  1. Past hour
  2. Wow, a seriously cool looking bass. I've never seen this model before. Thank you for posting photos and for sharing your observations 👍
  3. I love the burl style finish and overall colour. The colour matched knobs and pick ups look awesome too. However 10 string neck !😳 I'm not sure my little hands would be capable of stretching anywhere near enough to play the lower note strings 😰 And I dread to think how much this bass weighs !
  4. As a kid, I grew up near a penny arcade so "Barred For Bumping" instantly came to mind. Might not get you many pub gigs these days though 😄
  5. One last thing. I managed to sand the neck down so it’s nice and satin feeling - it was ok before but it had a long scratch and a dent near the head which you could feel quite easily. I used a damp cloth and an iron to lessen the dent depth and sanded it the rest of the way. I might sand all the finish off but it looks neat and feels great so will probably leave it cos I’m feeling lazy about it.
  6. I know some people won’t like this but the Squire logo is gone and I have a Fender Telecaster Bass logo on the way to put on instead. It wasn’t so much to have Fender instead of Squire I just wanted Telecaster instead of Precision! I have no intention of ever passing it on as a Fender and have left the original serial number/origin country on the headstock.
  7. So parts are going on….. Got some oil for the neck and I have to say it’s transformed!! Only had maple necks before so never had to do this. The electronics are a bit messed up so I bought 2 new CTS (came in Fender packaging which I didnt expect with new caps too!) pots which are the correct length with solid shafts. I just happen to have some really nice black solid metal knobs so will put those on. They will match the black 3 ply guard I have had to have custom made as mine didn’t seem to fit the standard templates for screw holes etc. EB Cobalts and a Hipshot bridge too. And a set of Schaller strap locks - just need a nice strap to match it but I can’t decide which one.
  8. I wish there was a reaction like "hysterical laughter" here.
  9. Today
  10. You may be watching the wrong programme. If you want your tat fixed, you have to go to Tattoo Fixers, where your 2cm x 4cm tattoo saying "BOB" (your ex-husband) will be transformed into a giant peacock covering your entire arm, or your rather unfunny tiny little picture of a man weeing somewhere a few centimetres north of your penis will be turned into a Cthulhu covering your entire torso. That is one programme where the punishment in no way fits the crime.
  11. I think we should take a helicopter view of this, preliminary to a deep dive. And don't forget to think outside the box while you're pushing the envelope. We must use synergy for organic growth.
  12. Thank you - I can't find a Bossa bass anywhere in the UK. I have another Bossa guitar that was Brian Monroney's (Tom Jones etc) and it's my #1 💛
  13. Where are the pitchforks and blazing torches? She's got a clip-on tuner on the headstock!
  14. I'm baffled by all the variants of EBMM, SBMM, Sterling, SUB, etc Rays. I'm currently at the cheap end with a <checks headstock> SUB series Sterling, made in Indonesia and presumably a Ray5. I'm sure somebody listed the various ranges and models a while ago but I haven't been able to find it. Would anybody be able to produce a definitive list of Rays past and present, with maybe some information on things like neck profiles, virtues, and vices? Pictures would be nice, preferably showing the headstock so it's simple to know what you're looking at when you spot one in the wild.
  15. We get the show here but most likely some months or years later.
  16. This is a well-rehearsed condition, although your personal circumstances may make it more challenging. We do have the Gear Abstinence thread for those trying to kick the habit, or at least contain it - in a non-judgmental way of course

  19. Still need to get some Velcro on the Greathammer and get it locked down but extremely happy with this setup. I’ve added an fx loop between The Accountant and the Element in case I want to add anything else like the Model FeT for guitars etc. TBH it’s a bit overkill so might take that out as it adds a bunch of extra wires and clutter. Other than that I can see myself keeping this setup for the foreseeable as long as I can resist the QCmini 😬

  21. Hold on...are you saying Customer Services Depts get their staff to give the best customer service by not paying them properly? 😅 Maybe a while before I can give both a proper spin as the juicy FI v4.5 software is not due out until March and, besides, I also may be about to return my FI unopened (see thread above). But hopefully at some point I can apply my polyphonic playing style (to quote @BigRedX's fabulous phrase) to both pedals and report back. Or maybe just try the MXR once and then move it on, which also seems to be quite fashionable these days. Either way @mattpbass is likely to get there before me with better synth technique and a more helpful comparison, I suspect!
  22. Inspiration from the off topic driving thread: "Impersonating Musicians" Or "Cracks in the Pavement"
  23. I bought it from a guy who bought it new and never used it. Where are you based?
  24. I’d go for the Xtender, they’re easy to fit and just work, much easier than tuning down/up.
  25. Any takers for a pink P Lionel? La Bella Deep Talkin, otherwise all standard. Ebony fretboard (dots are stickers). I'm thinking 1150 is about right.
