  1. Past hour
  2. If you fancy an experiment I've a couple of sets of used Elites Groundwounds (cut for 4 in a row with generous winds). Happy to post you a set for nowt if you want to give them a bash. Supposedly used by Mani of the Roses. Ive always loved them but moved back to their full flats recently
  3. 👍 makes total sense
  4. After much experimentation over the last few months, I have now settled on my preferred strings for each of my basses, so these unused sets are all up for sale. All prices are posted per set, but happy to combine and discount for multiple purchases. GHS Pressurewound (39.25" winding and custom made to fit Dingwall basses and imported from the US) - £40 3 x Newtone Platinum nickel roundwounds on round cores - (2 x 37" and 1 x 38" ball end to taper) - £35 SOLD 2 x GHS Brite Flat groundwounds (38" ball end to taper) - £38 1 x Elites Groundwounds (38" apart from the B, which is 37.25" I think) - £30 Thanks for looking.
  5. I pulled this as the new price has dropped below £500 now. However, on reflection I think £600 for the amp in mint condition, plus the bluetooth adapter, footswitch and carry bag is still a good deal, so it's back up again.
  6. For sale new sealed 4 string set of Daddario half wounds enr70 long scale 40-95 semi flatwound strings
  7. Think this looks fab, unfortunately out of my range right now so have a bump on me
  8. Sadowsky Scratchplate/ pickguard . Black, was on a 2005 MIJ mv4 from new. Some wear evident
  9. I've only seen 3 basses for sale second hand in the 20+ years I've been playing them. One was the 4-string fretless that Happy Jack bought off me, One was a 5-string fretted in flip purple that I bought and had refinished in CAR when it was refurbished by Gus. The other was a 4-string fretted in cream with a carbon fibre scratch plate that believe was owned by @6feet7 for a while?
  10. It would be for this 80's sound definitely - I play mainly folk rock, and I switch between my upright bass and the Ibanez, so the woodier faster decay on the notes fits better with the higher action and keeps it in line with the upright tones.
  11. Oops you’re quite right; it’s a Skyline 55-60. Looked exactly like a DJ5! 🙄 Anyway it’s here just in case

I just had a look for this and I couldn't see it unfortunately, thanks though.
  14. Tame the mwah? That’s interesting. I always thought that the accepted wisdom was “the mwah the merrier”.
  15. Is it possible to run the bxr 400 into a single cab? I’m not trying to run both inputs. I just wanna know nothing is gonna blow if i just rig it up like you would any other bass head. One head one cab etc.
  16. @CalDeephas a very nice-looking DJ5 up for sale on here.
  17. Distortion/overdrive is a very personal thing and there's so many different flavours - are there any particular players or songs you like the sound of?
  18. While I am on the subject, did you know that Nick Beggs is 62.. he's older than.... me
  19. Thanks for this recommendation - just listening to the album, amazing. I have an Ibanez SRH-500F fretless, which has slightly raised action to tame the mwah, and it's a bit woody, so might look at getting a pedal to get near this tone.
  20. Just to tidy things up, I present the complete Nick Beggs bass part from the final tune from 'The Raven That Refused To Sing' from Steven Wilson. Great one for counting long passages with no bass and then changing time signatures inc. a long stretch in 7:8 with some challenging passages. It's a stunning record. You can hear the Chris Squire influence in the Beggs sound. https://bilbosbassbites.co.uk/the-watchmaker-steven-wilson/
  21. Yeah I’ve been looking at different pedals I’ve seen a deluxe big muff second hand pretty cheap so gonna try that out and see how it goes. My rebop has the adjustable tone pump so I’ve already tried adjusting it up and down to no avail. I’ve just bought a euro 4lx as well which I’ve not tried through my pedals yet but I’m guessing it’s going to be a similar issue. Happy to hear any suggestions for pedals to try
