    Cabinet Plans

David / Phil, Many thanks for the input, it's much appreciated. I've attached images of both the driver and tweeter, my mistake it's not a Celestion but another Eminence. This time it looks like its an ME 15-2008, 8 ohms. A little quick digging and the TSPs are alleged to be : Qts 0.59, Vas 224 l,Qes 0.67 fs 46Hz. That's all I could find quickly. David, to answer the points you raised, no I hadn't used the Ashdown cabinet before I pulled it apart, except for a quick test when I bought it to make sure the drivers weren't blown. The wiring on the panel had been in part disconnected, and one jack socket had disappeared inside. most of the remaining wiring was left in situ so I maybe able to reconstruct hw it was wired given that there are three coloured wires, red, black and orange. The internal dimensions, as best I can measure them, of the old Ashdown cabinet are 55cm x45cm x38cm, which I make around 94L. Without removing the adhesive on the tweeter cap I can't see the value, regarding the resistor (or could it be two?) that looks like 10W 15 ohms. but an image check suggests it may actually be two resistors perhaps in series. I'm happy to remove the adhesive around the components if needed to see if I can actually identify the values, or even remove them and try to measure them as I have a meter that's alleged to measure capacitance. I do hope I'm not taking up too much of your time with all of this, as a child of the 50's repair and restore in engrained in my DNA. 😊 David
  3. This. I've tried explaining to my bandmates that when the audience recognise a song, they get a little rush of serotonin (like solving a crossword clue or getting a zero in pointless!) Waddling out the riff or introducing every song both underestimates the intelligence of your audience and throws away such an easy way to help build appreciation.
  4. Sadly I was only 13, only got into going to gigs at about 16/17 and not many 😞
  5. Had to put this at auction on ebay if anyone was interested
  6. Individual Bridges... never look neat to me.
  7. Hi all Didn’t trust Philip Conrad on his JMJ pushing so went on my own to trial a few ‘stangs including JMJ briefly. Among them were the Squier one which is strung with Chromes and the Vintera currently strung with Labella MUS ones. Both sound awesome for the money and Vintera feels sooo awesome. I think it is the chunky neck. I then stumbled upon a Bronco pumped up with Tru Bass strings and an SD quarter pounder at a stupid price. Added to that the chunky neck which I love and the 60s cartoony (Pink Panther) sound I am keeping it. So 500 quid plus postage for Vintera not 750 250 quid ish plus postage for the Squier. Both come dwith cases and I’m happy to hand deliver to London or pick up Canterbury. SOLD Unless someone has something crazy to offer I will hold out for sale-only Cheers Fatos

  8. Bugger. No-one seems to have Colron French Polish in stock. I have no idea if a different brand (Rustins, Liberon) is going to look the same or not. Don't suppose anyone has a half used tin of Colron French Polish they could spare? Sorry to say but two house moves since 2007 have put paid to me ever finding my old can of it
  9. People getting their nose broke, being thrown off a balcony. I'm afraid to visit the UK now. Daryl
  10. Did I say something about it in the previous page?
  11. Non-black extension leads. When I did theatre work, nothing on stage should be visible if it's not a prop or a performer.
  12. That's definitely not irrational. Add to that the 6 note guitar solo played after every song. The guitarist playing the first 4 chords of the song before the next song.
  13. In the past few days I’ve seen ads with “if you’re looking at this you’ll know what it is” piece of hi-FI, a “stunning” amp, “Gb” memory, “very rare”, and one or two other instant swipe-left phrases.
  14. From what I can see, most " start up " bands never see their 1st gig. It's very difficult to find people that can fully commit. Daryl
  15. Faith Healer by SAHB. I remember going to the rock disco’s at the Top Rank Suite in Cardiff during 1975, they used to play this track through the massive PA, the throbbing into to the song was awesome, you could feel it hitting your chest. I would be surprised if Stub Mandrel didn’t attend any of the rock disco’s or live gigs there.
  16. It definitely devalues the sticker if you take the bass off it.
  17. Years ago I briefly joined a band because I was desperate to be in a band. I made it to two rehearsals before I realized my mistake. Too far of a commute and wrong type of music for me ( metal ). I had to figure out an acceptable reason quitting. I called them and created a mythical family death. It worked. Daryl

  19. Up for sale is my Mexican made Fender Vintera 70s Jazz Bass in 3 colour sunbust that I bought as B stock from Mann's Music in March. The bass (serial number: MX22287391) is in great condition with the exception of a small area of lacquer loss near the strap button (pictured). Looks and sounds great, the pickups have that great bright, slightly compressed 70s Jazz bass sound. The bass comes with a gig bag that Fender describe as 'deluxe', it's really not. Cash on collection would be much preferred as the gig bag included with this bass is distinctly lacking in padding protection and I wouldn't be able to insure this with a courier as there is no hard case. A half way meet up is a very real possibility if you’re in the South East. I’m not interested in trades unless you have a Fender Aerodyne Jazz Bass (the original black version without a pickguard). Any questions, please let me know. Here's a link to my previous feedback as a Basschat seller for assurance of a clean and honest transaction:
  20. In my only band that had originals we just agreed not to gig any of the songs solely written by the departed member. Thus said we did record and release things pretty quickly so no one could really try to release something in their own name without referencing the band as the recording was already on spotify etc. If any of the departed song writers wanted to re-record and release again I don't think I would have a problem - I think legally the song IP belongs to the writer, but the recording IP belongs to all those on the recording, so a songwriter can re-record and re-release, but musicians can't... I think...
  21. Just build it a little shorter, no one will know!🤣

  24. Seemingly Irish s/h prices are mental, 300 euros for a second hand sr300😭 Last year I managed to pick up a Harley benton deluxe gotoh with foam case and flats for 130 which is amazing in both price and fit and finish, it's my most gigged bass as my atk sits on the stand. I'm buying my son his own and he's firm on wanting a j style bass
