1. Got the Trace cab home, looks and sounds great. Thanks a lot
2. I've had this for around 2 years now, and I need to get rid of it. It's a great little (big) effects unit and it'll do pretty much anything you ask it, but I'm not in a situation where I need effects, and I haven't had the time to have a proper play with it, so it's spent the last year doing nothing, and the money is could be put to better use. I've still got the original box for it along with the original manual and tone card. I'm based around the Manchester area if anyone wants to collect it, or I can post it for an additional cost, and I'm looking for around £100 as it's in pretty much mint condition. Oh yeah it's never left the house either and it really needs to be used instead of it sitting wasting away, so if anyone's got any questions, please feel free to ask Pictures'll come later.
3. Cool, I think my current Warwick gig bag has that, but it's a none leather one. Still a good bag though, but needs to go as there's a hole in the bottom currently covered in gaffa where the strap button has gone through
4.
I think that your best bet is just to practice more.I'd never recommend practicing blindfolded or whatever, just spend more time with the bass until the neck becomes second nature, and you don't need to look at it. Maybe you just aren't familiar enough with it for it to become your 'main' bass just yet.
That seems like the best bet, I've been playing unlined fretless for around 3 or 4 years now, and the neck is fine for me. I can see sod all, but I can just do it by feel and pitch now which is quite handy. I once pulled off a solo where the stage lights went to blackout on a chase pattern for no reason at all. I've always maintained that the nice thing about fretless, is that if you hit a wrong note, just slide up or down to the one you were meant to hit and only fellow fretless players will notice.... works a treat in the dark
5. I've only seen the pics on Thomann website, can you put up a sneak picture or two by any chance? I'm trying to decide which one I want at the moment
6. I used to own a Grind BXP NTB5. Absolutely fantastic bass that gigged for it's living and it never let me down (apart from a snapped E string) over the 5 or so years I owned it. In a way I miss it, but if I was to have another 5 string it'd have to be a fretless, and I needed the money to fund a new amp and so on. So it had to go. I'd have another one though
7. In which case, can I have the Trace Cab anyway? Cash on collection.
8. Have you recieved my PMs / Emails? Oh and since you've gone for Orange rig, does that mean you're no longer interested in trade? I'm still interested in the cab either way.
9.
played on monday, im in doyle & the fourfathers. were you in an orchestra or band?
I was with Rochdale Concert Band on the Tuesday Oh and my sounds hard but easy to play song is probably Sir Duke
10. Ahwell, at least it still shakes the windows
11. Yeah mine looks pretty much the same
12.
I would check inside to be sure, I bought a 1215 and the front panel wasn't lit, but I found that the cable to connect the front panel to the EL driver board was missing, I put in a bit of screened cable and hey presto it's all back lit now.
That requires pulling it apart though
13. Awesome I tried an SMX in PMT a few weeks ago and that lit up, so I was just curious if anything Thanks the for tip off!
14. Just collected my new acquisition today, a Trace GP7SM 250 head. It sounds and looks great, but it doesn't light up. Did all of the trace panels light up, or just some?
15. MichaelG, slightly off topic I admit but having spotted your signature, which night were you playing at the Albert Hall? I was playing there on Tuesday but was on half way through so had no idea what was going on before!
16.
They look heavier than the sun! Truckstop
I use one as my medium sized / rehersal amp. To be honest I find it pretty light. It's got a nice punchy sound, but as Warwickhunt has said, add energetic drummer and they quickly run out of go. However when I used it for recording, it left anything else for dead and everyone seemed to love it. It's the P150 combo with the EV speaker, and it's looking pretty tatty, but the nice thing is all it needs is rubbing back and a coat of varnish. Gunna get the amp serviced too. I've got a trace rig on it's way to me as the acoustic rig's a little elderly now and a back breaker, but no matter what happens I want to keep the Peterson For medium sized / jazz gigs, I can't really find any reason to not recommend one to anyone
17. I've always found Warwicks a bit hit and miss, my first fretless was a Corvette, and it's pretty much my main bass now. It looks fantastic in light, as there's something different about the Bubinga that makes it bounce light. I like it so much that as soon as I came across a fretted one for £500, I snapped it up instantly. I don't mind the top horn, although I had a nightmare finding a case that'll fit it. Got a pair of Hiscox and they fit perfectly though Thing is, a friend used to have a Streamer, and I hated it. I was happier playing his Peavey T40 and when he came to sell the Streamer, since not many people would be interested in a custom with Afzelia body and such, he made a massive loss on it. Then again, I played the Infinity that's instock at Manchester PMT, and if I had the money, I'd snap it up anyday of the week. I'd never sell the corvettes though, unless I was offered a 5 string fretless, and I'd still think very carefully about trading it, as the grain on mine's so unique!
