Johnebass started following Trickfish J-Core pre-amp, 4 band with knobs
-
As new, only used once and in the original box as you can see from the pictures. Don’t know why but I preferred my Sadowsky pre-amp. As you would expect, this unit is in immaculate condition as it was only in the bass for a few weeks. All in the original box. Technical info: The J-Core preamp takes our widely acclaimed Flexcore Onboard Bass Preamp to the next level - now in a hassle-free Jazz Bass plate drop-in design. No modifications, no soldering, just pure performance. Powered by the incredibly flexible and supremely musical Mike Pope-designed preamp with a 4-band EQ, the J-Core puts tonal control at your fingertips. With internally selectable EQ points for each band and refined signal path enhancements, it’s designed to bring out the best in every note you play. All this, plus a 9-volt battery, fits neatly into your existing Jazz Bass control cavity. Effortless design meets exceptional sound. We’ve swapped out traditional jumper-style selectors inside the J-Core for intuitive rocker-style mini switches. These make it easier than ever to fine-tune the frequency centres of each of the 4 EQ bands, allowing you to customize the EQ to match your bass’s unique voice and your personal tonal preferences. With selectable frequencies at 46Hz or 90Hz, 330Hz or 473Hz, 600Hz or 900kHz, and 6kHz or 10kHz, the J-Core offers precise control to shape your sound exactly how you like it. Additional switches allow for 0, 3, 6, or 8 dB of output gain. A hallmark of a truly versatile Jazz Bass is its passive tone control. Some players prefer a subtle tone roll-off that preserve’s midrange presence, while others lean toward a darker, more classic passive tone. The J-Core comes stock with a .022 Cap and can be easily customized with an additional through-hole parallel capacitor. For years, the Flexcore has set the benchmark for players seeking unparalleled fidelity, clarity, and warmth from their active instruments. Until now, however, it wasn’t available as a drop-in replacement for Jazz Basses. With the J-Core, you can finally bring the renowned flexibility and performance of the Flexcore into the Fender universe— elevating your sound without changing what you love about your instrument. FREQUENCY SPECIFICATIONS Treble: +/- 15dB at 6kHz or 10kHz Hi Mid: +/- 15dB at 600Hz or 900Hz Lo Mid: +/- 12dB at 330Hz or 473Hz Bass: +/- 12dB at 46Hz or 90Hz This Trickfish J-Core is the 4-band active preamp version with SIDE mounted jack. Currently for sale in Bass Direct for £285 but you can buy this one for just £200 delivered in mainland UK.

Maude started following Spinal Tap 2 ...

Is this a good time to admit I've never seen 'This Is Spinal Tap'? 😬

Fits a 2EQ or 3EQ Stingray with truss rod wheel, so approx 1990-2018. Made by the people in California that produced the original EBMM matte black pickguards back in the 90s / 00’s, this is one I custom ordered a few years ago. But my bass is now HH so I have a similar replacement. It’s got some scratches, as pictured, but you don’t want a shiny new pickguard on your 30 year old instrument right? 😊 £35 posted

Hi all, Haven’t played this in a long time and bills/back to school needs-must. Beautiful Taylor acoustic from 2008 (the 5th one built on 7th July according to the serial number). Excellent condition, a couple of very minor ‘impacts’ which I’ve tried to photograph, but nothing to write home about. The Taylor hard case is in equally good condition with all clasps working perfectly. I don’t have any boxes/packaging to post this, so collection/meet-up preferred. Any other questions, just ask 🙂 Si

Spoombung started following Fallen Out Of Love With Fretless
-
I took up fretted bass seriously for my band, Prescott after playing fretless bass for decades. Obviously it depends on the music you're making - in my case quite tricky tunes - but frets made it easier and frankly more enjoyable and the difference in sound was quite refreshing. I gradually brought the fretless in again for the second album but I recommend giving fretless a break.

The Short Scale Bass Appreciation Society!

Just got the ESP/LTD B4JR bass in the door that I bought used Friday yesterday. It's a just 28.5" scale length short scale, with a Basswood body, and a Maple neck with Rosewood fretboard. And after a thorough setup, and having the stock pickups, which honestly sounded decent enough, for an EMG Geezer P pickup, it sounds non less than amazing. Really nice tone, both finger plucked and using a pick, and the sustain is pretty substantial too. Even the low E sounds great, despite the short scale length. It's also very light, the body being made of Basswood, which does make it prone to neck dive, but nothing a wide grapy strap can't solve. Now the bad things, when I got it it had one of the most horrible setups I ever saw, and with loose input jack socket, that was easily fixed though, however the nut slots are cut way too high, and it got some pretty sharp fret ends, that you can literally cut your hand on if you are not careful, and will probably have fixed that too at some point by a proper luthier. The thin U shaped neck will also take some getting used to, it is not exactly beefy, but it kind of feels that way, because the neck profile is so round. The frets are not perfectly leveled leveled, but still well enough that I can get it to my preferred string action (about 2mm (~5/64") low E string at 12th fret) without any issues or string buzz whatsoever. Truss rod works as it is supposed to, and neck seems stable. Tuners are not the best, but they work just fine. Here it is (excuse me for my old crappy digital camera): I got it for what equals about 30£, a deal I could simply not pass. -
What are your irrational prejudices? I have some bonkers ones...

You'd better not look in "Basses for sale" then. -
Outstanding!

Another option would be to plead guilty and ask for 9000 other offences to be taken into consideration, as then he couldn't subsequently be tried for those. It's always possible that the police are keeping everything else up their sleeves to see what becomes of this case. Or alternatively they've lost all the paperwork for all the fraud cases that have been reported to them.

There's TV studio footage of them in Germany with Marshall, Hi-Watt BL which seems live and he sounds exactly the same so I would imagine as with many of us he sounds the same whatever he's playing due to his bass, strings, and technique.

This how I approached the last Tool album after hearing the first single.

£50 price reduction Trades - X Touch Universal. Try me with anything, I can only say no 😁 Great bass in good condition, comes with hard case. Short scale. Not a heavy bass. Plays well. Not really any damage to speak of. There’s a little bit at the top of the headstock (photographed) but looks much worse than it actually is. I’ve removed the strap lock pins and replaced them with the originals that were odd when I got it. The case is old but fully function and all the clasps work. Can post at buyers expense or can be collected from BB22SH Any questions please ask.

I had the stereo and sold it. Regretted it and bought the mono. It really is the Swiss Army knife of amp world. I’ve got a Markbass Evo 1 to try out at the moment which basically, has the Multiamp amps and effects but has two independent channels, which is exactly what I need. I think it’s what I’ve been looking for, for a long time 😁

A genuine rarity. A bass for the 5-string player who likes the sound of 8-strings but would like that bit of extra range. I'm thinning the herd and this one doesn't get used. I'd hang on to it if I wasn't being ruthless. Bolt-on construction, quite a chunky neck (as you'd expect), active with volume, blend, treble, and bass. The bridge allows individual intonation adjustment for each string, rather than pairs of strings as some lower-quality instruments do. Action is low. I put new strings on it when I got it and it's been used very little since then. Some small marks on the body and slight dents on the back of the neck, nothing significant though. Mahogany body and neck with oil finish, rosewood fingerboard. It's in Tamworth, close to J10 M42 - I'd prefer not to ship it, but I will travel a bit for a meet up. As this is a herd-thinning exercise, I'm not looking for swaps. Probably.
