1. +11 and a lot.. I've had 2 x 15's, Warwick Terminator and currently am umming and ahing about my two EBS 410's (which are ludicrously practical compared to an 8x10).... Unless you have roadies you're going to get bored with lugging it around... But then I'm old and knackered - but how do you think I got this way? :-) And the 810 is for pussies, you really want one of these :-) http://www.tecamp.de/index.php?id=36 And it's lighter and appears 5 db more efficient.. That's equivalent to more than doubling the power of your amp..
Yup, I'd agree with Bob - I've had an Ampeg fridge, and while it looks very manly, it's the most impractical cab in the world (with the possible exception of the Peavey 18" I had once which was the size, shape and weight of a washing machine). Elderly wimp I am, I've only got one Schroeder 1515L, but it's plenty, plenty loud enough for my drummer, and let's be honest, it's only him you need to keep up with on the volume front. Everything else is about monitoring. On the other hand, if you're GASing for a fridge and it's a bargain, go for it and get it out of your system. I'm guessing about halfway down the first flight of stairs will be when it starts to lose its thrill. Unless, of course, you have roadies, in which case buy four...
2. An active tube wall? :-)
 3. Run a meter over the cabs last night... I know this is only a nominal number but the S12T was showing about 3.6 ohms and the EBS 4.1 ...
 4. You need something like this :-) http://www.seymourduncan.com/forum/showthread.php?t=199987
No, not arenas. But I would like to at least have the option of a large cab behind me if and when I need it, we do sometimes play gigs where the stage would be large enough to make a compact cab look slightly mickey mouse. I am leaning towards the Barefaced compact for the convenience...but it feels like this Ampeg offer is too good to turn down.
5. Basically the S12T is fine with every other head I have/have had (RH450, Bassbase 600, QSC PLX) and the F500 is fine with other 4 Ohm nominal cabs.. The F500 is a few months old, but new to me, but has been playing happily with an AE212 with it's previous owner. Of course the three amps I've tried with the S12T are happy down to near 2 Ohms anyway..
 6. pm'd...
 7. Thanks for posting.. I'm reasonably confident that the S12T is ok, simply because I use it all the time with my RH450. although I will get my meter out later and check that the impedence is not drifting somehow downwards....
I dont know much about these things but i dont think something is working right. Ive been using MB heads (currently a F1) for about 6 years, always in to a 4 ohm cab (Schroeders) and never had any issue, done well over 500 gigs with this set up. I have had my SA450 cut out on me a few times in one evening when i was using a rehearsal studios cab. Every time i hit a loud note or slapped (i know, i really shouldn't) the head would shut down. It turns out the cab was faulty and the head was just protecting itself. Ive never had any other issues with my heads in to 4ohms cabs. I know this doesn't help much, Ijust thought I would share my MB experiences with 4 ohms cabs.
8. Monday Bump... Probably hanging onto one of these now. though...
 9. Hi, Just picked up a lovely F500 but am having some interesting issues with regard to my BareFaced S12T... I suspect it's unstable into the load the S12 (nominally 4 ohms) offers, the initial master gain structure is much steeper compared to my RH450 (athough absolutely they're both about the same volume as I would expect), and if I turn the master up quickly (or induce feedback) the F500 cuts out.... When I plug the F500 into my 4 Ohm EBS 410 the self switching off stops although the gain structure is also pretty aggressive (ie it's really loud at 3, ear bashingly loud at 5, and into output stage distortion at 6..) My suspicion is that the F500 is on the knife edge of stability at around 4 ohms... Any thoughts folks?
 10. No Probs, it's a poorly rephrased version of a line I use in IT projects... "Fast. Cheap. Good. Choose any two" :-) I've got a Super 12 T as well :-)
Just got this! Sorry Mark, didn't have my Hoffman Lenses in the other day
11. I have one in my dinger ABZ.. Easy fit, keeps the passive option (although I rarely use it these days) and offers a much wider tonal range .. Great value, and John East is a gentleman... Nuff said..
 12. Took a punt on this for £25 delivered off Amazon.. Metal cased, true bypass, chromatic tuner.. As fast and as accurate as the one in my RH450, and slightly easier to read... I'm using a five string in standard B ------> G tuning... Has 9V in (and out!) four display modes and 9 tuning adjustments (440, 441 etc) Well recommended so far.. My bargain of the month.. http://www.amazon.co...22305176&sr=8-6 Cheers Mark
 13. Light/Compact, Cheap, Good... Choose any two... :-)
 14. I've replaced two EBS Proline 410's with one Super 12 T.. The S12 has marginally less presence and punch than the two 410's, and I mean a microscopically small amount.. I'm running a 236 watt RH450 into it :-) And it's damn loud...I've never had it above halfway on the master gigging, and it goes a lot louder... The combination of a midget and compact should be slightly better in this respect...
 15. It will look just the part when you go and play on Tracey Island
 16. Agreed.. A midget would go nicely with my S12...
Would it be tempting fate? to say I think it is good that Midgets aren't on offer because I would struggle to justify buying one but struggle just as hard not to.
17. Which one? If it's the 410 it's pretty much "more of the same" ...... I think I ought to be more clear - as a trade I would look at good FX/Midi gear, cabs/combo's in the 2x12 area, with a preference for Class D/Hybrid/Neo... MB, GB, TC style stuff...
Would and swr Goliath interested you?
18. Hi All, Not really using this rig at the moment so up for sale or trade... 2 X EBS Proline 410's with covers.. In damn fine nick, except one cab is missing the knob for the tweeter adjust. I've not got round to replacing it as you can adjust easily anyway and it does not stick out :-) One of the 410's has castors so it's easier to move the stack around.. They're about a grand each new so these are a bargain.. Specs are here - http://www.bass.se/2009/ebs410.htm - in summary 800W RMS/103 db/1w/1m/4 Ohms. I'm based in Stratford upon Avon (about 4 miles from J15 of the M40) You're welcome to try before buying of course... Looking for £325 each for the cabs and covers, In terms of trade, hit me up with what you've got, except for basses...And stuff even heavier than this :-) Cheers Mark
 19. What a wonderful looking bass...
 20. Thought folk might findthis interesting.... Highlight is that ND prices have fallen recently.. http://www.theregister.co.uk/2011/10/21/china_rare_earth_supply_strike/
 21. With special attention to http://www.liutaiomottola.com/myth/perception.htm since we bass players tend to conflate tension with compliance...
 22. I spent many a happy evening at the Cricketers watching Alan in SFX in the early 80's...
Alan Murphy was in Level 42 in the late 80's, wasn't he?
23. Bump for a lot of bass for the money... If only I had not switched to Dingwall Wonky frets :-)
 24. Just my opinion.. Because it's one less battery to worry about, one less cable in a critical signal path if you don't have a tuner out on your amp, (even if true bypass), and if you have a rack mounted amp I suspect the weight of a rack tuner is going to make bugger all difference... And it's one less thing to forget.. :-)
I don't know why you'd want a rack tuner. Just my opinion of course . You can get a great and accurate pedal tuner for not a lot of money. I've got a Turbotuner, but the Pitchblack is good too. Why do you want to add more weight to a rack ? A pedal just fits into your gig bag pocket. Do you always use your rack for every gig ?
