  2. side note - happy to remove this post @tayste_2000 if you prefer… I think this is my old one. A fellow BC’er borrowed it and loved it. Bought his own MkV and felt mine had a broader gain sweep - basically he couldn’t get his to go as low gain as mine. Dunno what the deal was but this one certainly has a wide gain range. I keep thinking I should buy it back but recently got a Taurus Servo and a Pork&Pickle and just don’t have the space for it.
  3. Traded compressors with Jim - great transaction as always - top fella too!

  6. I have a 1985 Jaydee Supernatural II and im wondering how the newer Jaydee basses compare to the older ones? Does anyone have experience with both?
  7. Thanks! Im still doing my research on any live performances that show the amp settings. Cheers!
  8. I mean it would certainly do it. Currently I’m a little biased as I’m enjoying having a cab sim on my DI, which I just think sweetens any and every pedal up, so I’d pair it with a Palmer DI with it’s cab sims, or the Darkglass Element (my current fav). But you won’t have any issues with it, it’s got enough power to drive a line into a passive or active di, you’ve got great tone shaping, it’s a smooth motowny sound from the get go (which all Beta’s are famous for) You might want to ask your question here as I’m clearly trying to sell you on it: If I didn’t have a JHS Punchline (and a JF Capo) I wouldn’t be selling this.

  11. Saturday we play our first of the year. The Rhythm Guitarists last gig as he has real health problems. We are not looking forward to it as both his timing and stamina are shot. Add the lead guitarist’s tendinitis into the mix and you can see why I’d rather be at your gig than ours. can you play bass with the fingers of both hands crossed? Thought not.
  12. Hiya. Curious why this has popped up again from 2023…
  13. A full-on sound check is becoming less of an issue for the bands I'm in. We use IEMS and Line 6 stomps or Pods, so the signal is routed through a desk, which can save the settings. Once we have set up, we rely on our ability to send the right signal to the desk. The onstage sound is the most important. Once the balance is right, the FOH is just another gain stage. If I'm using amps, I just set it for the venue size. I personally try to look at all the complementary frequencies I may be competing with and set my level where my sound won't get lost. Aside from that, there is usually someone in the audience who feels the need to tell us/ me whats not sounding right
  14. Sometimes you can't soundcheck. Sometimes you can. For some odd reason the gigs where you can seem to generate more positive comments about the sound quality. Hmmm.
  15. Wrong Side of the Tracks - Biohazard
  16. Edit: on second thoughts, I'm not getting drawn any further into this. But just to say, I love all the Muppet style pictures so far. Very entertaining!
  17. Have a look at this video and let me know what the eagle eyed among you think... WhatsApp Video 2024-04-26 at 11.33.36.mp4
  18. Thanks for all replies It's a buzz that swells on notes decay, definately bridge side not back buzz and seems to me to be hitting a few frets up not just the next one.... Today I put on some round wounds and played with he setup and exactly the same buzz, D n G strings between fret 3 -6/7. So completed another very carefully leveling, that seemed to show up no obvious issues from the last one. I'm settling towards this being a resonance of some sort in that area of the neck pushing some harmonic in the string .... maybe Good old Ricky's!
  19. I was going to say take your attitude to Talkbass, but...
  20. Congratulations. You arrogance makes any contribution you make to the debate irrelevant, as you are clearly incapable of giving anything like an objective view. Not to mention your views of amps and cabs are still in 1985, even if you gear isn't.
  21. Runaway Train - Soul Asylum
  22. If you're going to soundcheck then do it properly and quickly. We play in pubs. We've played together for years. We are very familiar with our equipment. A quick line check is plenty - does it make a noise? If so then stfu 😂. It's very rare that it doesn't sound good from the start. There again we only have the vocals going through the PA. There is absolutely no need to mike up the drum kit in the Dog and Duck and spend half an hour trying to get the kick drum to take out the back wall. Keep it simple, keep it under control.
  23. Your focusing on the practical protection for doing this rather then the principle here. Tech companies (billionaires) are using media and content that has been provided for free on the internet to train its models and effectively replace humans in the generation of creative endeavours. And charge us to do so. It may not mean much to you, but for lots of people AI will be an existential threat. In my industry it already is. This stuff is funny, but it normalises what is effectively theft. 16,000 artists against it here: https://www.theguardian.com/technology/2024/jan/21/we-need-to-come-together-british-artists-team-up-to-fight-ai-image-generating-software 1,000 here: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/articles/cwyd3r62kp5o.amp More here: https://www.theartnewspaper.com/2024/10/24/artists-statement-opposing-artificial-intelligence-content-scraping People against machines aren’t luddites looking to stop progress. AI (in its current forms) isn’t progress. It’s derivative rubbish.
  24. You've got the gig at the ball? 😆
  25. We do option 2, but we do it by playing a song that's not on the set list for the night. Me and the two guitars are wireless so we will wonder about to get a feeling for the sound. The singer tells everyone it's a soundcheck so if we stop abruptly to adjust something or start over again it's generally accepted.
