  1. Past hour
  2. Back to my 1st fave comp! Got it at such a super nice deal with a fellow basschatter.
  3. 2mm string clearance at the 12th isn't a lot, as that's usually around the deepest part of the relief curve in the neck. You can always cure this with a very small tightening of the truss rod, but that may result in some 'clank' from further back up the neck. Short scale basses can often have slightly higher actions by the very nature of the shorter stop length, but it's compensated for by the lower string tension. Dropping a string gauge can often help - I run my American Performer Mustang on 40-95 Elixirs. They seem to be ideal for the short scale, with ideal tension and tone. I did notice from your pictures that your nut isn't cut particularly deep.
  4. Given that weight and compactness are the main reasons people choose combos, separates can actually be a better proposition. One of the crop of class D heads plus a lightweight cab (or two/more) is often a lot lighter to carry. I prefer two journeys to and from the car with lightweight stuff, rather than one with a lump. Separates are also scalable -you can add cabs for bigger jobs - and in the event of a failure, you have more options. The gear tart in me would still like an AER, though.
  5. Yes, I think Pao Ferro fingerboards are either something you like or dislike. The 'furry' feeling when they're new can be odd, but it's a very hard wood that stands the test of time, second only to Ebony. The Beck Basses are nice, again, I thought of the one I played a few times as nothing special, but it was a punchy thing for a passive bass. I guess they just gained legendary status by being a rare, sought after item.
  6. Ah - that would do it! Thanks mate.
  7. How about in the Items Wanted forum? : https://www.basschat.co.uk/forum/22-items-wanted/
  8. Good enough for my classic US Spectors, good enough for me.
  9. Hi all - new to the site as after a fender P bass lyte and am at my wits end trying to find one - am I able to post a wanted ad in the for sale section? Cheers.

    PMT

The PMT videos are back up on their YouTube channel. I've enjoyed them over the years so glad they're back. I don't think it means anything other than someone didn't want to lose the content so put them back up.
  11. Gasoline Allium - Rod Stewart
  12. Quick tone demo, unfortunately it does not sound nowhere as good as in real life, coming out of an amp:
  13. Ahhhh, my old beautiful bass. A stunner of an instrument. GLWTS my friend. Someone is gonna pick up something very special indeed ☺️
  14. Today
  15. The clips in that video all show the IMA strings quite a bit louder to the point that I don't think that is just the string output being higher. Many reviewers do that to make something more impressive. I wish he had levelled the clips out so volume wouldn't be a factor.
  16. My first thought was a Squier with a ebanol board Mighty Mite neck! https://www.guitarbitz.com/products/squier-affinity-precision-pj-bass-charcoal-frost-metallic Plastic nut on my Might Mite P neck though, you'd have to check the heel to know for sure.
  17. Pretty sure everyone knows what these are about. Selling as not being used and could use the £££ Price includes postage in the UK.
  18. Chive Talkin’ - The Bee Gees
  19. Selling what is one of the best jazz basses I've played. Upgraded with noiseless Fender pickups and Fender hi-mass bridge. Collection from Bristol preferred, but happy to meet up halfway (within reason :D). Am also around Cardiff/Bridgend are quite regularly

  20. What's ironic is the high status those basses have achieved coupled with (some) people's snobbery of Pau Ferro fretboards. I have no issue with PF and would really like to try a Roscoe Beck to see what I've been missing. Never seen one though so...
  21. Pudding Thyme - Primus
  22. Those Roscoe Beck Fenders really are a Unicorn Bass these days. I'd imagine most are in the hands of collectors. I used to play one occasionally at a Jam Session in Nottingham in the 90s. Back then, it was just another nice Fender. Speaking of which, here's a nice one for sale on Reverb...
  23. Sage Sage Sage - Paul McCartney & Michael Jackson
  24. And I had exactly that and sold it in France. It's my biggest regret.
