1.
Hey Bud, Just searched for that list and can't find it ??
Try this Best Bass Lines Evaaaaar! (http) Or spotify:user:onlinedood:playlist:6UkfcLnRafb95u7EnciaAU (Spotify URI)
2. I bought mine in 2000 for about £500, sold them on a couple of years ago for £2k, but some of that profit was eaten up in servicing (I had the microswitch job done) and a custom flight case and osteopath charges. I've got the T3 now, but if I was to start again I'd go Minitaur + midi pedals as well. What's the benefit of McMillen over a PK-5?
3.
What's the connect function ?
If you've got two or more devices on the same wifi network, you can control music playback on one with the other. But you can't disable it, so when you get home and your phone connects itself to your wifi, it will automatically decide you want to listen to whatever was most recently playing on your PC. And download it, and play it. It will even interrupt a non-Spotify music app to make itself heard. I've recently had a month-long to and fro with customer support, the upshot of which was "it's supposed to do that"
4.
so if they're stored offline is it like having them on your hard drive and do you lose them if you stop paying?
"Offline" use means you can disconnect from your network and still play the songs - essentially they're downloaded to the device so you can play them where you want.
5. Yes, I'm a long-time premium user, but getting annoyed with the "Connect" function to the extent that I'm considering jumping ships. It's only Spotify's more extensive catalog that's keeping me onside at the moment.
6. No and no. It felt a bit odd at first mind you. And congratulations!
7. Find all the Silica Gel sachets you have, put them in that room. Do Not Eat. Hope you fix it and the guitars survive intact! I had a similar problem when my landlord installed double glazing, suddenly there was nowhere for moisture in the air to escape. Keep air circulating with an open window if possible.
8. It's repeated on BBC4 on Monday, 12am (ie Sunday night)
9. It sure does involve a lot of plate spinning. This is why I am in as few bands as possible, with the smallest number of band-members, with as low expectations as possible. And by that measure I'm doing really well
10.
Out of interest, sorry if I derail but what's the thoughts on a group or a page?
Page. Can't remember why right now, but trust me on this
11. For me it's The Camera Eye, originally on Moving Pictures, here from the Time Machine tour... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Nc1YPRbkWQA I love the guitar tone on the solo, Geddy's vocals obviously struggling though. From slightly earlier times, Jacob's Ladder is a favourite: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LHSaK78d9b8
12. Thanks for all the likes so far! To those who might like to be discerning, maybe facebookers could add rough location and musical style to their post/link.
13. Great idea! I'm now the Angry Badger's newest fan. Like me up! Velcro Pelmet - jazz-rock for the south London masses. https://www.facebook.com/VelcroPelmet
14.

I like the well-balanced, top-heavy yet bouncy feel around the 49 minute mark
15. The tab looks fine to me, although there are a few variations throughout as you mention. What sounds wrong when you play it?
16. The 12 bar Club has recently announced its closure in January 2015. From their Facebook page at https://www.facebook.com/12BarClub "We are very sad to announce that The 12 Bar Club has been given notice to vacate Denmark Street by the middle of January. The 12 Bar Club will live on We will announce details of our new location shortly"
17. Where were you? I was out in Vauxhall last night, and work nearby. I'll keep my eyes peeled.
18.
I've always thought that Vernon Reid's best work was outside of Living Colour. His playing when he was with Ronald Shannon Jackson's Decoding Society was amazing and the Smash and Scatteration LP with Bill Frisell is a gem. His banjo playing is a bit special too.
I like his "Mistaken identity" album from the mid-90s, the track Uptown Drifter is a favourite http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=T-q2xFymQgg
19. Dave played on Pigs (Three Different Ones) and Sheep from Animals. DSotM was all Roger.
20. I've just tried a playalong with the video posted earlier - My usual three-finger technique** gets tired quickly, so I found index on the E string, middle on the A string 7th fret and mute E with the thumb works pretty well. Vix-style scrunchies, hipshot or a 5-string not needed. ** index and middle finger alternating on the same string, ring finger mutes string above, thumb mutes string below. When ascending strings, ring fingers makes first pluck; when descending, rake with whichever finger just plucked
21. Time's Up is a fantastic album, everything post-Muzz never quite got it together. I saw them at the Garage in Highbury about 10 years ago - the Collidascope tour? Pretty good. Jeff Beck was in the audience.
22.
good man toneknob. I understand the views that Metallica will 'own' a huge piece of Jaco rightly or wrongly, but Metallica are not business mogul monsters anymore. That time has passed , these days they are good guys and family men, I'm sure Rob (who has been a huge Jaco fan for years) will give this project the respect it deserves and with any luck it won't just be bass players that like it, the masses will catch on as well. I am very interested even though I'm not a big Jaco fan and will definately buy the DVD
I don't know about the business intent of Metallica, but RT's enthusiasm and long-term respect and admiration for JP is obvious from the youtube clips I've seen relating to the project. Teamed with the producers behind Sugarman, I've got high hopes.
23. +1 for mids. Here's some bloke cutting through nicely with his overly-loud bandmates down the Albert Pub. Check out the upside-down smiley EQ.If it was me (sorry Jack) I'd skew it slightly towards the bass, with the peak around 300-400Hz, but that's personal preference (and I don't know the EQ bands on a Hartke either) ps. welcome to basschat!
24. The trailer lists/shows a few names: Johnny Pastorius, Flea, Bootsy Collins, Geddy Lee, Santana, Ian Hunter, Nathan Watts, Peter Erskine, Wayne Shorter, Sting, Herbie Hancock. I'm really looking forward to it - and have stumped up a wedge for the pledge.
