  1. Yes, the Origin stuff holds up really well against the “real thing”; I love the two I have. I agree. For £600 the Celebrity pedal looks aesthetically unappealing. Could also do with a more robust tube cage. I’d still like to try one if I can. I’m not on IG so have only managed to hear one short demo. The Grand Slampegg has been the best I’ve tried so far.
  2. A few competitors now in the firm of Grand Slampegg and the Celebrity pedals one but still…
  3. Manual is up: https://manuals.morningstar.io/ml5r/ml5r-user-manual
  4. Oh, and for anyone interested in Shift Line stuff, it took 15 days from purchase to delivery.
  5. Just dipped my toes a bit deeper into the world of cab sim and amp sim IRs:
  6. Here’s a useful bit of info I got in a reply from Greg when I messaged him last night with my name suggestions. “Hey Peter, thanks for the message. Feel free to message on Instagram.com/celebritypedals in future as the Tube Preamp will only be available via DM through PayPal. You can choose any name and image you want for it! Thanks again. Greg”
  7. Off the top of my head: B15 Town (teen town (Jaco, who was at least a bass player) / Motown)
  8. Damn right I’m interested. Thanks for tagging me. Pretty steep price though, and as he’s based in Turkey for half the year, possibly subject to another £150 in taxes and fees. I get the pun but the the Nirvana reference is so far removed from the B15 sound. I’m sure there could be puns that gave a closer association to that era.
  9. I miss my big box qtron.
  10. The Haz takes up a whole board by itself.
  11. I borrowed a Haz recently and really liked it. Dithered too long in getting one that came up on Reverb but now that the Behringer clone is official, I’ll likely go for that.
  12. Better might be to use a Boss LS-2 before it so that you can trim the volumes of both chains going into the preamp and use the footswitch to select between them.
  13. It’s definitely fun trying this stuff out but I’ll likely always return to these few staples: envelope filter; phaser; octaver; preamp with low-gain drive; compressor. And the FI4 with a stereo delay and reverb, and maybe stereo chorus.
  14. I think I can probably slow down a bit now. I’ve found some nice preamps that do the (old school) things I was after with my rosewood P bass/flats combo. At some point I might revisit things for use with the maple P/rounds combo as that’s a very different vibe. I found I dismissed the Capo quickly as it didn’t do the old school stuff as well as other things but it really added some heft to my Octabvre and was good for sparkly stuff, but probably overkill if all I’d ever use it for were clean sounds. I’m sure there’s other stuff that can do that. I need to explore my SA Bass ZIO for those kinds of sounds before acquiring more stuff. I may even be able to let go of a couple of more things. Then I think the only other thing I’d really like to get again would be a simple analogue lowpass envelope filter and the Behringer MuTron III clone might just fit the bill; nice and cheap too.
  15. Fliptop is great but the GS has proper tube goodness.
  16. Decided to get one for myself after shifting a few things.
