It happened to me; royal mail insist on a hard case for all instruments . If you don't do that they won't pay in event of damage
Yep, it's going in a hard case, but I'm packing that inside delivery-quality packaging as well.
2.
Or contact a local music shop, see if they have a suitable box about to go in their skip. I`ve sourced a few boxes this way.
Really good idea - thanks.
3.
Did you mean that? If so, not much packaging needed, surely? Just wedge plenty of foam or newspaper around the amp to keep it rigidly in place, tape the handles (as per chris_ , and stick a label on it. Oooh - look what happens when you type the chris_b user name inside brackets.
Yes, I meant it. When I say "flight case" I mean "case sturdy enough to protect the item when used by someone who knows what they're doing and has a vested interest in whatever's inside" It's not something I'd want to write an address on, stick on a stamp and cross my fingers.
4. Thanks - where would you get the strong box? Also, I've considered insurance - but seeing as money will have changed hands by this point, isn't it the buyers concern?
5. Hi, I'm looking for any recommendations or cautionary tales you have for shipping heavy and large items to the continent. I have a buyer lined up to buy a bulky item from me, weight 25kg and measuring 700 x 600 x 250 mm in its flight case. The buyer has chosen the delivery service, so I want to package the item as securely as possible so to avoid in-transit damage. For an item this big, do you have any tips for places to buy packaging? Thanks!
6.
The Bass Cellar seems to have gone, but Wunjo is still worth a look.
The Bass Cellar is now in the basement of Rockers, over the road. Rumour has it that one of the two Wunjo shops now on Denmark St will become a bass-only shop. It's possible even that the newer Wunjo shop is where the Bass Cellar used to be, which would be funny.
7. You can get the fan pack in WHSmith btw. Saw a stash in my local one this morning.
8. Rock Family Trees. Get the books, you'll learn everything there is to know and time will disappear. All three (a new one was released last year) are on Amazon. The first one is brilliant.
9. I bought Ovi's Aguilar Tone Hammer pedal. Really nice guy to deal with, and he was really helpful with carrying out an international bank transfer. Really quick delivery as well. Recommended!

11. I bought my second ever bass (an Aria Pro II Mab-40) and a still going strong Trace Elliot combo from Andertons in the early 90s, and always enjoyed good service. Anyone remember it from its previous location on Haydon Place?
12. Bump for Bob's birthday! See Google's home page for today's tribute to Robert Moog - whoever can closest replicate the settings for the classic Taurus sound gets a further £50 discount off any agreed price before midnight London time today, May 23. (hint: start with the top left control on the first "O" of "Google" - the Oscillator section)
13. The Moog T1 is still available - and a bonus item has been added to the package! See http://moogtaurus.wordpress.com for the update.
14. Ticketmaster had a couple of O2 Arena tickets, 5th row Block 101 (raked section) a couple of hours ago. Gone now of course. Ticketweb are selling the £200 "Tour Package" ticket, there's a Row C Block A3 ticket in there. Ticket sales, all a bit of a mystery really. Thing is, like album sales, remasters, etc etc there's no one making you buy. My tip would be to wait a while and keep your eye on things like TicketMasters Facebook and Twitter feeds. Previously I've got extremely good tickets within days of the event when something like "production seats just released" (or similar) notifications are made.
15. It's exactly the same cost as it was last time at the same venue, with two years in between ticket sales, and it seems to be on a similar par to a similar size acts. In a perfect world it'd be a standing gig where you can get more people on the arena floor, keep costs down, and get as far to the front as you're prepared to get there early and queue.
16. There was a fan club sale at 9am, ditto O2 Priority.
17.
Which is what I was getting at (although I would guess that the average age of a Rush member is higher than the average age of a Basschatter). The idea of committing over a year in advance to something as ephemeral as a gig date is a completely alien concept to me.
See your point, but for me it's a case of buy ticket, stick date in diary, forget. Look at diary some time later, hurray I'm seeing Rush this week.
18.
How do we know they'll still be alive?
I think that goes for all of us to be honest.
19. "priced at £60/£75 (subject to booking fee)" according to the Roadrunner announcement, which looks about the same as last time.
20. Clockwork Angels tour gets to Europe next Spring... Wed May 22nd Manchester Arena Fri May 24th London, O2 Arena Sun May 26th Birmingham, LG Arena Tues May 28th Sheffield, Motorpoint Arena Thurs May 30th Glasgow, SECC Tickets on sale properly on Friday with assorted pre-sales beforehand. That's a full year and a few days before the gigs.
21. To the ears of the teenage yet-to-be bassist me, the bass here sang louder than Aretha. Which is saying something. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qE41YPdPuis
22. Daddy of my "without whom" team. Thanks for the good times Duck.
23.
Feel free to make me an offer about the price, though. I'm gonna sell the PB.
Ok! Have sent PM.
