1. Brilliant. I hoped as much!
2. Just a quick Q: I'm going to be running Shockwave's old Crown power amp (1900 watts) and a Sansamp RBI - both require a kettle lead. Can I use a dual ended kettle lead to save on cabling (like the type occasionaly used with multiple desktop PCs/servers) considering the sansamp is unlikely to draw a lot of current?
3. Standard depth Gator rack case. Nice, solid bit of kit, lightly used. £50 + postage

I never met Si in person but he always stuck me as a genuine, warm hearted individual. He sent me a lot of helpful advice about band management and as I'm sure you all know he's been one of the friendliest and most helpful members of these forums for as long as I can remember posting. RIP Si.
5. I'd be interested in the Sansamp, but need to know the price first
6. Well, many thanks to Oli for letting me use his Matamp power amp at practice tonight. It turns out my cab is fine, and it's my amp that's clipping - I guess due to it being asked to do more than it's power amp can handle. With my Landmark 300 working as the preamp and the Matamp power amp, I had tons of volume, loads of punch, and more low end than I knew what to do with, even in a large practice room. You know what that means... Power amp GAS. Thanks for the advice all!
7. I AM THOR, ARROGANT GUITARISTS! NOW... FEEL MY HAMMER!
8. It's strange really, as I managed to get the bottom end I desired with the same amp and my old 1212L, just not quite at the volume I needed. With this cab I can get the volume but only at the expense of some bottom. I might be making unreasonable demands of both, mind. The drummer hits like a dinosaur and I'm up against two 100 watts valve amps running through 4x12s. Cranked.
9.
Listen to each speaker and see if one is complaining a bit more, if one is a bit duff, it can throw the tuning of the rest out and cause upset. Does the head have a line out? There is a Matamp Quasar power amp in an MDF box at RS that is mine, if you are still there. Run the pre into that, into the cab, you should have a bit more headroom, plus LED indicator to tell you how close to clipping the amp is, it is very neutral voiced, and recently tested so it outputs the full 500w from one side at 4ohm. Should be able to figure if its amp of cab being upset that way.
Yes mate, we're in RS tonight. If you dont mind me doing that, I'd appriciate it, as it should make it pretty clear cut if the cab is indeed the culprit. The cab sounds fine at lower volumes - I'd imagine a duff speaker would be apparent all the time?
10. I'm not sure I can get on with that song. I have trouble liking a lot of Zappa's output though to be fair, despite the obvious genius. I like this though!
11. I can compete with mids ok, it's just filling out the bottom end when it seems to strain under my demands. I'll try reducing the input levels tonight and boosting the master, if that doesnt work then I suppose I'll have to try another amp with the cab.
12. I'll try that tonight at rehearsal. I do tend to run the "drive" control quite high, but that's where all the lovely sansamp grindyness comes from.
13. Not a clue I'm afraid. Might have to whip the grill off at the weekend. I wish my head had a clip light!
14. Hello! I use a Tech 21 Landmark 300 watt head with a Schroeder 410L. I've noticed when I push the volume to loud practice levels I'm getting distortion but I cant really tell if its the cab or the amp - I have to be very picky with my EQ and roll back the bass quite a bit in order to compete with our drummer and guitarists. Now, the Schroeder is rated to something like 1200 watts, so it should be able to cope with everything my head can throw at it, right? I've pretty much got the bass control set flat and the treble rolled off a touch, but if I boost the bass at all when I'm running at full tilt I get a horrible buzzy distortion. Do I need more power? How can I tell?
15. That's a good looking Streamer alright.

I have a feeling you're not actually going to get a lot of consensus on this

Make it a precision and it's a deal. I'm not a fan of Wizzard pickups myself, though. Good service, mind.
18. Yeah, a Stingray 5 would be a solid bet I'd say. Based on how much I like my Spector, I'd be inclined to suggest a Euro 5 too.
19. I gave my bass a full setup last night and due to getting persistant problems with string buzz, I decided it was time to raise the action from my medium low height and add a touch more relief. What a difference! No buzz, notes ring clear, and the whole bass just sounds better. I think I've realised that with my ham fisted technique I really cant make a low action work for me.
20. That looks great, well done!
21. This is a really good site - so good in fact I've discovered my main bass isnt what I thought it was! I thought it was a Legend 5 Custom but they're advertised as having a set neck and 3 band EQ - mine is definately a through neck and has a 2 band EQ. By the looks of things I in fact have an NS-20005. I'd never heard of that model line before! Nice bass whatever the model name though, and that's all that really matters.
22. Status S2 Classic bolt ons tend to go for around 1K. I doubt you'd find a better built bass for double that.
23. They still feel quite like rounds, albiet with a slipperyness that uncoated strings dont have. I'd say they would be kinder than regular rounds but they still might chew the board up given time.
24. I think Cass is probably my biggest influence in terms of rock bass playing. Love his Cutlass basses, so cool. This is fantastic:
25. By the sounds of it then, a stonking bargain! If I had the funds I'd no doubt take it and put a status neck on it. But I dont.
