  1. Yes but I do have the FRFR as my FOH mix that the audience hear because my monitor amp is turned down as low as possible, I only ever use the bigger cab for larger gigs where the 735s are at their limit, those would be gigs where with your vocal pa and amp setup would have involved hiring in more kit.
  2. That's the point I am trying to make to Al, if my kit got stolen I'd get an extra 735 and use that as my amp, cheaper than a comparable bass rig (not what you personally require, comparable on technical specs), I can't see a reason why anyone would buy a big rig these days.
  3. It's nothing to do with that, they get excessively more elaborate as the weeks pass, becomes comical almost, when I in Spain I don't expect them to put on an English accent when they use my name.
  4. Any system is only as strong as it's weakest link and there's some understandable confusion regarding the FRFR being used just for bass monitoring on stage, as backline without pa support and backline with pa support and all the variables of the pa system. Strangely neither me nor EBS_freak use the setup we're harping on about as such, I use either a small combo or a bigger bass amp and he uses in ears mostly. We both use RCF as foh though and we both own our Pa systems rather than band shared so the option to use the pa as backline or monitor for other gigs where we either dep or have full professional pa support would allow us to use the RCF kit. With your current kit essentially you would be governed to a venue where the drums and bass can cut through and the stage area volume has to be loud enough for people at the back to hear.
  5. My bug bear with presenters is the one up manship of foreign names, it started with Charlie Hebdo and I started a thread about it at the time I think? As the weeks pass we go from Charlie Hebdo to Jarrrleee Erbdoughh, the same thing has happened with the Julia Scripal thing, Hoooliaa Skreapaal.
  6. How you getting on with it mate?
  7. "Hoshino Gakki began importing Salvador Ibáñez guitars from Spain"
  8. I'd have it but it's a German pattern!
  9. She looked thrilled, lol
  10. We had a Canadian at the double bass bash in Bicester last week!
  11. Pedant alert, although I'd never say it in a guitar shop it would be pronounced Eebaneth in Spanish.
  12. All joking apart if one should wish then an FRFR setup would work just fine to amplify a lute.
  13. Do you eat the beans first, does that give you extra heft?
  14. Even at small venues I go through the pa these days, if the venue is big enough for a sound engineer you should be aiming to keep your amp volume lower than the pa. The bigger the venue the quieter the stage
  15. I'd happily put my bass straight into the desk with a decent monitor wedge pointing back at me.
  16. Where do you draw the line, if someone doesn't gig then a decent practice amp is fine for them. Comparing apples with pears
  17. This is a bass forum, I'd imagine a pa sales site would yield better results plus that's a totally different issue and the fact no one has sold them on tells you something doesn't it?
  18. What amp and cab is that? Comparable in range and volume.
  19. As I said I still light weight cab and class D head but the amp and cab new are nearly £2000, the RCF cab is actually easier to move than the bass cab too.
  20. How much cost and combined weight is a comparable amp and cabinet?
  21. As I said before I wouldn't suggest anyone changes a perfectly good rig for one, I haven't either, I've got a Genz 212T for bigger backline gigs but I'd advise against a rig to anyone upgrading from a practice amp or requiring their first gig ready amp. The dinosaurs will keep buying a bass rig as big as they can because it's ingrained.
  22. Yeah but at least I'd have the desk to sort it out, lol
  23. If you mic a Barefaced bass rig and put that through the RCF it would faithfully recreate that, and many variations on that plus vocals, guitar, keys etc etc etc. It costs less too.
  24. An RCF cab costs less than a comparable bass rig yet can handle just as much bottom end but with a more nuanced sound if you want it, I can't see how that's not better? Would I change my existing rig, no, would I buy an extra RCF735 instead of a bass rig if mine broke or was stolen, 100% yes.
