Genuine recognition of Ernie Ball's

I really don’t get this weight/quality thing. Ritter’s are very lightweight. Alembic’s aren’t. Both are quality in my book. -

I’m not sure Jens Ritter would agree with you. -
Let me get this right, you shipped a bass in a hard shell case that was wrapped in cling film?
-
Yes, but you know why 😉

2020 Gear Abstinence thread.....

Ha ha ha. Does that amount of luck even exist? 😂 -
Wow! 7.5lbs! I bet you would still have that if you had bought it. It’s bizarre that they can very so much from such a small batch. My one is 9.2lbs. Just crazy. Poor Bongo’s. Always the bridesmaid, never the bride 😂 I bet, if it was anywhere near as good as this one. Back to the drawing board then. The next option was either the 30th I bought from @martthebass or the Sledge. I’ve had the 30th out recently and I doubt I’ll find another as good if I sold mine. The Sledge likewise and it’s the only Ray that’s wearing flats at the moment, so that’s staying for now. I really don’t know how this ‘thinning the heard’ thing is supposed to work 😂.

The 'Show us your Limelight!' thread

Depends what you’re after. Mine was just into four figures. Small upcharge on mine to get a premium grain body as it was for a natural finish. -
I was photographing this to put it up for sale today (don’t get the wrong idea - I’m fully paid up already) and I just can’t bring myself to let it go. It’s just a really lovely example. Looks stunning (much better in person), plays beautifully and sounds just like it should. The neck is as smooth as silk and it’s weight is very reasonable. I’ve never gigged it and I’m not sure it’s even seen a rehearsal space actually. Back in storage you go 😎. EDIT: It’s a PDN Neptune Blue by the way. Purchased from @BassTractor a few years ago.

Basschat offers exclusive discount for EU shipping
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to ped's topic in Site News
I know the piece of mind is all in the ‘how they deal with it when it goes wrong’, but.... I booked with Eurosender again on Tuesday. The earliest pick-up date was Thursday. The bass was collected on Thursday afternoon and arrived with its new owner in Germany this morning. He’s a very happy man. @ped - the discount code is still working properly 👍 -
Tip top access to the dusty end too. Enjoy Andy (when you get the time to 👍).

Episode 6: Everyone Should Have a Dremel in Their Life Got busy with the Dremel this afternoon. What a wonderful piece of kit it is. I used the guide for the first and second passes and took the deep stuff out by hand as it doesn’t have to be that pretty at the bottom. I think the main issue with the cavity as it was when I received it was that the sides weren’t vertical. I seem to have taken a lot more from the bottom than from top. The control plate now sits in there nicely with quite a bit of wiggle room. I think I’ve done what I need to do with the body and I’m going to book it in for it’s refinIsh. -

Can I make a request, full Simmons costume to do a video with the same framing. Just put a little bit of a Clown White on the chin. No need for the full face. Would be great 🤘 -

Subscribed. Just watched ‘Naked City’ which I love. Great job. Even got the Simmons pinky brace on the G string - love it. Lots for me to watch here. Well done 👏👏👏👏 -

Slightly off topic, but why the fork do you have a mahoosive photo of a BMX in your signature? -
Yeah, I think you might struggle with that. To be fair, the majority of basses are 8lbs plus. I think I only have one that is a smidge under 8 and that's a Custom Shop. My Flea (active) is only 9.3lbs, so not far off.

Bruce Foxton - blimey!!
hiram.k.hackenbacker replied to Steve Browning's topic in General Discussion
Is that measured against his own solo output? 🤔 To be fair, he’s only holding it and looks a bit lost 😂 -
Oh yes. I've sort of got two. The neck went wibble on the one I bought and I replaced it with a graphite neck from Status. I'm currently building an early 60's jazz bass around the replacement Flea neck that Fender sent me. The original sounds great and the build version is shaping up very nicely too. They come up for sale reasonably often if you don't want to buy new.
