    I'm selling my Ned Steinberger CR4M electric upright bass because I've hardly played it and I don't like to have things sitting around that I don't use. It's left my house twice, once for a recording session and once for a band practice and it's always been very well looked after. It comes with the hefty NS padded gig bag, a black tri-pod stand and I'll also chuck in my bow and some rosin too. The bow isn't anything special but for a beginner it's perfect. In an attempt to get into playing this bass more I put a set of D'Addario Helicores (which cost me over £100) on it about 8-9 months ago which have hardly seen any use. This is the model with the additional EMG magnetic pickups. I initially went for this one over the basic one because the additional EMG's really open up the amount of sounds you can get from the bass. There is one tiny mark the bass (see 4th pic below). The fretboard has a couple of light marks from the strings touching the board but I struggled to take pictures of those because they're so small. I'm after £1000 for the bass and all the gubbins. I would prefer it to be collected (Plymouth) but I can arrange delivery and it will be very well packed. As for trades, if you've got something you want to trade then let me know. Ideally I don't want to trade this bass but I might be tempted if you have something tasty to offer. Things like GB's float my boat. Here's a bunch of pics, some of them are a bit sketchy because I've got a grotty cold that's given me the shakes but if anyone would like to see more pics let me know and I'll see what I can do Thanks Ed

    Nice basses. What are the Nordy's like in the Streamer? I've been considering making the Nordstrand move on my Streamer Stage 1 for a while but this is the first streamer I've seen with them.

    Thanks to some of the setup tips in this thread and a set of Fender usa Jazz p-ups from Muppet I've got this bass playing and sounding much better now. Cheers chaps!

    If it was me, I'd pull out of paying for it. I'd apologise for wasting their time but do it on the grounds that they lied in the auction saying that it's over 20 years old. They could argue that you should of checked the serial number before but they're in the wrong because they lied in the auction which is a breech of ebay's rules.

    I've been using a markbass TA503 for the last year or so. It's a bit louder than the LMK I had before and it also doesn't compress as much as the LMK. I think the LMK is exactly the same as the LM2 inside, except for there being 2 seperate input sections in the LMK. The TA503 does sound a fair bit louder overall, I've had no problem playing in a loud stoner rock band with it but the LMK never really cut like the TA503 does. Did that make sense? I can't write or think properly today.

I feel exactly like this about electric guitars, I currently have 1 electric guitar that I play every day and that's the only guitar I own. Whereas with bass I currently own 5, 1 or 2 of which will sometimes go a couple of weeks without leaving their cases. If this was my electric guitar I'd feel bad but with basses I don't and I don't have a clue why.

    For me there's two sides to amps- vintage and modern. I've got my modern amp which serves me very well and one day I'll buy an old Ampeg. However with basses it's totally different, the more the merrier!

There are some good music shops around and they need support because otherwise they'll all end up dead within the next 10 years, if things carry on the way they are, - that is unless they open up or already have very cheap online stores.

    I've find my metronome to be a handy practice tool from time to time, after all it is [i]just[/i] a practice tool. I like to use mine to work on consistency of technique, not so much learning to play in time. I see no harm in practicing with a metronome, it's just not the be all end all and everyone knows that. The main constraint on a musician not playing something in time is technique, or to be more specific- your brain not being super efficient at getting the right message to your hands at the right time.

    How come Eric Clapton with his 'blackie' and jaco with his fretless jazz DIDN'T make it into the top 5? And why Jimmy Page with a double neck SG? Surely people picture Jimmy with a Les Paul? Or is it just me?
