1. I bought a Tokai Jazz Sound in May as I needed something slappable, but I rushed it a bit. I liked the sound and feel in the shop, but I got it home, and had a couple of gigs with it and it just didn't cut through. It sounds nice, but it needs various things doing. Teacher's told me that get a Badass II / III on it, some good pickups and a good preamp and it'll probably play better than most off the shelf American Fenders, for half the cost.... A month later I went and got a fretted active Warwick Corvette. Barely touched the Jazz since!
2. That NYC was bloody gorgeous, I had a go as well, so did my teacher who I was with (doing all the fancy triple slapping and stuff) It sounds fantastic, looks beautiful and is extremely accessible. I reckon my overall favourite was the Shuker fretless I played, that was lush.
3.
I didn't see a single Warwick or Spector. Just an observation
I noticed that as well which was a bit of a suprise, but I still had a great time. Some guys took pics of me playing throughout the day too but i've no idea where I can see them. I was mainly playing ze Shukers and spent some time with that Piccolo Bass on one of the stands too.
4. Bump, check your inbox 'google, I messaged you a while ago
5. I managed to snap an E string just at the end of soundcheck. Didn't know it was possible but the gig was a 45 minute drive away from home. Fortunately we managed to delay what time we were on so I went home, grabbed the Wal and came back. Managed to do the run in an hour! The downside is that in my rush to get the bass in a case and stuff, i managed to knock the volume knob off
6. Yeah I'm a bit of a shortarse. I'm the shortest member of the band by a long shot, playing the biggest instrument It means I can be a bit closer to my amp and still hear things at a good balance, however, the two guitarists are constantly adjusting volumes and never getting anywhere with it. Both of them desperately need lessons in how to set up and use an amp!
7. I use a gutsy amp with a 4 x 10 which cuts it fine, so it lives on the floor (wouldn't like to try balancing the cab anyway!). Guitar amps go on chairs.
8.
Money by Pink Floyd is a must, But my fav lick/line to play has to be Sir Duke, ask anyone thats heard me try and bass, effect or amp before
Yeah I like playing Sir Duke too, and Superstition (although the main riff instead of the boggo bass line). Always impresses others In the band I've been given the lead line for Love Machine whenever we cover it....fretless The guitar riff for Sweet Home Alabama played on bass always goes down a storm too!
9. Money - Pink Floyd Sledgehammer - Peter Gabriel

Another bump, now down to £900. Includes allen keys, truss rod tool and half a pot of Warwick beeswax. Has all it's original tags too!
11. Can you get to manchester? There's apparently a hidden Warwick showroom on Bridge Street.
12. I reckon it's all been going down hill recently. I used to enjoy Jools, but now I see it as an hour of my Friday evening i'm not going to get back!
13. I don't like anything pointy, can't stand ESP or Ibanez and I've never really taken to P basses. With Ps, they work well, but every one I've played has always left me feeling a bit cold, and I've never really taken to the looks. It's hard to make a P sound bad, but a J will produce a wider variety of sounds, and I prefer the feel of them too. Favourite basses? Well I love our Wal to bits, and although I'm not the biggest fan of Warwicks, I love my pair of Corvettes, and I'd happily have a Thumb too. Don't like the pointy ones or the Streamers though.
14. Down to £190 plus postage, parcel force 48 service. Desperately need to get rid now!

17. Think I'll keep the head then, and get it serviced. For what we paid for it too (£50!) it would be a great investment though
18. I've spent the last couple of years running an Acoustic 470 head that we picked up on ebay. To be honest it sounds awesome and it's built like a tank, but I don't know much about them despite looking all over the internet. Basically what I'm asking is if anyone knows any history behind it, and if I was to sell it (which I'm considering given I want to upgrade my whole rig to a nice trace, eden or ebs or similar), how much should I ask for it in good condition with everything still working?
19. I'll talk to anyone Any of my mates will tell you that, they can't get rid of me! The next one I get quite a lot is my mate saying "been speaking to the other band's bassist, said you're pretty awesome" I just wish it didn't have to come through a mate! I like anyone who rates me playing Sound engineer is always interested in my rig too, and then bassists always want a look at the basses. I've never really had any bad experiences
20. It's been a pleasure to do business
21. Paul bought my Hohner B2a bass which arrived with him today and he's a pleasure to do business with. He's a friendly gentleman with good communications and sorted a bank transfer before I even had chance to get some packaging!
22. I don't to be honest as I don't like buying new, but I'll go and have a general browse to see if there's anything of interest. Then I end up looking at amps
23. Most of the time my main band reherse at our guitarist / singer's house. It's pretty handy as it's fairly central for us all, there's loads of space so we can keep everything there ( I just turn up with basses, drummer turns up with sticks etc) and it's a downstairs room too, so we never have to lug stuff up flights of stairs. Plus, the upshot is the neighbours really like us provided we're quiet by half 8 (kids have to go to bed) Win win Other projects I've rehersed in studios, churches, rehersal rooms and such too, so really it depends what and where I'm playing
