  4. @skidder exactly. they said about recording an album my first question was so how much are the label putting in @lozz they did a headline tour abroad last year and lost a fortune
  5. They most probably do,I just think its a bit of a p*** take to be honest.I don't mind going paying for flights and hotels ,sell a bit or merch and hopefully break even but to pay a big wedge for the privelige !
  6. Yeah if we could be 100% certain of merch sales it wouldnt be to bad.I can afford the expenses of bands (ie rehearsal fees) but cant afford that financial risk. And apart from that even if I had the money I don't think I would want to pay it on principle
  7. recently joined a friends band who are signed to a European label, Things are going great writing a 3rd album etc. I have always been a big no-no when it comes to the pay2play and when I do gig I don't mind getting paid only a few quid ie petrol money and a few beers. We have been offered a few tours over in Europe, One with a band called Six feet under (big death metal band in the states) weve been asked for 6000 euros for 9 date trek !!!!!!!!! There have been other thrown around and they are all if you want the tour its big ££££££££££ personally think the whole thing stinks......Opinions ?
  8. Opeth at Wembley arena tomorrow.Sitting near the back but apparently they have adjusted the seating so the back is only half way down
  9. I see the AK at the underworld.I must admit I did get a bit misty eyed at their glorious return. Its a longgggg way from when I used to see them at the red eye in Camden 17 odd years ago,Glorious stuff
  10. my other bands pretty sensible in the sense that if we get offered a midweek gig outside of London we give it the elbow as the logistics are a pain. the other band the member are pretty flexible with their leave so are looking into tours and recording where min is more of a pain to sort.I suppose I was worried about my place being in jeopardy but as UK LEFTY put it perfectly, when a band pays more than your day job then it can take priority
  11. morning all just after some opinions. I having nightmare with my work regarding annual leave, its chaos trying to get time off. My band are now understandably getting twitchy as we are trying to find time to record a new album and book gigs. I hate the idea of booking a gig midweek and then racing somewhere on the train.I prefer the comfort of having the day of and preparing properly. Anyone else have trouble with their bands regarding leave ? Jamie

  17. ive never played one but am a big ibby fan. the rise in quality from the sr300 to the sr500/600 is amazng.so am assuming the same from 500 to 1200
  18. ive played a gig before where the bass was literally inaudible to anyone. I was the only one with balls in the band I asked 3 times to be turned up and the soundman did nothing. after the next song I took my bass off stood it up and walked off stage and said theres no point me being there.

  22. the tuning will be B,F#,B,E. I don't mind adjusting saddles and tweaing truss rods I just don want to bugger the nut in case I go back to standard tuning with 45-105s
  23. Can just about get my small fingers round a 4 let alone a 5
  24. Question for you all. I'm in a band which plays in drop d so easily done on a 4 string but have been asked to play with another band who will play in drop b. I have no desire to buy a 5er and I'm not keen on the idea of messing up my 4s to much. Even if I had a pro set up and changed it back a year later I don't fancy it. Anyone else turned a band down cos of pain in the ass tunings ?
