Hello!

Just a quick one as we've just put the first version of our new website up. Needs some work (full and high quality band pictures, video, audio and maybe some more info) but I think it looks quite tidy. We're trying to keep it as clean and user friendly as possible!

Let me know what you think!

Both of mine are in my signature but I'll do a quick rundown on both the main ones:

βeta

Beta is an Experimental Rock/Groove Metal band based in the North West of England, we use a variety of sonic tools to create unique soundscapes and compositions that can be performed in a rock framework, we're recording an album that should be released by summer 2011. Check out our website for music and various other media.

Les Pêches

Les Peches is a four piece acoustic/live lounge quartet with Cajon and Double Bass as well as two girls one of whom plays guitar sings while the other handles lead vocals. We've recently recorded a full album and will be recording a music video for our track 'Weak' in the next few months. Check out our (new) website for music, a little about us and I'd specifically recommend watching a few of the videos, we've got quite a few and they're amusing (at least I think so).

Hi Chaps,

Thought it about time I aired our musical exploits on this fair forum!!

We're called Valve, and describe ourselves as being alternative/rock/metal. We like to think that our style is fairly unique, and our songs tend to feature melancholic melodies, which switch to raging riffs, and then some. As for influences, the singer guitarist likes a lot of the old skool punk stuff, and metal, the drummer listens to a lot of power metal type stuff, and I tend to listen to a lot of classic rock, as well as stoner and doom.

You can check us out on MySpace here Valve MySpace Page

There's 4 tracks up to have a listen to. The first two were recorded DIY, and the last two were recorded live at "The Boardwalk" in Sheffield, which sound really good. "Ode To Oblivion" is one of our quieter numbers for those who aren't into full on rock music

Any feedback you guys have is more than welcome :)

I also joined another band about 7 months ago, and things are progressing well, although the hunt for a singer is proving to be a bit of an ongoing battle. Will post up some details when there is some more to share :)

What a good thread! So many rad bands. Figured i'd whack mine on here...

I'm the bassist in Above Us the Waves. We're a young (aged 17 and 18) band from Oxford. There's four of us, sharing bass, drums, violin, guitars, synth and singing between us. Who doesn't love a good old loop pedal (or two) :)

We play folky, intricate rock pop... Giving us a listen and working out what we are is probably the best idea - we're not very good at describing our sound... Help us out?

We're on bandcamp: http://aboveusthewaves.bandcamp.com
and myspace: http://www.myspace.com/hearaboveusthewaves

Hopefully we'll be recording again in February - watch this space!

Sweet,
Pete

I'm liking this as well.

Think in a couple of years when you've really nailed your sound & songwriting ideas it'll sound great. I feel sometimes it feels a little bit lost and you didn't know where to go with the song??

Not sure how i'd describe it though, Alternative Folk Rock?? Ambient Folk Rock??

I have enough issues trying to pigeon hole Ten Floors sound :)

Anyways, nice work!

Not really my sort of thing so can't really comment too much on it, but it seems to do well at what its ment to do if that makes sense :)

Think my biggest piece of advice would be to move away from Myspace & onto Facebook.

Main reason is that Myspace is just so damn slow nowadays its unreal, and the network on facebook is so much bigger

Thanks Jake,

We are on FaceBook as well. Have to admit that FaceBook does seem a much better tool for self promotion, and networking

I play bass in A Little Bit Outlaw. We are a young (15-17) 4 Peice Contemporary Punk band with influences such as Good Charlotte, Bowling For Soup, Sum 41, The Beatles, R Kelly and artists from all genres.

Since forming in Bolton, Lancashire in 2008 under the name "Nemesis" we have had 2 name changes, and a lineup change resulting in a radical change of direction and much more success. We began gigging in late 2009 and since then we have reached the final of a local Battle Of The Bands, along with playing venues such as Manchester Academy and The Soundhouse in Bolton.

In October 2010 we recorded our first EP at The Fuzzbox, Wigan which can be heard on our myspace and youtube. Join us on facebook for regular updates about gigs and head down to one of our shows to experience our new flavour of punk.

Cheers Jake,

I agree that the structures on those recordings are pretty "post rock" (or perhaps a little directionless depending on your opinion)... We've tightened the songwriting up since last year, Very excited to get some new recordings down.

I gave your stuff a listen - it's not my usual type of music but man, it's hooky. Really enjoyed "you were missing"... Good song, good work mate.

My band Dirty Break play rock/pop punk. Lots of backing vox for me, which I love! Things are just starting for us (IE, now we have some recordings we're finally able to get some gigs!) so I think 2011 should be a fun year.

You can check out our 8 track EP here: http://dirtybreak.bandcamp.com or find us on facebook here: Dirty Break

Hi guys

I play in an instrumental prog trio called Heights.

It's certainly leaning towards the heavier side of what you could term as modern prog, mostly thanks to our drummer Jay who is a metalhead - he also plays in a signed band called Tesseract - go check them out!
Its great only having guitar, bass and drums and not running any samples or keys. It does give a lot more space for melodies from all 3 of us. We have a couple of albums out and gig sporadically around new releases. We have had good press in the likes of Kerrang, rock sound, classic rock prog and some radioplay on total rock and Kerrang radio (unsigned band of the week last week!). Have a listen!

Might as well introduce Acrid Nebula - we're plying a trade in original heavy, riff-laden Metal. Probably more of a 70's and 80's influence in our sound, the drummer and I have been in bands for almost 20 years each. We're not too concerned about sticking rigidly to one style of Metal, we've been described as doom, death and thrash metal in equal measure, even death 'n' roll though I don't know what that is. There are no screechy vocals and no dragon slayings here. We write the music we like and that's all that matters. Despite being a bassist first and foremost, I play guitar in this band so I can guarantee it being free from guitar w*** :)

We've got everything we've recorded available for free on our website - http://www.acridnebula.com - there's an mp3 player up there to for those who just want a casual listen and our previous demo and E.P. can be downloaded for free. This year we're going to put out an album and continue gigging around the country, hopefully get over to gig in the UK this year too.

We'll be playing with fellow Basschatters - Castero - in Nenagh on the 28th. You should all come along.

Ooh. I haven't had a go on here.

I'm Ad from the Jetsonics. A three piece original rock band. We formed out of the ashes of a quartet known as Magic Ship (Classic Rock Magazines battle of the band winners) in late 2009 when we realised only one of us really liked americana stylee classic rock.
We're a much more anglocentric rock band with nods to punk, power pop, glam, dub and even the odd disco bass line.
We have written two sets worth of new material since and are currently working on recording an album/series of EPs with Steve Lyon who has produced the Cure, Depeche Mode, Amplifier, etc.

Three tracks from the recording with Steve plus some early demo's, photo's and a video or two are up on the Jetsonics website.

Reviews:

Time Out - A poor mans Jam with fuzzy vocals.....
TNT Magazine - Energetic three piece rock with gritty vocals...
Bloke at Half Moon - You're like a lash up of the Clash, the Police and AC/DC!
Very loud bloke in boozer - Can't you play some Guns N Roses?<repeat indefinitely>

Secondly, and most recently, we have The Steve Gilroy Band a four piece covering a diverse range of blues rock from the Doors, Robin Trower, Bad Company, Montrose, Mountain, Sammy Hagar, Slash, Deep Purple, Rory Gallagher and Gov't Mule.
