1.
We're playing everything tuned down to Eb.
We were doing that as well, and were still struggling. Confused my teacher a bit when i forgot to retune for a lesson
2. Problem I had is that the singer in my old band was dire, but he thought he was God's gift, and he also formed the band. Therefore, he refused to take criticism, and even media reviews were coming out with stuff such as "The drummer and bassist were in a completely different league as the vocals seriously need addressing" but he still wasn't having it. It's a shame because he was a nice enough guy, and had just stepped back and accepted we needed a frontman, he could have been a much better guitarist as well. But over time he got worse and worse, until I was too embarassed to play with them, so I left. I now know and work with miles better guitarists and singers now I'm available!
3. Ahh that's brilliant, thanks muchly!
4. Normally I carry 2 basses on the principal that i use both of them, as I play fretless and fretted. However, I could turn up with just the fretless and be able to play a whole set, but I'd still have my backup incase anything did go tits up. I did one gig without a backup, and I managed to snap a string. No spares, too far from home so the only option was to borrow a gash P copy and sulk. It was that bad, during the sound check I sent a text home begging for help and my dad came out with the Wal for me. Got the better end of the deal I reckon and I've always gigged with the Wal instead of my other fretted bass, until my Warwick turned up
5. Couple of questions, I'll presume judging by the price they're coming from america, so how much did you have to pay in import duties and stuff? Also, can you possibly stick some pics up of yours inside and out? Cheers, Dave
6. To be honest I hated the majority of the set, hence why I left
7. I've quit my band now, but I hated playing anything by Arctic Monkeys, Kings of Leon and I forced them to drop Holiday by Green Day. I hated Sweet Home Alabama too, until I started playing it fretless and put the guitar riff in as the other guitarist couldn't play it. I once did a full solo too
8. cheers for the link eude, they look quite sweet to be honest!
9.
What about a 2nd hand Levy's bag? http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=106765
Got to be full leather I'm afraid
10. Warwick have done some abs cases in the past with Warwick embossed, however they're dire if you ask me. My mate bought a Warwick over from the states, and when it arrived the case needed to have some serious straightening done to it. It feels cheaper than my £60 Stagg ABS case and also less solid, and in comparison to my Hiscoxs which my Corvettes live in, for the money they don't even come close to the lifelites!
11. Pictures? Price? Right section?
12. It depends, I use two lifelites and a good gig bag. Depends on where I'm going really, if it's a big gig where I'm carrying alsorts, I'll use the lifelites, if I'm going to a session or a lesson or something, I want something I can just drop in the backseat of my car, and an amp in the boot
13. Harvest is the one I'm pushing for as I've seen them in the...leather before, and they're lush!
14. Awesome, cheers for that £220 is a little out of my budget, so I reckon that's my christmas present request sorted I had a look around and my dad suggested Thomann.com, so had a look there and there's a couple of nice options, one of which is the Warwick Premium leather gig bags, should be £275 and they're selling for £140 at the moment!
15. Does anyone on here know of any good leather bass gig bags? Got a Warwick Premium line at the mo but it's at the end of it's life almost (zip went this morning and got 2 holes in the bottom). I want to go a little upmarket with whatever I replace it with, and preferably I want full genuine leather, but the only two I can come across are Bernie Goodfellows which I've no idea about, but look expensive, and then Levy's which ARE expensive. Obviously I don't want to skimp, but Levy's is out of my budget. Anyone any ideas?
16. My rig's on wheels - easy enough to slide infront of a mic and plug in!
17. When I gig, I expect to use my own gear so that's what I do...so why should someone else expect to use my gear as well. I was playing a battle of the bands a couple of months ago, and the organiser was pretty much demanding I loaned out my bass amp. I asked if they would be liable incase anything happened, and they weren't, and apparently if I didn't let other bands use my amp, it would mean they would have to cancel the night. So how can 4 bands get to a final of a battle of the bands, and only one of us had a bloody amp?! In all seriousness, how can the other bands practise and get so far with no gear? It turns out one of them had a nice brand new MarkBass Rig and he didn't want to gig with it, so I just told the promoter where they can stick it!
18.
I'm going to go against the flow... Play it in E and play the main riff on the bass inc' the horn section!
so do I now I've quit the band where the singer was so bad we had to tune down half a step to make things a lil easier on the ear
19. Yeah I'll keep you in mind, I've had another PM earlier on, but if the sale falls through or anything I'll give you a shout
20. goblin

SOLD

How come I didn't get these bumps when I was selling it? Good luck with the sale though! I've played this bass before by the way, and it's a fine bass!
21. Hey northstreet, basically delay can be found in most effects units, just use that, but as a slap back (can't remember the settings I use). As for doubling, it's just playing each note twice in quick succession. It's tricky, but sounds good when it works. I'm at the stage with it where I just don't use the delay line anymore. Can't be arsed carrying a Pod around for one song, and it makes it slightly easier to play. However, I'm not into emulating the exact sound. I'd joing a tribute band if I wanted to do that!
22. Normally for first fretless I wouldn't have got a Warwick, but it was £300 and my dad's also been playing bass for a long time, and he's long since regretted selling his Guild 302F, so basically, if I didn't get on with it, he'd have it...unfortauntely it didn't work out on his part of the deal And before anyone jumps on me for it been a Rockbass, it isn't. Proper German Corvette, we just got lucky I'm working towards getting myself a 5 string Wal fretless though. The wages are currently a neat mix of car, car insurance, running car and saving for Wal
23. When I play it I'm guilty for playing the main riff, BUT we don't have a keys player and the guit*rist couldn't get his head around it, so I just stuck it on a slight delay and did some doubling as well. It was always a hitter until I quit the band just over a week ago As for playing it in E, it doesn't sound right either, but I can't comment on feel as we all tuned half a step down to compensate for the singer's dire vocals...so does that count?
