1.
A player at a recent gig commented that the sound of the bass 'didn't seem to come out of the speaker; it just is.' The fidelity is second to none.
Your Schroeder is the same as mine. The 400watt neo version. Which is indicated by the 'L' otherwise its the ceramic 500watt ver. (which i assumed by your title). These mini cabs are amazing. Sooooo light yet so powerful. The quote above perfectly explains Schroeder full stop. They are designed to be like that, filling a room with sound instead of just firing it from the speaker. so it sound just as good if not better standing at the back of a venue. Only problem with my Schroeder.....because they are SO small and light, getting either a 1212 or 1210 would make barely a difference in weight and transport. Being just as easy to carry. Yet the 1210 is like 800/850 watts. Wow. So, schroeders only problem is making you want more schroeder! Jorg, you are a bad man indeed Very solid cabinet overall, dont let its size fool you, cause it will fool your drummer
2. +1 to no one cares! Because, really no one cares apart from yourself! (or us, and the few engineers that play bass or the few guitarist in a 3 piece) Id go and complain alot, not aggressively, but pushy like a guitarist. When he asks, tell him you want more than mud and a bit of attack in certain sounds, find an uppermid freq that works best and cut through the most. Done
3. +1 to the Schroeder cabinets and a micro head. Its basically going to come too: GenzBenz Shuttle 6.0 or the LM2/3 When you try them out, youll probably find the little mark the warmer, especially when you leave it flat and use the filters. If its warmest your after, the little mark will best suit. However, the shuttle 6 is a great bit of gear, and personally i'd pick it over the two. Very transparent amp, however that mid control can give any tone on demand. Those Schroeder cabinets are amazing. You need to try one out then youll understand. The also have a lowmid freq. Bump which youd probably like.
4. I think a black guard would go real nice on a CV Jazz, with the Oly White body an all! Just wondering, does Squier sell parts, or even a black plate for a CV? If not where would be the place to start looking for one that fits? Cheers!!
5. The SUBs are Poplar and the SBMMs are Swamp Ash. Theres lots of grain in the swamp ash, its also softer than the standard Ash used for EBMM. Not sure if anyone has seen a stripped body of a SUB? Right mess under that half inch finish!! Ofcourse, every wood is different regardless. String mutes? Hmmm, it would definitely would give it that Classic feel, but thats just a way of cutting back costs. Same as the lighter tuners, cheaper electronics and general build quality. But still these SBMM feel as solid as any SR ive played. Ofcourse you can always mod it and make it more Classic Ray sounding than it is. Nordstrand Pup and East Pre anyone? For the money, vs the standard EB Stingray this is a cracker. Purely because of the neck. Just as the SUB 5s are sought after because the scratchplate and controls are that of a SR4.
6. Well im glad i got my CV jazz instead of purchasing the Ray34. Means i can find one these This looks like a corker! Slim Glossy Maple neck.......i take it the pup is Alnico? Also, as its a Classic ray, i can see that theyve gone back to the original 2 'tabs' on the top of the pickup. I find this much more comftable for thumb placement. That was why i didnt jump straight in for the Ray34, that and it needed a decent setup. Ahhhhhhhh GAS overload........ Any other finishes annouced? The Swamp Ash in Natural finsh looks sexy!
7.
yes.........way too much, plus too many guys use the pre full on. Not a very subtle pre amp IMV...and East can be the same, but who runs them flat out, FFS..!!
I read a quote once from a pretty well know guitarist, Tom Erak. "For how expensive all this gear is it has to sound good with everything at 10!" He plays 2 Orange full stacks I use eden, which has a pretty sensitive preamp (i dare move them up 3 or so db or itd explode ha!) same with the Rays pre. A little does alot! Its all about EQ anyway! A jazz has its own basic curve, so does the stingray. They are good at getting that tone people buy them for, if you want a jazz sound, get a jazz. If you want a Stingray sound.....get a Stingray. If it really has too be in ONE bass get a Sterling HS, im not sure what the electronics are like but youll find a nice jazz tone i bet you. It doesnt do half bad as a Ray either.
8. The Pingray is great! Funny how the jazz body suits perfect +1 With getting a Deluxe Precision. If not how about the MM + neck jazz pup method? Theres a Cort in my local shop with this. It plays amazing, sounds even better and doesnt look too bad for the asking price. Ive seen some nice Corts go for pennies quite recently. Lakland would be the next best thing.
9. Why no Double Humbucker versions? I like the sound of getting the Black HB Jag and put another HB in. More so than a HB and Split neck pup anyway. The Jag HBs are just L2000 with a wierd looking scratch plate
10. LH500 It was made with the words 'less is more' in thought. Its flat at B:2 M:8 T:3 i believe so its got a massive mid scoop, remember this when you try it out. It was built to be easy to get a great sound. Apparently it sounds great at any setting. If anything, its missing a knob, a Gain! Even though it has a tube you dont have the option to push it so its constantly 'clean'. Only thing thats stopped me from buying one so far is the weight. Same with the peavey. everyone has mentioned about the dash on the peavey. I just find myself getting lost, and sound/tone suffering because.
11.
Good man! I also changed the guard on mine. I put on a black guard and was well pleased. On that nice blue finish a number of guards would look fantastic. Believe it or not I also had a stingray but preferred the SUB. The stingray was sold and I still have the SUB! All the best.
Black was my first thought! Cheers!
12. Ive always wanted a SUB and glad i looked through the 10 pages to find this Definitley changing the guard on this haha! I saw the graphite body in a shop when i first started bass as a kid and remember drooling over the bass! Hopefully he gets back to me soon shall have to send a PM! Think ive already made a decision, hopefully still for sale!
13.
Go on....you know you want to It's Christmas after all! Rocking bass and a rocking price too!
It really is! Im very tempted! Ive got a ray34 sitting in a shop with my name on it, but it plays like a bag of sh-t. So if for some reason its a dud or cant compete on the price of this. I'll be in touch very soon, just after the new year probably! (im just waiting for the guy at the music shop too attempt a setup!) Cheers, oh and its my favourite colour
14. I have an Eden EN400 head id be willing to trade! Im just round the corner too
