  1. Some will buy stuff, because it's a particular 'brand'. The latter is not synonymous with quality. The same goes for music.
  2. Jamman + switch pedal, cable, compact flash card & adapter. Owned from new and everything works as it should. Unfortunately I can no longer find the original box or manual (pdf manual below). Good condition, apart from some scratches in the paintwork as it's lived in a bag with other gear. Yours for £65 posted in the UK. digitech-jamman-stereo-looper-phrase-sampler-jml2-b-h-photo-187309-user-manual.pdf
  3. I don’t mind the noise or ‘clankiness’ where online demos are concerned. I like the unprocessed aspect of it, as it reflects reality. If you’re using hollowbody instruments with roundwounds and room mics, any noise is impossible to eliminate. I’ve listened to some online demos which are heavily processed (especially compression), which loses the vibe for me.
  4. Boss EH-2 Enhancer, very good condition, fully working order, now sold. Comes with manual (slightly soiled) and box cover only. Only ever used at home. Interesting pedal and there is some debate as to exactly what it does, I'll leave that for further research 😉.
  5. That looks mighty good, even without all the ‘bling’.
  6. I’d like to hear from someone who doesn’t buy a bass based on looks, because most of us do. I suppose if it’s for recording only, it’s the sound which matters (looks not being important if you’re on radio 😉).
  7. Aidan bought some Jazz parts (control knobs) from me. Super slick transaction and clear communication.
  8. Unbranded machine heads, which fit Jazz / Precision style headstock (removed from Allparts Jazz neck) - £10 including UK postage. Very nice condition (no paint chips), complete with bushes, screws and string retainer (round D/G type). Screws, bushes & string retainer also black.
  9. Vintage style control plate (unused) - £5 including UK postage.
  10. Now SOLD. Stacked pots for vintage Jazz Bass - genuine Fender (one packaged, other unpackaged). Note: these do not include mounting hardware or capacitors.
  11. Bass TAB White Pages 160 Songs and 200 Songs. Both good condition. Price £15 each, which includes UK postage.

  13. You can’t judge a book by the cover - Bo Diddly.
  14. I’d have a flashing LED in the empty hole - used to be really cool in the 80’s (Status basses springs to mind 😎).
  15. Jonas Hellborg had the right idea when it was just him performing on bass - no delusional ‘snow flakes’ required. I‘ve ditched all my band members and focus on solo bass (in my bedroom, at home, on my own 😉). I won’t ever be disappointed.
  16. I’ve found clip-on mics, which are invariably condenser types, to be quite problematic regarding feedback, even outdoors and at moderate to low amplified volumes. If you’re going this route, you’ll need a way to cut the low frequencies (high pass filter), which are most likely to cause feedback. It’s good to have a plan B, such as an inexpensive piezo pickup, or take an electric bass just in case. There are too many variables outdoors, and it’s quite remarkable how much wind noise a clip on mic can pick up.
  17. A graphite neck makes much less of a difference compared to strings, pickups and pickup location, although that may be going down the rabbit hole of which wood / materials make the most difference to sound. As mentioned earlier, the audience is much less critical of the bass’s sound than us bass players. I’ve only ever had complimentary remarks on my sound, which at the time was a fretless, headless Status king bass, which I used for a wide range of musical styles & genres. Sometimes our perception of what the bass sounds like is very different to what people hear out front.
  18. Not sure… They’ve been developed by a Russian chap though…
