  2. Definitely an option, I did like your blue cabinet at the bash, Rob
  3. Listening to some Alborosie today
  4. I've always found that it gives you a little more bottom end sustain. It's not as important as good quality grade woods, but I guess all these small things add up.

  11. Hi mate, I'm in Ealing so your side of London. Dimensions are as follow: W x H x D 594 x 662 x 426
  12. Got this a short while ago here (paid a happy £300) and then promptly got a Vanderkley / Eich rig - so virtually unused by me (or the former owner it seems). Still available new around £560. Excellent unmarked condition, used at home low levels but it seems easily capable of handling smaller gigs with live drums. 300W, 2 x 10" Width 43cm x Depth 38 x Height 52cm Weight 14 Kg Complete with kettle lead, don't have a cover. Reluctant to ship (courier bit is easy, it's the packing that causes the problem) - but I will drive a bit to meet up.
  13. Pedal/Gear clearout - All Pedals include shipping M-Audio 8 Track - £80(+box) EHX Multiplexer - £50 (+box) Vivlex tuner - £15 (+box) EHX Superego - £100 (+box) TC Helicon Voicetone r1 - £80 (-box) Caline Power 5 - £15 (+box) NI Maschine Mk3 - £300 (+box, brand new never used)
  14. Slightly higher string tension on string through. I have found on my string through Precisions that there is a tad less mids but we’re really talking a waffer theen meent amount here.
  15. Last night the desk defaulted to our last gig using their house pa for the first set. and as the pub had loud background music a decent setup was tricky.
  16. To be fair the desk was working fine until he decided to mic all the drums up and something changed. The big advantage i saw was that we could store the settings for each venue. I think you need to be operating these desks regularly to keep on top of them but unfortunately we play venues with their own PA's or we have hired a PA company for some. Before the drums were added we only had vocals and sound effects thru the PA. Everything else was backline even in larger 200 capacity venues. It just seemed to work for what we were trying to copy from early 70's when sounds was a lot simpler 😂 Dave
  17. Only because I'm standing in the men's section of Tesco catching up on basschat.co.uk while ms. S browses clothes...
  18. That would be a good night in this club. Its a decent size with a good stage area too. Dave
  19. Is there meant to be a discernible difference between stringing through body or bridge? Never noticed it on any of my American Fenders I've owned.
  20. Just bought a secondhand set from eBay which came with the carry case, looking forward to using these. Any ideas on how to create a Chris Squire style of patch?
  21. I had a pair of these Delano’s made for a new bass with both the same width as the bridge pickup. They also have raised pole pieces under the A and D strings for cambered string placement. They are used but as new. I’ve decided to go back to the HE model that I’ve used for many years on my other basses. The price includes standard U.K. postage..
  22. Paint it with emulsion and topcoat it with matte or satin varnish. It’s what I did with my micro cab. 2 years in and it looks pretty good still 👍
  23. Just when you think life is agreeably predictable it can throw you a curved ball. I'm faced with having to move and downsize considerably. 7 basses is several too many. This lovely instrument from Mike Walsh in Essex is rather special. Tonally it is much modelled on the Aria SB1000. I traded it from Mark, the original owner, with another Zoot that he had built and sold on to me. Incestuous. 32" scale with a 7/8 sized Zoot body. English spalted beech on a light weight American swamp ash body. Spalted beech facing on the headstock. The neck is roasted Canadian flamed maple with purple heart stringers and ebony veneers. Hipshot hardware. And now for the electronic components that were used to replicate the SB1000 tone: A Rautia MB-1E pickup. These are no longer available. Prostheta’s BB Noisekiller preamp. A 6 way Varitone circuit built to purpose by Mike. The bass has added tonal variety courtesy of a series/parallel switch, an active/passive switch and a passive tone. It isn't a one trick pony by any means but some of the settings produce distinctly 80's sonics unlike I've heard from a bass before. The bass is very light, 7 1/4 lbs on bathroom scales. Nut width is 40mm and string spring at the bridge 16mm. Complete with a hard case as shown. Can be tried and collected from Kendal. Will include an unused set of Newtone strings. I will courier to UK addresses at cost. Mark's build thread is here: Any questions, don't hesitate to ask. Peter
