  2. Two from Queen spring to my mind … The Invisible Man and Dragon Attack Two from Def Leppard … Man Enough and Rock On The first is an original, the second is not. It's a cover of a David Essex song. Mark
  3. Isn't that what I said?? Sine peak volts X to -X Square X/X Power twice as much for the square. Sometimes I feel I am losing my mind.
  4. Almost. The power of a square wave is equal to the RMS power of a sine wave and 1/2 the power (.707 x the voltage) of the peak power of a sine wave. Peak power is defined for a sine wave at 2x the RMS power, and when Trace advertised 500 watts peak power, that's exactly the same as 250 watts RMS. It has nothing to do with burst power (which has an entirely different definition and applied primarily to broad band signals). Power RMS is equivalent to the area under the voltage curve x the current curve, and when integrated over time becomes energy.
  5. Yes, for the most part that is incorrect. There may be a trivial difference at very low frequencies due to filter cap time recharge constants, but it will be less than 1/2dB at 30Hz on a properly designed amp and often much better. Note that meters can be inaccurate at very low frequencies, which why special meters are used for broad band audio measurements.

  7. Over the years I’ve managed to find some interesting stuff , and after making the purchase will often continue looking … just to see how prices might be changing. Just to convince myself I might have found a deal. When I picked up an Epi Flying V bass I did not realize that they had been fairly small runs. I did realize my set neck Ric 4000 was fairly rare. I spent some years trying to hunt down a Yamaha Flying Samurai , and then wound up finding a second one I couldn’t pass on. I wasn’t surprised when Gibson stopped producing those lovely little DC Jr basses , they’re wonderful little things. (I have heard rumours that they might be soon doing another batch). I did find a Unicorn on our local kijiji. Last year I went looking for a Gretsch 5123B hollow body. Managed to instantly find one near Boston , the exchange and duty were brutal. I’ve only seen a couple come up since. That made me want a 6128B Thunderjet. No longer in production , and not common. Found one in Kentucky , and once more brutalized by the exchange , duty and shipping. I’ve only seen one come up for sale since. I still look at TB Classifieds , but I’m not jumping into anything in the US these days.
  8. In the days before Speakon, I used to make my own speaker leads using (orange) twin-core 13A mains cable. I used high quality metal body jacks with internal plastic insulation over the tip connection and I fitted heat shrink over the metal body and strain relief to minimise the risk of any shorts.
  9. We had a try out of Electric Six ‘Gay Bar’ tonight - nailed first time as you’d expect from such a simple ditty. We’re planning on putting it in as a cheeky little encore on Saturday.
  10. I'd definitely buy this if I hadn't bought the lovely Bryant from @bassace six months ago!
  11. Hi Chris, Seems I don’t automatically get a notification when someone replies! I’ve PM’d you the number. Terry
  12. No it doesn't. It's post gain but before master volume.
  13. Welcome Chris, I live in Derby, gigging and teaching bass. I worked in East Mill in Belper for years (when it was offices rather than a mill, I’m not that old!)!
  14. Orange Terror. The DI level is affected by the gain setting but not master volume. In my experience this is how most amps work, with DI taken between preamp and power amp.
  15. I bought a microphone from Lee - it arrived super quickly and very well packaged, he even helped me track it down after Royal Mail went a bit rogue! Just an all round great guy to deal with, thank you!
  16. I live in Nova Scotia and watch local classifieds like a hawk , have not bought a thing this year. I’ve found sellers are optimistic , and many things are simply not selling. Items priced to quickly move can sit for weeks. Buyers are scarce. I’ve pretty much given up on importing from the US because of the exchange , duties and shipping.
  17. Price drop - now 210 Selling this lovely Bitmap in great shape with original box - it's basically mint apart of velcro. These received significant software update last year with additional clipping modes etc. Red Panda has also very convenient web editor for presets. Happy to trade (with price adjustments) for interesting dirt pedals. Bitmap occupies my "loose spot" for additional dirt in pedalboard and I'm just happy to experiment. Basic overdrive I'm covering with Capo. The ones I would love to try are EAE, Damnation Audio, Broughton, Bearfoot, Hiero etc. Would've thrown 3leaf in but what are the chances

  18. Stop being soft. You know I don’t like it when you’re soft. 😉
  19. Hands Off She's Mine- The Beat
  20. Ever wanted that mega Bi phase action like a musitronic! But smaller and cheaper. These are difficult to find, so my last bump.
  21. Raising cash so up for sale is IMHO one of the finest tracking octavers available for bass. It has two distinct octave voices a Growl which replicates the toothy synth tone of an OC2 and a Girth which is smooth and deep like an EBS octabass/octamizer. You can get subtle variations from mixing the two. It also has a switchable mid boost/cut on the clean tone which can be adjusted internally, very handy. Usual small MXR enclosure with fantastic build quality. Its in great condition and a beautiful deep blue sparkle. No box, but will be well packed. (Note- the A sticker will be removed and cleaned, ive a two channel setup and kept mixing them up 🤣) £90 posted to UK only
  22. Now your talking. Let 'em have it!
  23. Bump. These were cut nice and long to allow them to be fitted on a Dingwall bass. They should therefore, fit on any other bass.
  24. Went well. We only played through the first set, then did some troubleshooting... usual stuff, an established band has its own arrangements. Quite how they fitted in an extra two beats to each chorus of Milk and Alcohol eludes and confuses me... Knowing I'm up to speed on the second set is a confidence boost as I start gigging with them in July. Originals tomorrow night... keeping four bands' worth of songs in your head is good brain training!
