To assuage my bass GAS I've decided to sell off some kit... M Audio Sono 61 Midi controller. Semi weighted keys, 2 piano voices (the grand is very good), harpsichord, electric piano and organ voices. No speakers built in so you need to use an amp or external speakers. Comes with a nicely weighted sustain pedal and power supply. £180 Gator 2U rack case - £50 Warmoth thinline Strat withdrawn, I'd have to be insane to sell this.

I use a Sansamp/power amp combination with my 410L - sounds very punchy, the high end can be quite harsh however. Not so much a problem for me as I tend to roll the highs back in favour of the mids.

I love the low mid punch you get from a Warwick, hits you right in the gut. They always have a really natural sounding top end, not that hi fi, which I like. Used to love the looks, not so much anymore but I wouldnt say no to a nice Streamer like that.

I dont think you can really apply the label "trendy" to Jamiroquai... I dont think they've been trendy since about 1996

I once knew a chap who's dad walked Jay's dogs. Apparently he's a very pleasant and down to earth bloke in real life. Relatively speaking, of course.

Who was it who was going to buy me a present?

If that were a solid colour, or a darker wood... I still love the look of that BCR electronics setup. Mission control. -
a 15" is a slow moving sound...you can't hear it..? you pull a note and you get DNNNNKKK...when you want a much sharper hit. There is no way you can quicken that up. I am really surprised you have never come across this..It is classic..!!
Compare a single 15 to a single 10 or single 12 and I doubt you'd hear much difference in response. However! A single 15 compared to a 4x10... yes, I can relate to what you're getting at, definately. It's the reason I prefer using a 4x10 to a 1x15 - I dont know if its down to cab design, number of speakers, porting or whatever, but there is definately a difference in tone/response. I've heard it with my own two ears, I tells ya! I'll bet that a 4x15 will have just as much punch though, I really dont think the size of the speaker comes into it, more the configuration of the cab.

Yeah I do. Coolio, I've give you a bell on Saturday evening.

That's fine. Do you mind giving the headstock a quick sand to remove the sh*t decal? It's just a waterslide so should come right off with no fuss.

You home on Saturday? Playing at the Croft Saturday evening, most likely going to be giving this bass it's first outing.

It feels as smooth as a babys bum. £15 sounds fine to me. I guess the fretboard would need doing - what sort of colour would the neck/fingerboard end up?

How much we talking?

I've got a parts P bass that has gone through numerous incarnations (it started life as an Encore, once sported a Status neck, got caught sleeping with Ashley Cole and was also spotted on the grassy knoll back in '63) but is currently sporting an unfinished Mighty Mite neck. Lovely neck it is too! Anyhow, I was going to leave it as is, as it currently feels great. I've come to realise however, that if I dont finish it, it's going to get manky fast. So, as I dont particularly fancy spraying and sanding, are there any quick, easy rub on solutions that will protect the neck and leave a satin feel? Here's the beast: As an aside, that Fender decal looks pretty awful close up. I didnt do a great job applying it and it would look better over darker, finished neck anyway - I guess a bit of wire wool or 1500 grit wet and dry would be the best way to remove it?
groundwound rotosounds
I had to stop asking for ground down roundwounds in my local music shop after getting chased by the dog warden one too many times. Thank you, thank you. I'll be here all night.

Godspeed You Black Emporor! - Levez Vos Skinny Fists Comme Antennaes to Heaven Not heard in in around 10 years so thought I'd give it a spin. Incredible if slightly overblown album.

It's very common with Elixers. I used to use them with my ATK 300 too, and thought they were a good match. You don't have to change them until they start to sound dead, which can be a very long time with Elixers. I had a set on a bass for a full year before and they still sounded great.

If it's not too loud, it's too quiet.
Recently purchased u used P Bass body. The pickups/electronics seem to be grounded to a brass(?) plate beneath the pickup. Do I need to then ground that plate to the bridge or leave as is?
Everything should be grounded to the earth lug on the output jack, bridge included. Sounds a bit of a strange setup, its not the remenants of some cavity shielding is it?

Juan Alderete - his playing in the Mars Volta is so solid, inventive and just plain cool. He is capable of shredding round the fretboard at a rate of knots but crucially doesnt 99% of the time. He's a bit like a modern John Paul Jones in my eyes. Cass Lewis - Serious chops and my benchmark for rock playing from his work in Skunk Anansie. Brilliant, aggressive Stingray tone, totally underpins the band and his fills are always bang on for the song. He throws in some great funk and dub influenced lines too. Stuart Zender - Inspired me to actually become a decent bass player. When I first picked up the bass, aged 10 or so, Zender's playing caught my ear and made me want to be a good enough player to make the bass groove and flow within the song like he did.
I think this is being taken too far. You are at work, OK you have a problem with the possibility of co-workers seeing NSFW images, I understand that, but a safe for work alternative has already been given. Do we really want to moderate this forum to make the whole site safe for work? I was once pulled by the IT bods because I was browsing the 'Gear Porn' and this obviously triggered all sorts of alarm bells all the time. I wish it had a nicer name to stop it being a problem, but it is not fair to ask that it should be changed just to protect me from doing something that I shouldn't have been doing in the first place. I vote for leaving the site it as is. There is a 'lofi' solution to your problem If you don't want to use it then you must accept the consequences.
+ 1.
