. Sweet colour and choices, though I’m not into the relic look, otherwise this would have been very tempting. How accurate are the pictures at representing the colour? It looks similar to my Miami Blue P bass and that is so difficult to capture the true colour.
  10. It’s a blessing and a curse. I’m driving myself nuts trying to nail down a nut width and corresponding 1st and 12th fret depth measurements. Trying to get my hands on a few more basses to get a better idea. What are your favoured dimensions?
  11. Are you looking at the one in Bass Direct by any chance? I’m hoping to get to try that before I send Jon my final specs for my build.
  12. I came across him only by looking into who wrote the original version of the track. My friend urged me to listen to this version, which has Joe Henderson tearing things up:
  13. I might sell mine at some point…
  14. Breath-controlled distortion pedal sounds like a great idea. This could easily be done with a Source Audio pedal and a MIDI breath controller.
  15. How will these fare with touring musicians who need to fly? These are going to look funny in the liquids bag!
  16. Finally a pedal designed to sound better when an audience member spills beer on it. Visions of a male guitarist visiting A&E with one of these attached to his Netherlands trying to explain that he was indeed only trying to fill it with liquid as he was “experimenting”.
  17. Agreed (as we both owned the same one).
  18. Had it not been for my resolve of not buying another bass until the one I have for sale goes (hopefully at the weekend) I would’ve got the this. Wish you’d listed a week later.
  19. @lee650 Was mine so you know it’s got the fonk.
  20. Actually, I reckon 26 people could chip in £50 each. We buy a bass. Everyone has it for two weeks. After that we sell it, buy another and pass that round. Probably way less money than we all spend constantly churning gear.
  21. Seriously tempting. Shame they got rid of the sculpted neck joint. (The joint has actually been incorporated into the latest Stingray design.)
  22. Check your bass is set up properly too and you haven’t got really heavy strings on and/or really high action/high neck relief. There will be some discomfort until your fingertips build up some hard skin. I’d really recommend using double bass fingerings in the very first frets (fingers 1, 2 and 4 over a 3-fret space) as it’s a much more comfortable spacing, especially if you have a small hand span.
