1.
Not trying hard enough. Actually, the only time I thought I broke a speaker that wasn't via playing a bass into hifi gear, was actually vibrating loose a connector.
What can I say, I know what farting sounds like and when I hear it I turn down or cut the lows
2. I know, I know, it's just a case of once bitten and all that I guess. I would like to try a Hartke cab, because I've heard good things about them generally.
3. Nope, never broken any speakers apart from these. These cones cracked all the way around the cone, almost as if they were brittle. I was only chucking 150 watts at them too! Moot point anyway as it wasn't a Hartke, but it still makes me suspicious...
4. I once owned a Behringer cab with metal cones which fractured and seperated from the edge of the driver after two rehearsals. Now, I know Behringer are a far cry from Hartke in the quality stakes, but it's make me think twice about metal cones.
5. It looks very interesting. If it can do that Sansamp-y warm saturation then I'll have serious GAS!
6. That headed S2 is really nice. Black hardware, a head, and a nice understated body wood to boot - ticks all the boxes!
7. I've used Parcel Force 48 numerous times and the item has always arrived intact and on time. The only issue I have with them is I've had a few cases where the delivery driver has left the item at the address and forged the recipients signature (my own in at least one instance when I've recieved a bass sent to me via parcel force).
8. Good point that! £350 seems a bloody bargain.
9. They do look great. What's the going rate for a basic Matamp 2x12 with neo speakers? Do they do custom bits like tilt back wheels/top mounted grab handles?
10. One of my favourite bands - seen them live twice now, although at their recent Bristol academy show the bass didn't come through that well. They still rocked hard though! Mute Print and Career Suicide are fantastic records. Ruiner is too, but I prefer the other two.
11. Are Sansamps digital? I've never used a POD but I know I'd take a Sansamp over a heavy, potentially unreliable valve amp any day of the week.
12. Definately! The important thing is they apparently sound great, old tech or not.
13. As far as I know, they hew their cabinets from solid tree trunks and line them with lead.
14. I use a bit of bass boost, a bit of a high mid boost on the parametric mid and a treble cut on my Landmark 300. It's based on a Sansamp though so a mid boost of some sort is essential really, the flat tone of the amp is very scooped.
15. Tegan and Sara - Sainthood. Crackin' record.
16. No, sorry. In fact, I've now decided to keep it. I used my newly aquired Spector through it today at band practice and it was a revelation - so much deeper and punchier a sound than I managed to get with the ATK. Turns out it was the choice of bass and not this cracking little cab that was the problem!
17. The Libertines - Up The Bracket. Pete Doherty may be a tit, but this is a great record.
18. Apparently these are on a par volume wise with the 1212L but with a flatter response, in which case, probably just a touch quiter than I'd like on it's own. I like to feel the bass like a kick in the balls
19. It's a possibility, that's for sure. I'll have a think. All depends on if/how I swap my current cab for an 8ohm one!
20. Hi, I'm in Bristol, but I think yours is an 8ohm cab yes? If so I probably wouldn't be interested, only really looking for a 4ohm 4x10. Size isn't a problem, bigger the better in fact (within reason!) - it's weight I want to keep down. No more than 30kg ideally.
21. Anyone got anything they might want to trade?
22. They almost look too nice, though. I'd be afraid of marking them!
23. The logo is a bit ugly, if I ever owned one it would come straight off - the cabs themselves look very classy though.
