My main bass is a PJ and I'm not really playing this one enough to justify keeping it. Great bass, featuring Vintage Tone Control, also benefitting from Sadowsky supplied drop-D tuner and black pickguard (currently fitted). All original stuff included - case etc. Original tort pickguard available. Cash sale £1350. Prefer local pickup or arrange something nearby (based in Herts). Only trade might consider is US Lakland JO4 passive More pics here: https://www.flickr.c...157664499032679 cheers, Jonathan

Nice bass. If someone is interested in this bass but is put off by the lack of VTC, I have an unused complete VTC retrofit kit like this http://sadowsky.com/wp-content/uploads/2015/06/IMG_7747_1.jpg from Sadowsky that I'd be happy to let go to someone for £49 incl UK postage. I bought a US Lakland Bob Glaub PJ from David. Great bass and a great guy to deal with. We had to tackle a couple of minor hassles, not of our making I hasten to add, and that's often the times you most appreciate someone who is straightforward and communicates promptly.

SOLD: Moollon P-Classic, Dakota Red Precision Bass
JCB replied to patpatel's topic in Basses For Sale
Saw Tim Lefebvre playing his Moollon P-classic with Tedeschi Trucks band back in November at indigo/O2. Was initially disappointed that Oteil Burbridge wasn't touring with them, but Tim was really good and the sound, not just from the bass but the whole band, was fantastic. The sound man did a great job that night. The band rocked GLWTS -
Do you know any dimensions of the bass neck, in particular the neck radius. Or if anyone else might have an idea?
It looks as if it might have originally been a 62RI though that looks like an after-market bridge. The neck radius is most likely 7.5" (scale 34", nut 1.5")

Lakland US Joe Osborn Custom 5-string for sale

An inspiration certainly to me in my teens. His bass lines with Bruford's rhythms were unique. Played them over and over. They were the reason I listened to Yes. He definitely inspired my passion for the bass, along with other early bass greats, even though I developed a completely different style to play myself. It would have been pointless, and near impossible, to emulate his style anyway. In most people's top 10 best bassists of all time surely. One of a kind. RIP

Found these two old posts which look like similar basses. Are these pics closer to the real colour? Butterscotch? Looks more like Off-White Blonde or even Vintage White in the photos...? :-/ Can you see the grain? I didn't think the CIJ basses came in Butterscotch, so if you can see the grain maybe OWB, otherwise I'd guess VWH? Having said that, I thought the OWB was only available on the '75RI, not the '62RI. Mind you, they don't usually come with matching headstocks either... Nice though, either way GLWTS

If you buy well and sell even better, you may even make a small profit on owning a bass or two You can of course earn money with your bass too So you could argue that they are an investment... At worst, a bass will rarely depreciate more than, say, a car. Also they are not perishable like so many other luxuries. When times are hard, you can just sell the bass and free up some cash and in the meantime enjoy owning and playing it.

Hipshot's clover keys are smaller than the original ones anyway. The difference between clovers and Y keys for a set of four 3/8" tuners is only 0.4 of an ounce in total (or 12 grams - about the weight of a small Christmas card). I honestly don't think it would have made a noticeable difference. Just swapping to Ultralites from the original Fender tuners saved my nearly 8ozs. It went from weighing 9lbs 5ozs to a tad over 8lbs 13ozs - now that did make a difference, but the main benefit was the improved balance as previously mentioned. It's a subjective issue obviously but, to my eyes at least, Y keys just wouldn't look right on a Fender bass
