To me the MiM basses were always a bit more of a "proper" Fender. Corona and Ensenada factories are less than 200 miles away from each other, they'll be using woods and other materials from the same source, probably a big crossover in terms of staff (Corona uses a substantial Mexican workforce), using the same or extremely similarly specced hardware etc. In the past parts from MiM Fenders have ended up on USA models and vice versa.

Bartolini MK1 Soapbar sized pickups that sound like Active EMGs
Dood replied to Delberthot's topic in Accessories and Misc
I've had no indications to that end at the moment. They sound great, like active EMGs in general, popping the passive tone back a bit gives a great "more familiar passive tone", but there's the clarity if thats what you're after on tap too. -
Bought new from GAK a couple of years ago, un gigged and little use, strung with d'addario chrome flats and fitted with East J retro circuit . Tried out in the Brighton shop against some higher end jazz basses and it was a lot better than some twice the price or more. Fender details Tap into that classic Jazz Bass sound Equipped with two single coil Fender Jazz bass pickups, this guitar offers all of the clarity and punch that you would want out of a bass and more. Melt into the mix with grumbling lows, crisp mids and open highs that produce a truly unique tone that has been reimagined through decades of Fender innovation – and accessed by dozens of legendary bass guitarists. The innovative wiring and magnets within these pickups provide for an expressive voice that is extremely well-defined and responds to the dynamics of your playing, no matter what your style is. Industry standard craftmanship This Squier Jazz Bass’ body is crafted from poplar, delivering a high frequency response as well as an overall light tonal contribution with sparkling highs. Poplar is a soft tonewood, therefore it offers a mellowed sound with warm lows to juxtapose the pick ups and create a perfect harmonic balance. The guitar itself is also lightweight thanks to the selection of poplar wood, providing a comfortable experience that can carry you all the way through the night With a maple constructed neck, you’ll be guaranteed a bright sound with plenty of twang, as well as excellent levels of resonance and sustain. Paired with a laurel fingerboard which will offer a smooth playability and high-quality physical feel beneath your fingertips in addition to a glorious amount of tonal warmth and depth. What’s more, the locking bridge works with the tuning pegs to help you stay in tune for longer, no matter how intense things get A definitive bass look So often described as the first choice for many bassists across the globe, this retro inspired aesthetic will have you standing out in any crowd. The space-age metallic blue body and matching headstock blends seamlessly with the exposed wood of the neck, as well as the cream pickguard, to achieve a timeless visual appearance. I think the Templeboard Solo is the perfect size for my needs, not sure I can justify another board on top of my RB 2.1 and 3.0 though!
-
I get bike boxes (free from bike shops), cut them down to the right size and line with expanded polystyrene sheets.

Dave Rat checked the X32 and the Midas version and found the Midas version to have quieter pre-amps and A-Ds. Have you noticed any difference?

I assume so, AFAIK the CV were made in China early on but moved to the Indonesian Cort factory that produced the now defunct VM range. Wouldn't really matter to me if I wanted one tbh. both locations can produce some great instruments.
-
How is that really any different from them being made in Mexico (or Japan) for decades? From my understanding* the Indo factories are much more modern in equipment than at least the Mex one. By the same logic, why is my superb PRS SE guitar just a decal too? * Phil McKnight is doing a tour of the huge Cort factory in the next couple of weeks, so we'll see that one first hand.

Yeah that's right the top is only 6mm thick so I cut that out separately on the the laser engraver then glue the top onto the body and use that as the template to rout the body shape, then I rout out all the cavities, fit the magnets and hey presto flush mounted pickguard 👍🏻

kiat started following Zoom B3 top tips?
-
I've been (pub, function) gigging with my B3 these past 12 months and it's been a godsend (every basic effect I need and an integrated DI). However, I've decided to go my first pedalboard (power, wireless guitar, wirless IEM, DI, dedicated tuner) and the B3 won't fit on my compact design, so I've ordered a Valeton GP-5. But I'll continue to use my B3 wherever possible, including for experimentation whether the patch ideas and settings end up on the GP-5 as well. Tips that work for me are: assigning patches to single pedals (Compression, Octave, etc) as well as the multi-pedals. using the DI which can do PRE or POST (depending on the gig and band, I use PRE when DI'ing to IEM headphone amps and POST when DI'ing to a PA/FOH). preserve the ability to restore patches and their settings to their factory setting - otherwise the only way to do it is to reset the entire unit (the factory settings have to be first saved to an attached computer and reimported via connected Edit&Share B3 software). keep full batteries in it as a backup, but run it off power don't drop your B3 (again)! On the outside it is built like a small tank, but inside it is not - my battery holder shattered into 3 pieces and only careful supergluing got it back working, avoiding having to hunt online for a replacement part (had little hope they are still being made or even a published model, 3d printed).

Oh fair enough. Is it just the cheaper Squier range made in China then? I would still buy the Squier, but surely it renders the Fender nothing more than a decal!

Chi started following NEW: Fender American Professional II Jazz Bass V - £800 off!
-
This Fender American Professional II Jazz Bass V was bought BRAND NEW from Peach Guitars in Colchester Essex for £2,000 for a studio, tested and put back in case. Never used. 2024 I went on an instrument buying binge. Bought this brand new and when it was delivered because I was buying so much gear I didn't even open the box. By the time I did I was outside the 14-day returns the window for Peach Guitars so I have been sitting here in its case ever since. Still has plastic film on scratch plate and tuning keys. Comes with a brand new set of spare strings. Popular Slim “C” neck now sports smooth rolled fingerboard edges, a “Super-Natural” satin finish and a newly sculpted neck heel for a supremely comfortable feel and easy access to the upper register. New V-Mod II Jazz Bass V single-coil pickups are more articulate than ever while delivering the punch and clarity the Jazz Bass is known for. PLEASE NOTE: This bass in particular is lightweight at 3.85kg and very resonant. And the Low B is probably the best we've ever heard on a Fender 5 regardless of the price. SPECS Two V-Mod II single-coil Jazz Bass V pickups Slim “C”-shaped neck profile with rolled fingerboard edges Bone nut; 20 narrow-tall frets HiMass™ Vintage bridge for increased sustain Posiflex graphite rods for neck reinforcement Includes Deluxe Molded hardshell case

Bartolini MK1 Soapbar sized pickups that sound like Active EMGs
Dood replied to Delberthot's topic in Accessories and Misc
The ExW is indeed a wide aperture ceramic pickup. 12.2Khz res frequency, "giant stacked square coil". EMG say they have essentially filled the entire shell to accomodate the design. It will do 27 VDC like other EMGs if thats your bag. E4W: 32mm x 101mm E5W: 32mm x 109mm E6W: 32mm x 119mm -
