  1. 5 pages already talking about a guy who's just released a new album, looks like his work here is done. From the TV advert it sounds poop to me and they've even crammed in "featuring Pete 'I was researching for my book' Townshend on guitar" into it, considering the other two members of the who are dead that'll be a who album then! Lol.
  2. Have you got an amp stand that tilts back? It will make a difference on stage imo, if your band can keep the stage volume down to match your combo you'll have a great sound out front from the pa without everyone ruining the mix.
  3. Do I win anything for most up to date band and wall picture? How about one for tonight?!
  4. Found it https://www.backuptech.uk/
  5. The only bit of potentially useful info I can give is that when bluesparky sadly missed of this parish was very ill and out of work a charity for musicians helped him greatly, some of us donated to this charity and they checked out as a good legit bunch, they are there to help people who have done their bit as pro players, they may even be able to assist with the medical treatment, they will be named in this thread somewhere. Best wishes.
  6. My wife is called Caroline, lots of songs to choose from including variations of the regional spelling.
  7. As far as I can see the vendor gave every chance for the purchaser to do their own investigation before and during the exchange, he's a couple of sets of strings down and a couple of hours time out of pocket.
  8. I think you've done well both on price but more importantly on getting a bass you like, that's worth a few hundred quid any day! Enjoy.
  9. £1800 is to steep no doubt about it, that's pre EB without a refin money.
  10. If he bought it knowing it's a Bitsa and collected in person I'd say he's stuck with it unless the guy has stated in writing that the pickups were something else.
  11. That's less than £900 for a transition era stingray so I disagree. If it were mine I'd keep it as an ornament for anything less than about £1100.
  12. It's nice and carries a premium over a later one but less value than a pre EB, is say around £1300-1400 would be about right.
  13. That sounds like one of the better ones!
  14. We need The Rev, he is based in Bristol and knows his stuff. I'd be surprised if you could break even on it with a professional restoration even if it were free but I'm no expert.
  15. I bought a genuine Fender strat that had never been played but had been messed with as it was given to the lad I bought it off brand new for his 5th birthday! The neck was all over the show, intonation out, saddles at weird heights, strings were filthy and about an inch of the fingerboard, I took it to practice and our guitarist loved it, couldn't put it down. Got it set up and restrung to perfection (by EBS_freak), really nice example that sounded lovely, took it to practice again and our guitarist hated it!
  16. It was a lovely bass at the bash so it must be epic now, great price too!
  17. The gig shouldn't have been rescheduled without talking to the bass player first, even with a dep.
  18. They didn't cancel the gig the venue did.
  19. Lemon oil gives a nice clear tone, wax has less heft
  20. There's doing it for free for a good cause or a good promoter then there's doing it for free for a womble promoter for free when all the other bands are being paid. The promoter might ask the band to all write "mug" on their heads before they go on at whatever time he decides on the day.
  21. My rule of not doing any free gigs for anyone has removed all useless promoter type people from my life for about four years now, tricky situation and I'm not sure what I'd do but it wouldn't have happened to me, the other band members in both bands feel the same and don't even ask me anymore when the free gig offers come rolling in.
