1. Any chance you can take both away for a few weeks to see which you like, returning the one you don't? Arrange prices beforehand (check on here/ebay for current prices).
2. And to answer your other question: yes, they will soften up a bit through use.
3. The last 2 will give you the year. I'm also guessing that the number in front of the last 2 gives you the quarter. Example, my serial number ends -401; the sticker on the board inside reads 7/11/2001.
4.
you think fat fingers sound good? You should try playing with your cock!
I do...every nigh...oh. :S
5. My query isn't about cabs but it is something to do with being on the wiki: in the strings section, it lists Roto Jazz 77 flats as having a very high tension and doesn't mention the tension (!!) of the La Bella JJ (Original 54) flats. My recent experience (I went straight from the 77's to the JJ's) show the reverse to be true. The Rotos were fine, the JJ's are stupidly high tension. Am I missing something?
6. Somebody must have invented touch-sensitive LED's, ie, they light up when pressed. They'd be invaluable for tutors. IMO, LEDs on the side are a good idea. On the front, they're just another way of adding virtual inches to your manhood; buy a guitar whilst you're at it.
7. I don't have kids so make of this what you will: give it to your son. It might encourage him to practice more if he knows he has his "very own rig". Also, should something go wrong with one of them, you always have a spare.
8.
And one thing I genuinely hate - cannot get used to - the way the whole country goes to sleep on a Sunday absolutely does my head in. It reminds me of life in the Scottish highlands circa 1973
Can't comment on the Scottish Highlands reference but that's the bit I loved. In fact, where I worked*, every day was a Sunday. Even the streetlights went to sleep at midnight!! *Bidart, about 3 miles from Biarritz. The best of all worlds: sea to the west; mountains to the east; forest all around. Spain and its cheap shopping 20 minutes south. And you could go for miles without seeing another soul. Heaven.
9. interested in a straight trade: P for money. What's the string-spacing at the bridge, please?
10. Roof of Liverpool *mumbles* Cathedral. (Can never remember which is which-the big one, anyway)
11. Just out of curiosity, what do you not like about living in France?
12. Get yourself along to the Midlands Bass Day. Should get to plug in to a variety of amps/cabs there. Date and location hasn't been decided yet but should be soon and, erm, in the Midlands.
13. Fortunately, I don't like the sound of MM's anyway so I won't be buying one. Sterling Ball's last comment was akin to that of a naughty 13 year old before putting the phone down on whoever, not the whatever he is (MD?) of a company. Also, if he's so high up, what the hell is he doing making so many posts on an internet forum? To be quite honest, tho, the posting of the original thread was a curious one. You have a problem, you get on the phone to the people who can do something about it. The subsequent responses blew it all out of proportion. This thread is getting as bad as the linked threads.
14. For me, the problem isn't BP's (Big Penis?) attitude, although as a PR exercise, it'd be in the "What not to do" category, but the fact that he still hasn't (to my knowledge), substantiated his claims about the advertised benefits of the technique. Someone gave him the perfect opportunity to do so; not only did he refuse outright but others there accused the poster of accusing BP of lying. Deluded sheep, thaloddathum.
15. Not sure this is the kinda thing you had in kind... I am playing bass, tho.
16. Exactly what were you searching for to find him/her?
17. Speaking from a purely musical point-of-view (rather than technical, coz I'm in no position to comment), I'm going to echo some of the above comments: Flea aside, what a load of self-celebratory codswallop. It aint music; it's just sound.
18. It's probably been posted before but... http://www.brianeastwoodguitars.co.uk/coll.html I love it!!
19. A drummer for lazy bassists. ...I like.
20. Hi, JT. Thanks for your comment. When I posted, I was thinking more along the lines of a bass, rather than a full stack or whatever. I wouldn't expect someone to deliver my Trace 8x10 for 50p and a sherbet fountain but I'd be more than happy to pay £20-30 for someone to bring a bass over to me, especially if it's valuable. It was just a thought, anyway. I have been told, on more than one occasion, that I live in a dream world!!!
21. Hi, guys. I've put this here as the courier sticky is above: it's related but move if necessary. Given the frequency that people buy and sell things on here, would it be possible/practical to have our own 'courier' system? I imagine there are a number of people that make a regular trip from one part of the country to another and perhaps we could use this to our advantage. Not that I have anything against couriers personally but I'd much rather have someone who knows how to treat gear transport it, even if it means waiting a few days longer. Obviously, this kind of system relies on a great deal of trust but no more than using a courier or, for eg., ebay and, chances are, you've met or know someone who knows the person. Also, I think it goes without saying that the 'transporter' gets something towards fuel and/or the extra time involved but that's a separate issue. Do we have enough people making the kind of trips required for this to work? Even a one-off trip may help someone out; we could have a thread in which people post these trips. Comments/suggestions/flames/pointing-out of flaws/etc? Apologies if this has been discussed before.
