Couldn't be more different . 1- Michael Manring - the book of flame 2 - Steve Lawson - grace and gratitude 3 - Anthony Jackson - anything! 4 - John Patitucci - line by line 5 - Jonas Hellborg - silent life
Plus one on this I think line by line has been one of my favourite album for a long time -

Guys bare in mind that I'm not trying to build a studio in a room . Is a very large barn conversion which I. W rented a year upfront to do some recording . I m trying to build something good enough so I can record some music and put it up on the market. Money of course is an issue but I do have some to spend on it . Probably try to spend them soundproofing etc . I'm gonna use lol fix just for now as I own the licence but thinking on upgrading to monthly plan of pro tools . Amazing deal eh?under £20 a month. Also I'm looking to get a nice power synth like omnisphere . Upgraded today to mac tower 5.1 12 core 64gb ram Couple more mics I ve bought today 2 rode nt5 and a Shure beta 91 . So now this is the equipment Mac 5.1 12 core 64 ram Apogee quartet Audient id14(spare) Se 5600ii Shure sm58 sm57 Cad drum mics Plus Shure beta 81 2 rode nt5 2 Berhinger c4 Yamaha rydeen drum kit Yamaha clavinova piano Hammond organ Gk 212s bass cab plus gk head Ashdown 2x10 cabs plus Hartke 250 head Rat valve guitar amp(plus another 5 guitar amps like valve amp peavey line 6 Marshall etc Epiphone 339 guitar Fender strat Mexican Peavey falcon made in USA Martin acoustic Yamaha and cort classic guitar Eris monitor 8 x2 2x lg screen Akg k702 headphones Couple of sennheiser headphones and some studiospare one Lots of basses ahahah And GAS continues.......... looking to build a vocal booth next and space for drums Let me know if I'm doing well ;-)
Really depends on whether you intend to mix in the same space as record. Room problems (standing waves, early reflections) occur in most household rooms that would make your monitors less "truthful" and make it hard to do mixes that translate well in other places! Adding channels via ADAT is an effective way of expanding your kit to record drums - i recently purchased Audient ASP800 for this very reason, and connect it via ADAT whenever I need more channels than my RME's have. I guess you should be careful about whether you are trying to optimise the space for recording, or mixing. Fashion nowadays is to record as dry as possible - which can be helped by doing things like hanging up duvets behind the singer. lots of good advice in Sound on Sound articles. That may work for a corner of your "mixing room", but an entirely different approach / new set of compromises may be needed if you want to record drums in the same space as you mix / monitor. Drums normally sound best in a good room, so making it completely "dead" is unlikely to get great results IMO... It is definitely a journey, so take your time, experiment, and try to understand some of the physics underlying what's happening - then you can address problems as you become more and more aware of them. I guess I'm saying that you shouldn't expect to have a great sounding space with perfect results straight away - but don't get discouraged! It's definitely a hugely complex area - with the key pothole being that you can easily sink lots and lots of money into things that make objectively little difference to the results. Studio gear GAS is even more dangerous than bass/guitar GAS, in my experience... you've been warned!
thank you for your opinion man . def recording and mixing in the same space . however the room is massive , is an old barn so very cool . i will post some picture for you P.s i know about Gas , is crazy i could sell my wife ;-)
I don't think that posting personal comments about the guys who work there is right. If you've got a problem with how someone is then keep it to yourself. If you've nothing nice to say then don't say anything, as my mom always said when I was a child.
100% agreed . Not need to mention names , been to BD several times and always been great ! Emailed Mark and got reply after 20 min ! If you had a bad experience keep it to yourself and don't purchase from them anymore ! also I don't think BD is overpriced at all
Maybe have a look here... Exeter Phoenix Sound Engineer courses ... ... or similar, in your region..? It would appear that you could benefit from a short, intensive course on the whole subject. There's a lot to it; it might be worth your while to invest a bit of time and money in decent training..? We still don't know if this is just to record yourself, or to create a commercial recording studio, though.
this is def good . i don t have problem recording and mixing when everything else is set up . is just the set up which i m not so sure ......... but ill def look to take a course

I think I'm gonna go for the Ada8200 . Gonna see if I manage to put all the lot together . So do you recommend feeding the output of the ada8200 into a mixer/console o there is no need of a mixer ?
