  1. Last reduction now to £1300 collected This would allow for the price of a pro fret job as asked by Lowend Soldier in above post. If no takers from the fret-less community, I may well undertake this option to make it more salable and indeed more usable on a regular basis my myself.
  2. Here is my Bravewood sonic blue fretless, still for sale if interested, It may get a fret job yet which i'm reluctant to do on an Ebony board. But would get more use.
  3. Blue suede shoes, You can burn my house, Steal my car, Drink my liquor From an old fruitjar. My Mrs was the singer in our band and i swore she always sang - Keep my Knickers in an ole fruit jar
  4. Reduced to £1350 collected, trying to reduce the collection to what i play most. Offers/ trades PM me.
  5. Sorry not exactly gigable but maybe one for the interval 😄
  6. Didn't we do this before sort of remember suggesting this though a bit left field 😱
  7. Where unwanted bass - blooms uncontrollably if not scooped 😁
  8. ahh yes Mr Chris_b I should have known, a man with impeccable taste 👍
  9. I was just a couple of single pedals guy for years and Like Bassbiscuits i would have them on top of the cab and thump them with my fist. buying batteries was the thing that took me to a pedal board the smallest i could find Just four on there only used each of them about once through the gig, depending on the set I would sometimes not bother with them at all due to fear of degrading my sound. ( Comp, Oct, synth, Chor/Flange, )
  10. Don't think anyone has mentioned Wilton Felder yet was always one of my bass players to watch out for, sax player too
  11. ex Trombone player here, Brass Band and Orchestra also played Tuba. It all comes in useful, the theory, playing as part of an ensemble, knowing how light a shade make a piece, learn how to practice properly, stage craft etc etc Playing Trombone in a functions band at a high level was invaluable, sight reading on the fly, respecting other performers on the Bill etc stood me in great sted for running a band for thirty years on Bass . I Think Piano or Guitar would have been more useful to go over to bass but the other lessons i learnt along the way were great.
  12. Yes always kept them on pedal board below the cab, less hazards to trip over. even if that meant turning away mid number to switch on or off but that was rare.
  13. Like to add some more Brits Paul Geary Steve Lawson Mark King Yolander Charles Nick Beggs Trevor Barry Neil Murray Paul Westwood John McKenzie
  14. Because the human ear response to sound is opposite to the smiley face Eq. So by having a scoop we are correcting our ears inefficiencies. and getting closer to flat, but all our ears are different and we loose top end as we get older, So some amps have a bright switch for old bass players Just close your eyes and twiddle till it sounds good 👍
  15. Your chance to grab his bass at auction next week https://www.musicalinstrument-auctions.co.uk/sale/35/635/Jah-Wobble-Public-Image-Ltd--1979-Ovation-Magnum-1-bass-guitar-made-in-USA-ser-no-B4124-owned-and-used-by-bassist-Jah-Wobble-within-a-fitted-oblong-hard-case-with-JW-gaffer-tape-to-the-top-and-blue-tape-inscribed-Jah-Wobble-to-the-side-the-case-pocket-enclosing-a-guitar-strap--Sold-with-an-authentication-certificate-from-Andy-Baxter-Vintage-Bass
  16. I think i would add Justification as another key stage. I always manage to justify to myself why i need the amp or Bass and why my existing gear is not quite in the zone for the music i am playing at the moment.
  17. must have been getting a lift home with him i'd guess
  18. It may help her to play Bach on the bass something i have often tried with great difficulty which i usually dismiss as all down to having to play in 4ths. I think she should start out again and play tuned in 4ths, when she goes to a bass store and tries out a few basses she'll sound like Les Dawson 😆
  19. I'm with Merton and Newtone strings they make bespoke sets to your requirements, great for 32" / 30" basses and the guage, i prefer a heavy guage C almost the same as the G string but even this was too guitar like for me. So have now gone back to B-G
  20. Yahh - I think some keyboard players can't help learning the whole piece, just because they can, and it is difficult to get through, if they are not in that space "we just need you to do the string parts and brass stabs" unless it is a keyboard feature.
  21. I can't answer that but i'm sure someone will point you to a local luthier you can trust, but feel it would be a shame to change it.
  22. Well Luke if that does happen and you agree to pay for her operation, don't go to someone advertising on Gumtree without checking the customer feedback 😁
