GV has always been OK, IMHO. Usually some interesting vintage pieces upstairs, but not much of a bass focus as I remember. Haven't been for a while, mind. Lots of menopausal media/banking/insurance blokes up that Farnham way, many of whom aspire to start blues bands with other menopausal media/banking/insurance blokes. Sometimes there are 'Project Managers'. Someone has to sell them AAAA+ top PRS's with birds and hand wired snakeskin edition Boogie combos for the twice yearly rendition of Red House at the tennis club. Oh, and you'll need a Bose PA sir..

Remember you won't often get a gig because you can play fast, you'll get more gigs if you can listen fast. And no shagging the band. Never ends well. And all the hat stuff.

Just bought a J-Retro on here from Marcus (top chap, btw). I wasn't quite sure how to marry it to my active EMGs, and how to go about powering the pre and my pickups from a single battery. I'm not particularly tech-y and have an ability to destroy electrical stuff by a combination of misplaced optimism and a gung-ho attitude. So I dispatched an email enquiry via the website just before a Sunday lunchtime pint hoping for a reply within a few days. John replied personally within the hour with a clear diagram, and over a Sunday lunchtime to boot. I'm much impressed at the increasingly rare example of a great product backed up by superb service.

This is the only multi fx I haven't junked in a petulant frenzy after about a month. Ignore the presets, most manufacturers seem to over do these. I was put off by the early Zoom stuff, which I found noisy and too complicated, but thinking of it as a row of 3 stomp boxes at a time makes more sense to me. I like to wind the controls about until they sound good, rather than worrying if 68% rate sounds better than 70% on a digital readout when tinkering with, say, a flanger or chorus. So it really suits my simple outlook. Also easy to adjust on the fly. I have it in line for most gigs, and it doesn't sound as if its eating my tone at all. I initially used it on a true bypass loop, as a 'get out of trouble' button, but found I didn't really need it once I felt confident with the B3. The looper is fun to play with, but I mainly use it for octavers, filter effects and some of the amp models; mainly SVT and B15 but the others sounds pretty good too IMHO. I also have a cheeky bank of reverse and filtered delays for a bit of the old Psychedelia Smith. Solid build, no issues so far. Worth a punt, if you don't like it you'll be able to move it along on here at not too much of a loss.

A 'Big F, small Sq' Jazz is my main squeeze at the moment. Picked it up for £50 about a year ago from a mate who spotted it in a garage sale. Dead lucky. Very comfy, sounds fantastic. Best Jazz of the half dozen I've had over the years, including my Marcus. I've modded it a bit, but have all the bits I've taken off. Considering a Babicz or Badass next.
