  2. OK kids. I've uploaded the 'This Is Pop' documentary to my Google Drive. It's 2GB, MP4 format and a joy to watch. I'll leave the link active until I need the space. Obviously files are prone to have download issues, if the link is on the wonk, let me know. You should just be able to click and download. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1__xzmx6z_hz4sSVieht-5NQVLRkImfgN/view?usp=sharing
  3. Slide away - Oasis
  4. Hi, bass is made in 2017.
  5. Good point. It was wrapped up in the manufacturers box.
  6. I did plug it in and it worked in passive mode, but not active, with the batteries it was supplied with. I put new batteries in and the active circuit worked. So it was either left switched on while in storage or it's a display/return item.
  7. It still had the wrapping around the strings and came from the warehouse rather than the shop so I'm assuming it wasn't ex-display.
  8. sorry mate but I was being genuine, I do a lot of fishing and I've caught all types mate, bream, roach, trout, pike, carp, but never seen a rumble never heard of it
  9. One problem is I think that exercise 6 on p17 is incorrect, or else I’m really confused!! The key signatures is Bb major - so presumably a G minor exercise. That’s fine for bar 1, but in bar there’s a B natural with no explanation as to why. Same with the 2nd line - a bar with G minor, then a bar with G major. Maybe that’s the exercise - but I found it confusing without that being spelt out. Feels to me like a proof-reading oversight!
  10. I suspect the circuit of this bass was switched on while in storage unless it was a display model.
  11. PS I see Exercises 5 and 6 are things I’ve been trying anyway, so I’ll spend a day with them, then move onto pages 18&19.
  12. Screw (part # 05106) available here Rickenbacker 4003/4001 Bridge Pickup Height Screw - 05106 - For Everything Rickenbacker It's a M/S 10-32 x 11/4 RD PH I believe Spring is Bridge Pickup Height Springs x 2 for Rickenbacker 4000 Series - For Everything Rickenbacker 4003 parts.pdf b pickups.pdf
  13. As far as I am aware battery power does not switch on (bringing power to the onboard 'active' tone controls) until a guitar lead is inserted into the bass's jack socket, completing the 'active' circuit within the bass. The bass should still work as a 'passive' instrument when batteries are flat or not connected.

  15. You’re making great progress, Gareth! I’m moving at a slower pace, just about to start Exercise 5. It all sinks into my brain and fingers more easily on my 4-string, but I prefer the sound of the fretless 5-string, and that gives more opportunities for fingering. I haven’t done them on one string only…. Keep going! And let me know of any problems that lie ahead 🤔
  16. I received a brand new bass from Andertons this week, no cosmetic issues but the battery was dead.
  17. Thanks for the reply. I will contact them. It was all packaged up like new so I don't know if it's been on display but it was not advertised as B stock.
  18. Thanks for the quick reply. I put in some fresh batteries and it worked so the ones in it were dead - perhaps the circuit was left on from the factory. Aside from the damage the bass does look good for the money. I noticed Andertons don't have any more in stock so I wonder if they will repair it? I'll ask them. 😊
  19. really interested in this ill message u
  20. It’s a shame but ultimately it’s a big old thing the double bass and it’s going to get superficially damaged when using it. My 1930s bass has damage similar to this and it’s characterful.
  21. That's not good for a non B stock instrument and dead batteries is another no-no. Anderton's are really good guys, raise it with them and I'm sure they'll sort it soon as.
  22. I should but I make more progress on the fretted and for a very long time that's been incredibly rewarding. When I'm doing my drills I usually feel the same way people do when they mediate. I tend to pick up the fretless after I've had a good couple of hours and I want to mess around, you know?
  23. Hi all, I’m after a single vintage style bridge saddle for a roadworn jazz. Doesn’t have to be ‘roadworn’, but nickel would be good. They’re not listed on Fender’s site and the only ones I can see are on eBay, reverb etc and are in the US. Also they appear to just be the saddle and I could do with the grub screws, screw and spring as well ideally. Does anyone have any idea where I might be able to get hold of one? Thanks in advance
