  9. Hi mate, I'm in Ealing so your side of London. Dimensions are as follow: W x H x D 594 x 662 x 426
  10. For sale, a gig-bag for Explorer and Thunderbird basses - supplied by Thomann - the item number is: EXP-BG20.6R/6. This was bought new around three weeks ago (£36) and has only been used to store a bass for a couple of weeks. Essentially, its about as close as one might find to a new bag and still has its tag. Collection in Manchester is good, though I should be able to fold and ship for around £6 (at the buyers risk and cost). Any questions, please just let me know.

  11. Small step forward today - tuners arrived. Because nothing ever goes smooth, the (pre drilled) holes in the headstock of my neck were way too big - and in my opinion having way too much slop to fix by wrapping tape around the tuner bushing. So, in steps some 0.6mm basswood veneer I have. Did a quick and dirty test fit and it worked pretty damn well. That one was a bit short though, so I cut some new strips of a more correct length: You've got to steam them first - they snap if you try to bend them that much when dry: After steaming, they're pliable enough to curl into shape and drop in the hole. Nice and tight, tuners fitted. Small job done.
  12. For sale, Status bag for a Streamline, though I'm pretty sure that this will fit a number of stick/cricket bat style basses. This is almost new and has only been used to store a bass. Cheap and cheerful - there's some padding but the bag is fairly light overall. Collection in East Manchester or I should be able to ship in the UK for around £5 (folded and wrapped in strong plastic). No trades or offers thanks - any questions, please just ask.
  13. Hello All, Having now got a nice new PJB D400 I’m looking to pair it with a small cab - but my needs are rather… niche… This will be for mostly fretless use (Zon and Sei), solo and small ensemble - no loud bands or need to keep up with noisy drummer so volume is not a concern. I play with a touch of reverb for that singing Manring vibe and what I need above all is for the cab to have an open sound and avoid boxiness wherever possible. I also need it to be small enough to tuck into a theatre band-pit for musicals work. So, I’m looking for an 8, 10 or 12”. The following could fit the bill, but hard to find good online demos of them: BF One10T (could be too coloured/classic rock sounding?) Eich 110XS or 112XS GR Bass AT110/4 or Cube 112/4 Glockenklang Accoustic 8 1 - out of all the online demos I’ve seen this seems to have the most open, natural sound Anyone had any experiences with these? Thoughts welcome! cheers! Andy
  14. I feel sufficiently out-of-place in 'my' age group/generation without subjecting myself to anything like that! Will not be joining.
  15. For sale, a Gator heavy duty bass case - I'm pretty sure that this is an earlier version of the current GTSA-GTRBASS ATA Moulded Case. However, the insert/foam lining is burgundy rather than black. I've sold pretty much all my long-scale basses so I'm advertising quite a few bags and cases. The case has some small scrapes from use, but no cracks and is structurally entirely - the interior is pretty much perfect. I've only used the case for storage. The cheapest that I can see these on-line is £145 so hope that the price is reasonable. Collection in East Manchester. It may be possible to ship at the buyer's risk and cost, though I'd need to find a box. No trades or offers thanks and any questions, please just ask.
  16. Such great memories! I remember most of the London ones mentioned. For those who never had the good fortune to visit The Bass Centre in Wapping...
  17. Paul bought a pedal from me, and showed great fortitude and patience in the face of over a week of Royal Mail tomfoolery before it arrived. A pleasure to deal with.
  18. Rickenbacker bass white pickguard, totally genuine and removed from my 2005 4003 bass. Excellent condition, no cracks or gouges…..no point in it sitting in my drawer! Only asking £35, posted free to you within the UK. Payment by PayPal ‘gift’ please, PM with any questions, thanks for looking! SB 😀
  19. Yes, I know they're called "LAP" steel guitars, but I have a few that I would like to use in more like a pedal steel position Is anyone using anything currently available in the UK ?
  20. I can still remember getting a train down to ‘that’ London when I was around 14, with a mate who wanted to buy a guitar. £5 return on the train! We walked from Kings Cross down Tottenham Court Road, and went in every music shop we saw, including the Fender Soundhouse where we gaped at all the latest models. Then on to Macaris etc, and down Denmark Street, and eventually Shaftesbury Ave where we got my mate a brand new Avon SG for £39, cardboard box included. Carried it all the way back to the station, and sat with it on our knees playing cards on it all the way home. Happy days.
  21. Handbox R400 Bass Amplifier - 400w @4ohm - New Version with mid control. Original black control knobs will be fitted back on instead of the blue ones. More photos available on request. Shame to let it go but not playing at the moment. Collection from Cornwall or post in original packing at buyers cost. Awesome tone, if you know... you know! The preamp utilises three 12AX7 (ECC83) tubes. Unlike the starved-plate designs of most common hybrid heads, it's pure tube with no silicon diodes, getting you even closer to the sound of a full-tube head. Classic A/B power supply based on an efficient toroidal transformer and large capacity electrolytic capacitors, delivering a powerful 400W into a 4ohm load. An optical limiter ensures you're always running within safe limits, and the R-400's on-board fan is thermally managed and controlled to ensure the amp runs smoothly at high volumes. * WxHxD: 375mm x 108mm x 315mm * Weight: 10.5kg * input jack * MUTE switch * BRIGHT / DARK switch: Engaged: +3dB @ 100Hz, -3dB @ 750Hz, +2dB @ 10 kHz * DRIVE switch: (The DRIVE switch raises the level of the signal at the input stage by about 6dB “ great for heavier genres, or for instruments with lower output). * INPUT GAIN: Using the INPUT GAIN, you can access a wide range of tones - from crystal clear to a fat, saturated harmonic crunch.¨ * BASS / TREBLE * CONTOUR: Introduces 0 to -12dB @ 1kHz * OUTPUT VOLUME * 3-state LED indicator: PROTECT / READY / LIMIT. * LINE OUT DI: a professional-quality DI, with PRE / POST gain and GROUND LIFT switches. * POWER SWITCH * FUSE ACCESS * 2 x SPEAKON speaker connectors * EFFECTS SEND & RETURN

  22. I went to school in West Ealing, only a short walk from Marshall's shop in Hanwell. I spent many lunchtimes looking at the basses and getting in the way of the staff. 33-37 Wardour Street, W1, the Flamingo Club was in the basement, the Whiskey-a-Go-Go was on the first and (maybe) second floors floors, and Pan Music was on the third floor. They always had a fantastic selection of basses hanging on the wall. That's where I saw my first Fender Precision bass in the flesh. I bought my Vox Foundation from Pan.

  24. Like many in these parts, it might be quicker to list the stuff I didn't have at one point.
  25. Ease the neck Up and Out Vertical... That way you can check for a shim, Plus the neck pocket / neck is a taper, and you don't / won't want to be Sliding it Horizontal. Blow out the body and neck holes, often a bit of breakthru at the neck hole, i always like a hint of countersink and a wipe of cangle wax or hard hand soap on the threads for reassembly to stop any snagging. Nip up! they are Wood Screws not Machine Bolts.
  26. To be honest, it doesn't really matter which one you'll buy as you'll probably end up buying all of them anyway. Just think of it as the first of many... Rob
  27. +1 from me. Exchanges was THE music shop of my youth. I bought/PX'd more gear than I care to remember. I even did my school work experience here which consisted of messing around with bass gear and vacuuming. A guy called Woz ran the bass department. Amazing player. Wonder where he is now? Incredible to think we also had the Birmingham Bass Centre just around the corner from Exchanges as well. Great times. We're lucky to have Fairdeal in Brum which has improved its bass great offering in a big way over the last few years and deserves to be supported lest it goes the same way as PMT...
