1. If you put a full neck pocket shim in, you can keep it high over the [pickup, but lower it by the bridge end, assuming it is shimmed at one end currently.
2. As soon as someone inflicts their personal problems on you, time to bitch about it. A very excellent drummer I jammed with once messaged saying his daughter is ill so can't make next practice, and doesn't want to be 'that guy' so is out of the band. That's fair, annoying, but much less annoying that doing that at random intervals for the next year. Also, see the entire history of the blues for where music sits in relation to having life difficulty.
3. Isn't this a bolt neck? Thus height is not an issue.
4. lolz
5. Rob's given this to me for assembly, as I've done a fair bit more of this sort of stuff, and have the tools. Just did a dry run, first setback, the route isn't big enough for the nice big CTS pots, gonna need a mini one for the tone. All three are the same sort and there seems to be all sorts of debate on mixing log and lin for volume and tone. 6. Graphite is slippery. Good for if you have a detuner. Don't those basses have a switchy nut or something?
7. Playing in the Croft front room on the 20th, everyone is borrowing my cab, so you'll get a range of amps going in. My set won't help you much cause I'm using a guitar rig at the same time. It is the Super 15, which is a double Compact basically.
8. That with or without post? Kinda after the neck not the machine heads, even though I just sold a maple Ryder neck, since I scored a body to go with.
9. Jolana getting sensible in price: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Vintage-Jolana-D-bass-1986-neckthrough-E-bass-/150674006892?pt=UK_Musical_Instruments_Guitars_CV&hash=item2314dee36c
10. Bah, I'd have paid up to about £35 for that.
11. Why bother with basic sanding, or a finish, or high grade woods? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/GIBSON-BFG-Bass-Worn-Ebony-/200660873242?pt=Guitar&hash=item2eb851f01a Seem to have stuck to their own pricing though.
12.
Ha that looks crazy. Never seen it before. Really liked the sound of the GK Henry The 8x8 though. What's the idea behind this?
Isn't that SWR?
13. 95% sure the point of the multiway BF cabs is they are true to the input, thus sound the same as DIing to a decent PA.
14. Check this out: http://www.gumtree.com/p/for-sale/gallien-krueger-9x6-bass-amp-cab-unique-prototype/89091392
15. Good parts, bad install.
16. Tasty upgrades on the bass side too.
17. Eltham Jones at Edge covers Cardiff in his rounds: http://www.edgeguitarservices.co.uk/ He has some grumpy old man going, but he takes teching seriously. He has a quote from Si OldGit on his site, and was recommended by him.
18. The point of plywood is that it renders an inconsistent material consistent. You can take wood with all its flaws and inconsistency, and laminate it to provide some consistency in the end product.

20. Gah, thought this was gonna be a 'withdrawn' so I can stop checking my account balance and deducting £1300.
21. Sound City 150 Sound City Slave 120: Tons more of this with regular updates in my blog linked in sig.
22. If its easy to make it to Bristol I'd be interested, might end up on the Gryphon wall if I can't make something interesting of it.
23. Whereabouts are you? Few people might be about that can look at it today. In fact, I'll pm my number as I'm off out in a sec, but I could take a look if you are in bristol this eve.
24. OK, so two of them are signed up but barely post (Bunjy and ChiSeerkind), but on average we have a lot of posts. They are doing their thing, and since its the debut of the band, I'm not fully sure what that thing is, but likely to be heavy. I'm doing what is in theory a solo bass and amps and effects noise thing, but likely to have a vocalist along and make things a bit interesting as well as deafening. Time: 20 October · 18:30 - 23:30 Location: The Croft - front bar 117-119 Stokes Croft Thread - Bristol noise veterans return to make a lot of noise in a small room. http://threadest1999.bandcamp.com/ Fresh Milk - Thrash punk hardcore from Bristol. http://freshmilk.bandcamp.com/ Sonance - Atmospheric noise/doom from ex Mea Culpa/Cadence/Our Logic dudes.https://www.facebook.com/sonancenoise Warrior Pope - [s]One man [/s]bass drone noise. One man and possibly a vocalist man in addition. Warning, may feature pig squeals.
