very pretty.. :-) I've just been playing mine ..

I had both an Orange 100 W amp and a Hiwatt 200 watt head in 79-82 with a laughable home built (by me) Mackenzie loaded 15" cab... They were not expensive (the Orange was less than £100 and the Hiwatt about £130) , although Soundcity amps were a little cheaper... Diferent era...

Excellent find :-)
http://www.ebay.co.u...=item3f14367d80 This should do the trick!
Loads of Active cabs have the option to drive a passive "slave" speaker.. My LD Stinger 152A for example... You can get Speakon-Jack speaker cables, as well as XLR to Speakon (although I've only had one amp with an XLR speaker output)....My active MAJ floor monitor also drives a slave monitor via a "normal" jack-jack speaker cable... I would suggest first find a active monitor you like with a slave speaker output, and get a suitable cable to match from EBBM on here :-) Start here.. http://www.ld-system...15-stinger.html IMHO these are significantly better than the Mackie SRM450's, and not far off the Mackie 1521's we also use.. I have two of the LD's as a stereo keyboard rig.. It is mindblowingly loud even without slave cabs .. We also use it as vocal PA where the bigger rig is not justified..

looks good.. will download and have a go..

The Shuttle? Bass player in a band I play keys in has a S12 and a Shuttle 6... Seems to work well, although he eq's quite differently from me.. General opinion is that it's a little clean and the streamliner is the current GB fave for rockier material..
What do you think of that Genz Benz 6.0? Can be had for under 400 quid at the moment which seems like a good deal.
I'm at home except between 3-4 pm... I'll PM you with my number and details.

Try them both.. Go and see Mark in Warwick and then come and see me (or vice versa) - I'm only 15 minutes away...

I'm in Stratford upon Avon..

Sorry I should have been clearer.. When Alex sends cabs to a third party for onward distribution or sale in another territory ..
Barefaced cabs are already distributed to many countries directly: http://barefacedbass...vailability.htm
Don't forget in cabs these days you're paying a signficant premium for light weight/neo builds - or alternatively that lightweight cabs have severely depressed the market for big heavy cabs, although sonically there may not be that much difference... I've got a Super 12T and an EBS proline 410.. I would rate them (although they've got different characters) about the same sonically.. The 410 is worth about £300 the S12 about double that... However the S12 weighs less than 20kg and the 410 40+ kgs...

I think it's going to mainly be a UK thing unless Alex decides to embark on a distribution strategy... As always, try one.. if you like it, keep it.. If you don't, send it back... I kept mine.... Most of us are also happy to let folk come and try their BF cabs out - it's why I decided to take the chance and order one because a kind soul from here let me have a go on his... Also it's not a magic cab... In some circumstances I prefer my EBS 410 - but the combination of weight/size, efficiency and tone are hard to beat IMHO..
hmmm.. not really, I don't know any bass players who have heard of them. Most vocal seem to be from this site and then people who spoke out against them on here don't seem to bother to do that anymore. Maybe that might give the impression that there is massive endorsement when that is not always the case. If it is research you are after, then you need to trawl quite deeply..and maybe include other sites like TB or Fbass.
Well it's arrived... I'll get to try it out properly next wednesday and the Sunday after.... I'll keep you posted..

+11 With Duracell Procell PP3's available for less than a tenner for a box of 10, that's you sorted for 3-4 years... Cheers Mark
If you remove the jack the battery cuts off automatically but if you want to be more reassured then simply take off the battery when you don't use the bass, it's easy and you dont have to go soldering and drilling on the bass. To be sure that is your battery draining and not anything else causing the degradation get a multimeter and take readings of the batterys charge from time to time so you can see how fast it drains. Be sure to use good quality batteries, Duracell or similar. Cheap ones go faster!
What is wrong with modern bassists?
markstuk replied to achknalligewelt's topic in General Discussion
The fact there are Morris Marina and Austin Allegro collectors clubs sort of reinforces this :-)
We're hobbyists, aren't we? A lot of us play professionally or semi-professionally, but in the same way that a lot of people who are interested in cars are also interested in Ferraris or Michael Schumacher, so it is that many of us are impressed by a Fodera or Victor Wooten. But then there will always be people who will insist that their Morris Minor did just as good a job, and that the imperfections of its motor are far more interesting than the perfection of a Ferrari V8. And the world keeps on turning either way. Tar lar
-
Quick Update... Now got the FX sounding reasonable after tweaking the very poorly documented options... Hate the fact that plugging something into the "Instrument Thru" jack disables instrument FX... Don't like the fact I can only choose canned FX as well.. And still don't like the VoiceSupport software which is irritatingly under featured

Hmm.. Some advice? You know when you practice at home and you think you've got it nailed...? Then go to rehearsal and find it's completely different? Playing live for the first time for me was a big a jump as that... Everything sounds different, and it takes a while to adjust.. The only one noticing this about you is..... you... :-) so just keep playing and you'd be surprised how quickly it becomes fun...

Sansamp with a built in 1000watt amp? New Tech21 Amp.
markstuk replied to ben604's topic in Amps and Cabs
I sometimes run my Sansamp Programmable direct into a QSC PLX 2402... A bit more power and about the same weight.. :-) total cost £350... -
One of the professional singers I know won't go near a wired mic anymore as he's had so many nasty shocks in the past...
-
Yup one of my guitards has the VE-20... Like you he's found it works best when using it "toned down" and only uses it for vocal thickening.. .. The voicelive also has internal mics to sense the key, and I'm still not sure that using "roomsense" only is any worse than tracking the bass input... So at the moment I would suggest that the "GTX" extra over the standard Voicelive is a bit of a gimmick.. And I'm still annoyed by the "feature restricted" patch management...
I have a Boss VE-20 and it's great fun. Doesn't have guitar thru so you set it for what key you are in. Good quality sounds, as long as you bin the over the top presets.
