  1. Past hour
  2. My favourite (although it has no level control) is the Aguilar Grape Phaser. Lovely lush phasing with just two knobs 👌
  3. Indiana ,isn't that where the " If Your In A Band " guy is from? Daryl ( Wisconsin )
  4. Yesterday
  5. Interesting. It seems like members that post regularly on the " How Was Your Gig Last Night" thread seem to be around my age (71). Consequently our histories and experiences have many similarities. I have more in common with you guys than my bandmates that are 35 years younger than me. It's no secret that my gigging experiences here in the States parallel many of you guys. Daryl
  6. Get a 5-string Corvette.
  7. Which is my point - simply saying turn left to right is ambiguous as there are two directions that you can go in to rotate something from left to right, clockwise and anticlockwise. Or deasil and widdershins if you prefer, or maybe dextrorotatory and laevorotatory.
  8. Thanks, that's worth knowing.
  9. Maybe your amp has an internal HPF, but none of my amps do. I never saw the point of a HPF, until I did. There are some rooms we play that get a weird bass response, most notably a community centre come sports hall in Chelmsford. The only way round it was take all of the bottom end off the amp. I added a thumpinator to my board and next time we played there, no problem!
  10. Have you checked if the nut slot for the D is too low or a twisted neck?
  11. True, but I didn't see any excessive cone movement before I used the Thumpinator. I assumed the amp had an internal HPF (which many do) which was doing the job for me.
  12. There was nothing in my post to suggest struggling with a 5 string over a 4 string if the 4 is easier to play.
  13. That's kinda the point of them isn't it? The idea is that they take out inaudible sub-bass frequencies, thereby making your amp more efficient and making it easier to get a decent sound in bass-trap rooms.
  14. I sometimes wonder myself!
  15. I have three five strings. They have their uses, but why use a Stanley knife for jobs you can do easier with a scalpel?
  16. oOps, just realised where you're coming from😔
  17. I think if you don't look at least a little bit ridiculous on stage then you're doing it entirely wrong! Preferably more than just a little too...
  18. I've got a vintera precision, about six months old.my problem is the d string buzzes on the lower frets.to stop it I have to add really high relief, but the frets choke out on the highest frets.its also digustingly crap to play.if I set relief to .30mm at the eighth fret and action at 5/64ths on E at the 17th fret,it plays beautifully everywhere except for the D at the low frets.ive since levelled the frets and it's still doing it.ive tried three different sets of strings,la bella ,ghs precision and fender flats.im at a loss.any ideas?
  19. Hmm. It may not be the basses fault in my case either…
  20. I just remembered i still have a couple of Zoom multi FX. I guess i might give those a go. I can then program in a volume change.
  21. I'm 1m80cm, c.90kg with broad shoulders. I play a P, and I look ridiculous, too. In all honesty I don't think the P has much to do with the ridiculousness, in my case!
  22. Something with a walking bass-line..?
  23. Yeah, just a bit lol.
  24. Thanks. Ive had the Source Audio stuff in the past but never really gelled with them. Too many options, and quite expensive.
  25. It's odd how my Kelly is one of the biggest basses you'll ever see, and is actually surprisingly very light. My Yamaha BB feels heavier! And comparatively that Jackson bird looks like a smaller body but weighs a ton. Is it made of mahogany?
