  1. It's bleak drizzly day in Essex, so I decided to go right to the back of 'the room' and say hello to a few friends I haven't seen in a while. I had forgotten what a lovely bass this early Empathy is. It was my #1 back in the day, before I got hooked on Stingrays, but still plays like a dream. It has an almost unbelievably low action with no buzz and can be relied upon to stay tuned. I feel lucky to have stumbled across it when I did.
  2. You may well be right. I’m new to the world of Spector basses having only just taken possession of my first, but the inclusion of the Darkglass pre combined with the price they are asking, could be the reason it’s still there. Nice looking bass tho.
  3. I thought it might be, just thought I would check. Thanks.
  4. Is the headstock colour and back of the neck black or brown?
  5. Bit harsh, but I do wonder what real difference there is between a team built P and a master built P to justify the price.
  6. Thanks for your thoughts Dan. I have an itch for a P and was looking at Moollon amongst others. I wonder if Jon would consider doing one with a slightly narrower nut? It doesn’t actually say in the spec on the site, but I would presume the JJ is mid 43-ish?
  7. I’ve been looking at the Shuker web site this morning and reading the spec on that JJ Carbonlite model. Have you had your hands on one? It’s an expensive way to buy a P bass, but given the weight and balance in its design, the price tag isn’t actually that bad.
  8. I'm sure we've been here before with a similar 'raffle'. Didn't end well as I recall.
  9. Tim is the custodian of the aforementioned website 'Scratch-It Scratchplates'. Jolly nice chap he is too.
  10. If ‘pickguard’ is the way forward, someone should probably let Tim know.... https://www.originalscratchplates.com
  11. You need to have a word Andy. Unless you keep lots of menus in your glove compartment, ‘drop down’ is not a suitable nomenclature. Pretty sure ‘scratch guard’ is a thing, just not what your mate is referring to. Choc? Yep, that’s just wrong 😂 EDIT: I think ‘Choccy’ is acceptable though?
  12. I hadn’t noticed that. Remarkable really given the time I spend trawling through the sales sections 😂. I have noticed a recurrence of the trend of removing details of an item once sold (again).
  13. Agreed. Troy is a helluva bass player and a massive Rush geek. This was the first song I learned from his channel. He has since re-done it....
  14. Nat. Broken foot. Query broken hand. Requires surgery on her hip. She’s OK. Hospital messed her about a bit with the x-rays. Car is a write off though. Happened a few weeks ago, so no immediate cause for concern. Just need to get her fixed 😀
  15. Just trying to remember when my last gig actually was....
  16. Ah, sorry man. Didn’t realise you were abroad. Very pleased you’ve managed a gig tho mate. I know it was down on audience numbers, but I bet it felt great didn’t it - to be out there again?
  17. I’ve requested a postponement of our October gig as I don’t think standing gigs will be particularly popular even then. Adjourned until July 2021. Everything else for 2020 has been cancelled by the venue. I’m resigned to not gigging this year. One of the band has been involved in a serious road traffic collision and will require surgery in the last half of 2020. Date TBC. All a bit crappy really. I look forward to a few productive rehearsals where we can work on some obscure Bowie back catalogue. Magic Dance?
  18. I’m a bit confused as to how this occurred. I thought tomorrow was the kick off?
  19. Good. That’s seen the ‘Jonas’ the door then. I don’t know whether it’s a spurious camouflaged complaint from someone who has ended up at the sticky end of a Mod or one of those random people that seem to enjoy complaining about everything without provocation. He/she probably works for FedEx. Apparently the Washington Redskins have been ‘told’ to consider renaming the team. “Reconsider” as in ‘if you don’t, we will withdraw our sponsorship’. The European name of the first Native American to address Congress is coincidentally ‘Red Jacket’
