Anyone actually like the Jazz for it's looks alone? I know I do. That asymetrical body shape, the metal plate blended with the pickguard. Very nice! I just wish that they naturally had a bit more grunt - but that can be remedied with dirtier pickups :)

Well ido..i think the shape is what a bass should look like, as well as a P bass..i love the chunky shape and dont like the downsized bodies..then again i love an F Bass shape...i just think most bass luthiers take there shape from Fender and do it different...

is the jazz that good Pete? Whgere is the porn by the way??[/quote]

Great thing about the Audere pre is that it makes the Jazz sound like a Precision :)

I been on gigs where the singer had told me to bring a Fender...especially if promo was involved.
Some basses will just not do...

A jazz is timeless but I agree that the pre amps have enabled a lot to compete these days.
Both my Jazz's have pre's but sound pretty good passive IMV...
but then that is why I have kept them

I really like the looks of a Jazz, and the Precision too. They just don't cut it for me, sound-wise. This is why I have a Peavey T-40, which sounds marvelous and looks great in a sort of American industrial design kinda way. The fretless Fender Jazz I have is all black and just looks very very slinky indeed. At the end of the day I guess you like what suits your purposes. I won't buy another Jazz but I really like how they look!
