tredders Posted June 4, 2010 Share Posted June 4, 2010 Stupid question time - I've just got hold of a tort pickguard for my Bob Glaub, and came to fit it earlier. However, the volume and tone knobs aren't the usual Fender flat head screwdriver, and I couldn't see what they are. Rather than do my usual trick of blindly stripping a screw head or forcing the knob off (ooer missus), I thought I'd ask what I actually need to do the job properly! Anyone help? Ta. Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted June 5, 2010 Share Posted June 5, 2010 similar concept to prising off with teaspoons, I have removed push-on knobs by looping a shoelace around the pot shaft under the knob and pulling it upwards. ahpook Posted June 5, 2010 Share Posted June 5, 2010 i usually pull a wooden clothes peg apart and use the wedges to lift off stuck knobs (oo-er again matron)... less likely to leave any marks being wood... but the spoons is a good idea ! neepheid Posted June 7, 2010 Share Posted June 7, 2010 For stubborn press fit knobs, I slide the edge of a cloth (get that old t-shirt ripped up) underneath the knob, encircle it with the cloth then pull up.
