1.
Just updated this bit, hopefully it answers the above questions: http://barefacedbass...h-barefaced.htm
Kind of get the impression you've been excited and wanting to say stuff for a while. Edit: Hre's what I'm after:
'69er update and a sister 2x15" The '69er has thus been updated to Generation Three spec and we've created a sister cab for this old yet new sealed 6x10, a ported 2x15" the exact same size and shape for those who want a less bright, more thunderous and even louder old school sound
Not instead of my 2 Super 15s, in addition to. Doom.
 2. Hmm, does that put the deliberately coloured 69er out of production?
 3. Reckon it will be a thunderbird with a jazz neck and some other pickups. Seems his style.
 4. Insuring stuff to value is really expensive, and they find every excuse not to pay, they full on lost an amp months ago, fully insured and are still finding excuses to not pay out, including impounding and searching every other amp I send since they fit the description of a box with an amp in, this has caused several delays. I have a contracted guy who handles all the BS, so I just have to supply the pics, but chances are they'll pay out £100 for this, after denying they did the damage and it must have been sent like that, because the box wasn't pierced.
 5. Street party gig. Had to tune to a small boy: Used to venues that can't afford security to stop idiots coming on stage and messing with gear, but usually at those making your own physical arrangements with said persons is regarded standard practice, here, not so much, so my set suffered from a guy coming on stage and kicking the power off.
 6. Thanks to TNT this is my forthcoming Barefaced repair: Note that all the braces in the port are disconnected, so can assume all the ones inside are the same. They'll pay out £100 if I'm lucky.

 8. ECC83 in the preamp section, EL84 in the power section. Phase inverter might be an ECC81 or 82, can't remember
 9. What is the deal with claiming things are prototypes? Has one ever genuinely been one? I've seen prototypes, they don't tend to be things that you'd want in favour of a proper thing. Pre production model, maybe.
 10. How flat you can get the neck sort of depends on how level the frets are. Perfect frets mean thick paper sized gap, chances are you don't have perfect frets.
 11.
Interesting. Is it important for the laminations to be made of different woods?
No to bits of wood are going to be the same. If you are laminating the same piece of wood chopped up, you flip them over so any tendency for it to develop a twist will oppose each other. Lots goes on internally in wood, not nearly as simple as all these statements make out.
 12.
Interesting that. I've been mulling over switching to an S15 myself.
Probably should bear in mind my idea of loud enough involves two S15s and two 200w valve amps.
 13. I've found not quite loud enough even with a Barefaced super 15, for fairly polite stuff. Good for casual jamming.
 14.
Which of those did McCartney do with the Beatles? I don't remember any clank or clang there.
Left the flats on it.
 15. They did a fair few funnies. There was one giant multi driver thing that only worked paired up with a specific trace head. In that cab, the 5s will be midranges and don't factor into the wattage rating, since the watts are in the bass.

 17.
I read some catch fire, maybe due to the lack of a fan for the 8 kt88s?
Lack of maintenance and abuse is generally the reason. The VBA400 is like the low bidder version, don't know how they fare.
 18.
A store has a Marshall 2001, maybe I should get it
Think Thornybank on here has one still, might wind up better price. Those are beasty amps.

 20.
Thanks for the replys . Mr F,I'd like something for home use and small shows . The v8 is brilliant but it's flight cased and isn't practical for me to transport . I suppose I'm looking for advice re smaller set up . . I use a fender P and my mine bass is a Gibson EB2 . All I want to achieve is a full bass sound that you feel . I imagine it may be difficult as I'm used to playing loud . Forgive my lack of knowledge and hope you can help
How small and light are you aiming? The Hrtke LH stuff has basically the same tone stack as the V-type if you use it clean. I have a Trace V-type pre that might be going, pair it with a light power amp, like and IPR, and score a valve power amp for when you want to go big.
 21.
You could say much the same of most bass tones from the past few decades though. And even many of the supposedly "Hi-Fi" tones depend on a heavily voiced signal chain of some sort too...
Dunno about most, within certain genres maybe. Even the SVT is fairly clean up until its cranked into drive. Loads of bass is done straight to desk, can't really do much cleaner than that. Like Motown.

 23. When did a manual start coming with? Totally didn't see one with my S15, guess was a while back now.
 24. Definite theme of all the tone come from a driven valve amp going on, even Macca, who you wouldn't generally associate with drive, has a small combo pushed thing going on.
 25. V8 is big enough to be specialist, can ask a high price because not many about, but someone actually after one is gonna also be rare. Ampeg Portaflex is pretty not comparable in any way, so might need to put up some details as to what you want to do, to go anywhere with that.
