Appreciated! Interested to hear your impressions of how they sound together too.

Thank you for doing this, very insightful with the blind taste test! For the P with flats it was very close for me between the Noble and Luce, I think they sound remarkably similar in the first round through my Audio Technica headphones. Both have a well-rounded sound that appeals. In round 3, the Mantle stood out to me for little more with that sparkle in the highs. So overall, not a clear cut one for me at all, they all sound nice and ultimately I feel like I'm splitting hairs. However, I am very impressed by the Luce. I will probably pull the trigger on one of these at some point because I can imagine it being an absolute gem when paired with other preamps that are taking a tone-shaping role. Intrigued to hear what it would be like adding some warmth to the harshness of my Rusty Box, or some valve goodness after a DCX Bass.

Does anyone know why, or have any theories as to why it's priced like this? I don't mind spending a few quid on a great pedal, but I feel like I'm missing something here.

Really enjoy these kinda build videos! His bass collection must be quite something.

Origin Effects BassRig Ampeg B15 Fliptop recreation

This is an interesting insight - I feel quite similar about the Bassrig Super Vintage. I've struggled with dialling in sounds I really like at home, but in a band context it's totally exceeded expectations, to the point where we only used the Bassrig DI from a recent recording session, despite having some pretty decent additional options to blend in from a cab mic and Radial JDI. -

How does it sound with your mustang? Very cool I imagine! -
Reviving this topic to see who people are going to for repairs in York these days?

I think this is a good encapsulation of where pre-amps are currently at.

It’s an always on ‘tone-shaper’ kind of pedal for me, so I’m using it more like a preamp. However, I don’t run it last in my chain. It’s currently sitting after my compressor and octave pedals, but before my Rat clone. It’s worthwhile experimenting with it in different spots in your chain as it can do some cool things to gain pedals.

As a fan of both Sushi Box and Mike Watt, this looks awesome!

My band released a single and video last week from an album that's been in the works for a long time and will finally see the light of day in September. Streaming etc: https://linktr.ee/irk

Resurrecting this chat as I recall finding it helpful earlier in the year, and I now need to get sorted with a card payment provider for gigs. It sounds as though SumUp is a popular choice, I see some mentions of Zettle too. Are people generally using dedicated card readers, or are the 'tap to pay' on a phone options just as good? Are there any other providers worth considering?

For the lucky ones that nabbed this pedal early, can you comment on the tracking outside of standard tuning? What's the 5 string mode like compared to the 'normal' mode?

I didn't realise I wanted a synth pedal on my board until seeing the demos for this. Well played MXR.

Although not a budget option, the Source Audio Nemesis is a great pedal for strange sounds, including reverse delay.

I don’t think you’re alone with this, I can barely choose a can of beans in the supermarket if there’s more than one option. 6 mic options, 6 placement options and 20+ cabs… I’d be there all day!

I've just got back into using mine again, it's an excellent little gadget for practice sessions. I was underwhelmed with the bass presets out of the box, but with some tweaking it's capable of some decent sounds. I've just dialled in a Jamerson-ish tone for my P bass with flats which has kept me entertained for a good chunk of today. How are folks using it for practice? I find the bluetooth connectivity great for playing along to tracks off my phone or laptop.

I just ordered some new ones from ACS a few days ago. The Basschat discount code BASS15 gives 15% off on the ACS website. I’ve used the Pro17 customs for a few years now, which give a pretty flat 17db cut. These are a great all rounders. I’ve also used the 26db filters which are good if things are crazy loud.

Earplug recommendations - ACS? Or something else?

Thanks for this! I'm glad I had a quick check on here before ordering a new pair. Mine aren't fitting as well as they used to, time for some freshies! -

Thanks so much! You’re My Germ was a fun one to record with the sax parts. -
Interesting! I've been using a Rusty Box for close to 15 years now and didn't realise there were alternatives til seeing these discussed here. But yeah, the boost is unusable, I've never touched it!

How do you find the Cosmic Trigger and TS 100 compare?
