Not eBay, but a nice bargain for anyone up near York even if you might have to change a couple of pots.... https://www.gumtree.com/p/guitar-instrument/yamaha-bb424-bass-guitar/1500666173

Yes to all three questions Dave. Only compromise was I sacrificed the coil-split function. My tech guy phoned me to say that the Aguilar M pup wasn't wired for splitting. He said "I could modify it but that would probably invalidate your warranty." To be honest, it's not something I used much anyway so all it means is that the mini rocker switch doesn't do anything. Here's a link to one of last night's mobile phone videos to give you an idea of how it sounds. Aguilar AG 4M/J-HC upgrade

I have a Hybrid II Jazzmaster and it's the best quality Fender I've owned (2015 US, 1985 Japan and several Mexican). I wouldn't hesitate in looking at a Hybrid II bass if I was shopping for another Fender.

I hope they aren’t guitards who “ can play a bit of bass but only with a pick”

Lady who runs my local OM night sungs professionally, and plays guitar and piano well. One night she admitted a love of The Chain. It’s a start… she asked me to recommend a bass so since she’s quite petite I recommended a short scale jazz or Harley Benton beatle bass it’s become a bit of a running joke now that she’s asks me to sound check or solo and I play the chain corruption starts here glad that you chaps had a good time, sadly diy commitments (brick paving in a heat wave ffs) stopped me but maybe next time

Just in from a very hot and sweaty early evening gig with our southern rock band. Played to 120 people packed into Hartlepool’s south Durham social club or as its known locally “Hartlepool Steelies”. Decided to take the Ashdown Head of Doom coupled with my Vanderkley 2 x 12 cab in tribute to one of my hero’s Geezer Butler who as I think we all know, played his last ever Black Sabbath gig just over a week ago. Got everything set up, plugged my pedal board into the HoD and nothing, not even a flicker of an input Vu meter. Checked everything including plugging directly into the amp but the same result, nothing nil nada. Running out of time before show time, I had no option but to raise my level in the FoH, and rely on my in-ears for personal monitoring. The result, no one noticed, and we had a great gig. Looks like I’ll be calling on Ashdown’s legendary customer service tomorrow.

Russ started following Drawmer 1960 in a pedal?
-
I was listening back to some old recordings from a couple of bands I was in back in the day, and the best bass sound I ever had was at one particular studio where the engineer always put the bass through an old Drawmer 1960 valve compressor. It added a lovely, valve-y, chewy resonance to the sound that I've never been able to get by any other means, including any other compressors. Has anyone come across a pedal, or a multi-FX that models the Drawmer 1960? I know there's a plugin for DAWs from Softube, but I haven't come across anything in a pedal...

Wildfires at The George, Chiswick. Third gig. First time using the Digitech BP355 in this band. Sounds great, and the pitch shifter is amazing, no lag even when I'm wireless. Wasn't as hot as we were expecting, and plenty of people were in the pub, many were still there for the final set when it was packed. Shuker 3 -> Swiff Audio wireless -> Digitech BP355 -> TecAmp Puma 500 -> customised Tech Sound System 2x12.

I don't believe so - I have added the specs from the original seller (and I think you check on Fender Japan too), but it is listed as: Pickups: Hybrid II Custom Voiced Single Coil Jazz Bass (Bridge), Hybrid II Custom Voiced Single I don't know if these are ceramic (I assume not, but they do sound great either way!)
