  2. The only way you’ll ever solve this is by just trying a load… like, as many as you possibly can. Every OD changes its timbre with every combination of bass, amp, cab, impedance load of other pedals etc. That said, I can do what everyone else here has done and tell you which OD pedals have worked for me. Sounds like you are looking for low gain, a bit of grit and warmth, enough to give you break up and drive other pedals into a bit more of a snarly state. As such, I have used and loved the following for that purpose… Fuzzrocious Demon. Fuzzrocious Broke Dick Peanut Gallery. Fuzzrocious Li’l Fella (I have one for sale, wink wink). (So, basically everything Ryan at Fuzzrociousmakes!) Ampeg Scrambler (I think it sucks at high gain, but it really shines at low gain break up). Horrothia Teeth (my new fav, but still in the honeymoon period). Fulltone Mosfet Bass Drive (there are some clones out there I think that are cheaper). COG Knightfall (any version). Damnation Audio MBD (most people like this on nasty settings, but I think it’s best at low gain). EBS Valve Drive (the pedal is huge though). Mad Professor Blueberry. Many of these are very versatile, suit many playing styles and set ups and venture into high gain, or even fizz territory, but I’m recommending them specifically for their low gain applications. Time to go watch some demos!
  3. As new still sealed in packs, 3 sets available £10.50 per set including postage. I have been trying various brands of strings on a number of basses, whilst these are very nice I'm going to Dunlop's for my fretted Warwick. To my ears the Eden's seem similar to Rotosounds, maybe not quite as 'zingy' initially.

  4. Reduced to £50. Kent Armstrong Bass Humbucker for a 4 string bass. Circa 1990 when I purchased new and still in excellent condition and virtually unmarked. It's been in two of my basses over the last 35 years and sounds great. I think these were handmade, add £7.00 for UK insured postage.

  5. MXR poly blue octave for sale, in perfect working order and excellent condition: one very small paint chip/scratch near top right hand corner. Velcro underneath, no box. An impressive amount of functionality including expression pedal input, 2 octaves down, 2 up plus fuzz and modulation if wanted. I'm keeping my boss oc-5 which suits my needs better so this is up for grabs. Collection welcome or UK insured postage for £8.00
  6. Welcome, I'm from just up the road!
  7. What happened to DHL? They carried the last bass I got from the US very professionally.
  8. Had a think about this, and really just comes down to 2: Black blocks on a maple board. Ugh. Jam nights with no proper song list plan. Inevitably just drifts into the guitarist(s) widdling endless blues solos (suffered this torture earlier this week.....) All eye of the beholder I know, but re some earlier posts I'd have to say that IMHO baked beans, sunburst with tort, and Wal basses are 3 of mankind's greatest achievements. Probably in that order
  9. The Horrorthia pedal design is pretty awesome. The arcade switch for on-off is a nice touch (feels super solid, doesn’t worry me that it’s not a metal switch), and they are gorgeous. I own two pedals from him and both are top notch. I’m really interested by his fuzz pedal, but I’m also super happy with my fuzz options. I mean, I guess I was happy with my low gain options, but I really have no desire to change fuzz. For now
  10. Branding isn’t free! I think most would agree Fender are the biggest contemporary instrument brand of the last century. Of course it offers little to the end consumer other than a sort of guarantee of quality…
  11. Make sure you report in after you’ve used it for a few gigs. Will be interesting to hear your insight to gigging this way!
  12. The main problem with this is the tuners stick out beyond the strap buttons.
  13. It doesn't say it's Graphite.
  14. More work last night and tonight: - Re-installed the bias board more securely (bolts have nyloc nuts); - Added the feeds from the PI to the 6L6 control grids, as well as the negative bias supplies (all of them brown/blue wires); - Connected the AC (orange) and ground (black) to the bias board; - Installed the NFB connection and corresponding ground reference (green/black wires).

  16. Honestly, I didn't seriously consider them as the adverts I saw of them were all on cables, and I wanted to make my own, especially as some of my board cables are XLR to TS. When I saw these little beauties, intrigued by the hinge design, I knew I had to try them.😁 Thanks, a design like this obviously isn't for most folks (including probably every full-time professional) who have multiple pedals and/or very pro setups, but I'm focusing on speed of setup and connectivity. I'm also wary power cables can get kicked about on the stages I go on, with my feet, multiple bands etc. Will see how it goes and whether I reintroduce power and audio cables back in.
  17. I was commenting on your avatar! 🙂
  18. Thanks! It's a nice combo with some heft to the tone. If it was practical for me to have multiple rigs, I'd keep hold of it.
  19. The Sterling swap is still on offer, and am relatively local...
  20. Got another: clip on tuners on stage. Feel free to use them all round the house, but they should never be seen on stage. Even band practice is pushing it.
  21. it gets marks for looks , name , etc cosmetic style I buy that without hearing possibly
  22. Might be worth fitting a new pre amp valve ? The EQ that affects the signal the most is the Low .. boost that and the needle should be hard into the red at times if the gain is around 1pm to 3pm and you play firmly finger style and more do if a pick player
  23. so spent a lot of time with this pedal the last 6 weeks used it with 7 different basses and it's interesting the chorus is good but not great I was surprised by how much I like the reverb ( reverb seems counterintuitive for bass) the para eq is very good , the business, very well thought through thanks to @Hellzero to have a go at it they should have called it something other than the Fretless maybe I see these are pricy but worth a go if you can try before buy FKT also make an Octaver Pedal which looks mean
