  1. I LOVE Dee!! He was one of a group of seventies/early eighties bassists (Peter Cetera, Tiran Porter, Rutger Gunnarsson, John Deacon, Joe Puerta, etc) who took groove, melody and counterpoint within pop/rock music to a new creative level... 3. I'm happy to play rock, blues, pop, funk, soul, ballads etc, all of which I enjoy listening to. Years of playing in function bands & tribute bands have enabled me to cover most bas(s)es. I wouldn't know where to start with jazz, though I do occasionally play wrong notes and noone notices
  4. Come over to the SE Bass Bash and you can hear them side by side

  6. Got this recently from a friend as part of a trade but it's surplus to requirements so passing it on. 9.5 condition and never used outside of his home studio from new so pretty much mint! It's even still got the sticky cover on the logo (peeling off at the edge). Sounds awesome, plenty of volume and a solid, full and punchy response. 500W at 8ohms. Specs from Ashdown: ABM cabs are designed to compliment the wide tonal range and power of the range of ABM heads, delivering no compromises on tone or performance. Rated at 500W RMS, the 8 ohm ABM-115 is loaded with a single high powered Ashdown BlueLine 15” driver. Constructed from high-grade birch ply and protected by a tough, buffalo leather cloth covering, metal corners and steel grilles, ABM Cabinets use high quality handles in favour of inferior flip handles, which can become loose and rattle after years of use. Vibration from the cabinet is reduced by the use of heavy-duty rubber feet. Ashdown BlueLine™ speakers are specially developed to achieve a superb balance of power, transparency and deep, controlled low end, without sacrificing any of the mid-band attack and high-end brightness that are so important in a modern bass sound. Speaker Configuration 1 x 15 Frequency Response 37Hz - 2kHz Impedance 8 Ohm SPL 98dB 1W @ 1m Weight (kg) 33 H x W x D (mm) 661 x 610 x 420 I'm just asking a bargain price of £120 £100! with collection from Camberley/Sandhurst area. I could deliver within 30 miles for petrol cost. Payment by cash, Paypal (you pay fees) or direct bank transfer. Please see my extensive positive feedback for assurance of a clean, honest transaction.
  7. Would it be strong enough material to make a couple of rack ears?
  8. Hopefully seeing them at Reading Hexagon. My mate Bobby is The Christians bassist so a double reason to see them.
  9. My good friends in the Duran/Spandau tribute 'From Gold To Rio' tonight in Eastleigh 🎶🎸😎

  11. I've been there many times.... I now own many basses.... I couldn't possibly comment
  12. @casapete you were in Epsom last night?!? Damn, I missed it.... literally the only show in driving distance for me
  13. Never wanted to stop, but definitely been through some down periods..... usually when I've dealt with idiots in bands and I start to wonder "why do I bother?" I actually played MORE during Covid..... I used the time to play for MYSELF and learnt many songs that I'd always wanted to know how to play. It was fun because I was feeling a sense of personal achievement and not just learning songs for a band because I HAD to. I even started a low key bass covers channel to record the entire experience, just for the hell of it... https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC4fUL3cm3mec9PPuWwjxuzA Life, family, work etc all get in the way but I actually find solace in my instrument. If I'm feeling down I often find that picking up my bass, sitting in my room and playing along to a favourite song makes me feel better! If nothing else it's an escape for a few minutes... I'm only playing in a (fantastic) theatre rock show at the moment that does just one big tour a year, so the rest of the time I'm twiddling my thumbs, apart from an occasional function band gig. As a result I'm looking for a local covers band to fill the gaps. It's tricky though.... I don't want to play boring pub blues....but so many of the better, more energetic, pub covers bands don't want a 50+ year old in their band....
  14. Dingwall D-Roc and NG basses. Loved the look and the feel was good. Sounded meh.... then I noticed that everyone paired them with Darkglass pedals to get them to sound half decent.... but then they all ended up sounding the same... Sold them and got more Spectors instead
  15. Yes. You are correct! Mickey Thomas (Starship) was also approached by Chicago.
  16. It's the BB3000S. Not active just a little different... BB3000 Nut width: 43mm Usually 2 knobs (V/T) and a selector switch, some have 3 knobs Made in Japan BB3000S nut width: 40mm 3 knobs (V/V/T) Made in Japan or Taiwan
  17. To be fair, the backing tapes sounded awesome. Vince's voice, not so much...
  18. No vid attached.... but Richard Page played a BB3000 I believe.
  19. Indeed, I meant the warblings/singing of every note around the one she was going for.... that came later in her career.
  20. Great singer, no doubt.... but the over-emoting she passed on to Mariah Scary and the rest puts me off... Now, where's my 'Carpenters - Greatest Hits' gone?
  21. Find his feedback topic (in the feedback forum) and leave him positive vibes there...
  22. Saw that EB-2alike on social media last week. I really like the look of that, especially if it's at a nice cheap price point!
