I've been listening to Apollo in bed this past few months (falling asleep to it). Gonna give that album a turn.
Eno's largely mistaken for an ambient-only artist. His back catalog is full of great albums. Check out Before And After Science, Another Green World, Nerve Net, Another Day On Earth, Here Come The Warm Jets...
That's great news. What strings have you got on the TB10? I've been using Rotosound Trubass black nylons for ages but I just now put on some La Bella Deep Talkin' flats 760FS. I am very pleased with the effect.
I'm pretty sure they're what it ships with, according to the website (http://www.takamine.com/support/#faq13) they're D’Addario XL Chrome Flat bass strings, gauges .050, .070, .085 and .105. I'll keep your suggestions in mind for when the time comes. Got any footage or recordings btw?
Yes I watched a youtube vid of that performance - good innit. Someone told me Franks's retired from 'rock' music?
From Frank's facebook page: "After only four weeks of staying at home and looking after my five month old baby boy, I'm so knackered I have to go back to work to have a rest. Please check out the events page to see my ever growing concert list and please come check out the shows. I look forward to seeing you all again.... actually, I cant feckin wait to see you all again but please don't bring your kids otherwise I might start crying" I'm not sure if that means he'll be doing rock gigs or band gigs or sticking to solo/non-rock stuff. But he's out there.
Sounds like you need to drop Mr Giblin a line (possibly via Wunjo?), and get a sined letter from him to prove that your new Tak was in fact the one he used on the Kate Bush gigs. You never know when it might come in handy.
You'll never guess who I got a phone call from today... So Wunjo got in touch with JG and asked if there was anything he could do. He's written a letter of provenance, stating when he bought it where it was used - signed and delivered to Wunjo on fancy paper. I picked it up at lunchtime, and will be keeping it somewhere very safe indeed.

Find some songs you like with the same time sig and play along. Eg Pink Floyd, Money; Jethro Tull's Living In The Past etc etc

I only went for the one London date. But I did get Brighton and Edinburgh as well...

Nice one. The two Aylesbury Friars Club gigs went on sale today (ie no presales Wednesday and yesterday), for the opening nights of the tour. Really good seats available. Bugger to get to.

That's fantastic. (and I've still got it saved on my Sky box from when it was first broadcast) Back on track: if you've not heard the live recording from last years King Crimson tour, "Live At The Orpheum" then give it a go. I'm about half way through, and it's amazing - man of the match goes to Mel Collins.
It's the one with Larks 2. More importantly it's the one with Tony Levin - one hand fretting his Stingray and the other playing a keyboard bass line. And the one with him playing two independent parts on his stick. Awesome!
It's got both Larks! http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Neal_and_Jack_and_Me_%28DVD%29 - I must dig it out. If you're a Levin fan, check out the "Deja Vrooom" DVD as well, it's from the mid-90s "double trio" line-up.

Incidentally, I once saw Bruford's Earthworks at the Pizza Express Jazz Club. I said hi afterwards, and mentioned I'd been listening to (live recording) Absent Lovers on my way to the venue. "Ah yes" he said, "Montreal. The band split up the day after, if I remember correctly". Oops.
I got the Bruford book a couple of years ago - now that is a yawnfest! Back on topic, those tickets are expensive. Get yourself the Neal and Jack and Me dvd - a superb couple of '83 shows with the Fripp/Belew/Bruford/Levin line-up.
Agree about the book - a very dry read, and not in the good way. I don't think I've seen a bad Crim DVD. Is the one you mention the one with Larks' Tongues 3? That's hot.
Haven't bothered much with kc, as they were a bit before my time. Will have to get round to it. Does tony levin still do solo gigs?
Has he ever? He's pretty much always in Peter Gabriel's band, he does Stick Men gigs with Pat Mastelotto and Markus Reuter, and the Stick Men occasionally team up with the Adrian Belew Power Trio (includes Julie Slick and Tobias Ralph) to do joint gigs as The Crimson ProjeKCt. I once saw him doing a clinic for MusicMan at a barn somewhere near Stevenage about 7 or 8 years ago. He signed my Funk Fingers!
I think I spotted a stool as well. What is the matter with these people?
Using two pedals at once, I think.
Would like to see KC but not with this yawn-fest. Sorry.
Having seen the setlists of the USA tour and reviews, I'm thinking this will be anything but. What would be dull for me is trotting out Elephant Talk, Sleepless, Three of a Perfect Pair etc etc all over again.
I've got tickets! Courtesy of a friend with an O2 contract. Good seats too! Massively excited about this. Now I've got to spend the next seven months worrying about the legroom in the Hackney Empire...
Good job - I'll be at Hackney as well. Last time I was there was for a Wynton Marsalis gig a few years ago. It's pretty snug! He played something in 13/8 as well (hope that's not too much of a spoiler)

Very jealous, wish I could see them again for the first time.

Sure helps know what this thread is actually about. I liked the bit about the monkey. VJ's opinion is interesting in its generally contrary position. Regardless of his CV, it's nice to say "oh do tell more/what makes you say that" rather than "nonsense". -
Yesterday King Crimson announced a run of UK and Europe gigs - see dates and places here: http://prog.teamrock.com/news/2015-02-03/king-crimson-announce-uk-and-european-tour-dates It's the 7-man line-up, 2x guitar, sax/flute, bass (Tony Levin), and three drummers. Tickets went on sale this morning for O2 Priority customers, tomorrow for Live Nation punters, the rest of the world on Friday. Here's some 3-drummer action to soothe your nerves as you join the ticketing queue and see the face value. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N1JapuD0ikk

And yet another rant about ticket agencies...
toneknob replied to RAY AGAINST THE MACHINE's topic in General Discussion
It's Friday, May 2 at Brixton Academy: http://www.o2academybrixton.co.uk/event/63165/korn-tickets tickets on sale on Friday, or Wednesday if you're registered on O2 Priority (http://www.o2priority.co.uk/Events/Korn/680). This, and other presales, is where a lot of tickets go if you're seeing "sold out" or limited seat availability at the public on-sale time. -
Yes, B10 had the AD-1 preamp. TB10 has the CTP-2 Cool Tube preamp. However, my B10 now has the much easier to use CTB4 preamp.
Right - what's the difference in spec between the CTP-2 and -4? Is it one of these two? http://www.takamine.com/electronics/pre-amps/#ct4-dx http://www.takamine.com/electronics/pre-amps/#ct4Bbii

anybody know anything about this song or band?
